  • Wait - are we in Australia here? Because if it's Australia, there is absolutely no room for feral cats on our land, and they all need to be shot. For the sake of our native wildlife, and if you were a true conservationist, you'd agree. But I guess you don't and never will understand how the true balance of an ecosystem works...

It's OK though, you can relax because there is no way in our lifetimes that we'll see the complete eradication of them. More fun for the shooters, I guess!!!

  • @widewindsidewinder Not in australia... but i still dont agree with you.

  • @Tigerheartwarrior No worries mate, I didn't think you would ha ha. But can I at least tell you this: Feral cats down here are responsible for the extinction of several species of native marsupials and birds. They're an introduced species, and don't actually belong in our ecosystem. TNR only works to prevent breeding, but they're still out there killing. Just thought I'd give you an insight. Spare a thought for Oz's little animals that can't defend themselves against a hungry pussy!

  • We have a program here that TNR's and allows people to get a cat that needs it for their barns to rid of pests, or just have a country home.

  • Also, good job on your fostering, barflea 1!!

  • Hawks, Falcons, Eagles, Owls,Crows ect...all kill song birds and eat their eggs, do you suggest we rid ourselves of these predators too?

  • So, since come of you IDIOTS seem to believe cats are the problem, what do we need to do about insects? What about children that damage flora and fauna? SHould we find a "humanely humane way" to euthanize them? If you are so seriously concerned abouyt such matters, perhaps you should either move to a remote place, such as another planet, or quit worrying so much about what mother nature is doing, and what animals destroyt what plants.

  • Im fostering a feral kitten at the moment and its the most rewarding experience of 2009 / 2010 so far.. each day you see improvement if that the word for it... each day .. basically give back a life or more so give back a LONG LONG blumming life to them little critters !!

  • Cats are beautiful creatures and TNR works!

  • It constantly amazes me how ignorant some people can be. All you have to do with feral cats is to trap, spay/neuter and release. Then they can continue to live a normal life, and reduce the amount of feral cats. I believe that humans pose the bigger risk to the enviroment, especially the stupidity that is certain individuals. There is NEVER a reason to kill something for "population" control" that is the biggest joke ever. If I have severe people problems, what should I do about that?

  • well i think you really just need to understand that the trap, spay/neuter and release technique doesn't stop feral cats wiping out entire species of animals...

you say that humans do way more damage to the environment but cats are human mistakes...

cats live for about 20 years, how much fauna could they kill in that time?

feral cats need to be exterminated because they do too much damage, they won't become extinct but the animals they kill will! why are people so stupid?

  • @depeched8004

    WELL SAID!!

  • I work actively in TNR...Love the slides, and the song is puuurfect!

  • This is a beautiful video .Great job --RILEY

  • All feral animals are fair game for hunting.

Cats & foxes are a favourite target of mine.

It's call environmental hunting. We only hunt ferals.

Cat, dog, fox, goat, donkey, horse, camel, pig & boar [almost gone now, thanks to hunting] buffalo & anything else which doesn't belong here.

  • Oh... & rabbit & hare & rat & squirrel (I believe they [squirrel] have been eradicated now, hooray).

  • I do TNR for my community and it works. I highly recommend it. Thanks to so many that are compassionate.

To the jerks commenting here...what goes around comes around.

  • What do you think the impact of human activities is to our ecosystem?

  • Yes, human activities damage the environment. Does that mean we should ignore all the other environmental damage?? It's humans fault that cats are loose & feral. It's our responsibility to clean up this mess by eradicating the feral pest of cats.

  • Exactly!!!! I have severe cat problems. Thesew people do not realize the damage these animals do.

  • well done, thank you for the intelligent comments... no, it's not cruel to shoot them - BANG - they literally don't know what hit them, instant death... a baby bird on the other hand, slowly being torn apart and sadistically tortured often for the cats' amusement because it's fact that they kill for fun...

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva I AGREE I KILL FEREL CATS ALL THE TIME THEY GET INTO MY TRASH AND THE KITTENS JUST SHIT ON MY LAWN IM SHOT THEM SMASHED THEM AND KICKED THEM TOO!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • To 762.

Ammo is more expensive than TNR. Save the ammo. After your post, you may need it, dumbass.

  • Get a life. Jerk! If ur such a #$@*#) then dont watch this video!

  • i dont think instant death from a high powered rifle is inhumanely killing cats, i could see if you were a poor shot and only wounded a cat that would be inhumane but one well placed shot they just go stiff and dont kick arround and there are alotless cats than when i bought the place. I did not notice an increase in the population but i do think the cats have noticed that the dogs patrol the property line and stay away i have 2 cane corso's and they love kitties! but they dont leave my property

  • Do you realize that when you inhumanely kill cats, double come to fill that space? So your just making the problem even harder to control.

  • what are you talking about cats are supposed to be outside!! you must let the cat out sometimes or it will be very unhappy (In most cases) Cats are also wild animals from the beginning if you don't feed them they will run away from home and if you shoot someone elses cat then you should whatch out!!1

  • Cats can easily & happily live their entire lives in an aviary. Just look @ the cats owned by reputable breeders. They would never allow their expensive & much loved animals to run loose & be hit by cars or trapped or shot by people like me. It is responsible behaviour, as a pet owner, to confine your animals. It's for their safety & wellbeing.

  • I said in most cases.... Most people doesn't even have guns to so in a bigger perspektive none of the things we two say and do will make any difference.

  • If a cat is always in an aviary it won't know about outside. So it'll be happy. It wont be upset about not going outside because it won't know what outside is. "In most cases" today, people are allowed to let their cats run wild so they think that cats NEED to be outside. They don't.

I make a difference. I lay baits on my property. I put traps on my property & I shoot ferals on my property & on others & in the bush. AND I confine & desex my pets. Also I only buy animals from registered breeders

  • To me it seems like you would shoot everything you see o.o but i really dont have time to argue with you. soooo let's just stop now kay?

  • If it is a feral species, then YES, I would shoot trap or poison it. Ferals are called that because they are unwelcome & destructive pests which must be eradicated.

That is one of the ways in which I CONTRIBUTE to the ecological wellbeing of this country. (Australia's feral animal problem is MASSIVE, & cats are a MAJOR part of it, just in case you didn't know) How are you contributing?

    We are not arguing.

I am feeding you information, of which I believe you were previously ignorant.

  • I do not live in australia and no I dont know of your problems, but how do you know lets take cats as an example. How do you know if the cats are not owned by people. I dont know about your place but up here you could get into curt just to own a weapon, but if you shoot someones pet then you'll be in a lot of trouble.

  • Anyone who abuses animals will get theirs one day.

  • well then maybe cats should be, um... i don't know, housecats? don't let them outside...

you have no idea of the damage they are doing to the fauna in australia, it's already at the point of no return...

i simply can't believe how ignorant people can be by releasing these things back into the wild, either domesticate them or shoot them, it's the only option that will work consistently...

if you neuter them, they will still hunt... think of the creatures that they send to extinction...

  • I understand that feral cats are a problem. But I found removing them does not work for very long. The vacuum effect comes in, letting the left over cats to breed to make up for the ones taken or shot. When rescues do TNR they make sure to neuter every cat they can. Plus the neuter cats prevent new ones coming in. Un-neutered cats welcome new ones to breed.

  • Also, if you lived in my area you would see how TNR has kept the numbers quite low. All cats hunt BUT I would rather have fewer managed ferals then countless numbers that hunt for sport and hunger. I'm down to 8 feral cat near my home. So yeah it works.

  • Don't kill cats! You're supposed to get them fixed, and re-release them so they hold the territory!

  • Cats have not caused the extinction of any mainland species of native animal, nor are they a threat to any ecosystem, in fact may have an integral part to play in the balance of many ecosystems even in countries like Australia!

  • Funny, your statements hold even more true of the human species!!!!

  • We are at least doing something for nature by controlling the population of various animals.

  • I think someting is wrong here if you take away cat and put in humans then it would make alot more sense

  • My main concern is that this program is increasing the amount of rats in the area where the cats are fed. I see caretakers feeding cats in my neighborhood and when they come, both cats AND rats come to feed. I have watched rats eat side by side with the cats. These feral cats are NOT helping control the rat population because they are being fed on a regular basis. Why hunt when you're being fed?

  • Feral cat colonies in this TNR program are responsible for several species of animals in my area becoming extinct. If they are no longer pet worthy they should be destroyed.

  • Thank God for people who love cats!

We have to be strong and keep up the fight.

There is such hatred in this world. I have faced it with my cat colony. But I won't ever give up on my cats! They need our love and help. They face challenges everyday and have to be distrustful of people to survive. What beautiful creatures! Thanks for your video!

  • I take care of two feral cat colonies. For the people who are mean to feral cats, I hate you.

  • Beautifully done! I help these gorgeous animals everyday and will continue to with all the money and strength I have!

  • NO THANKS!

  • so so true. i like to relocate them to the heaven wit my gun wen i go to my cousins farm.

  • yeah TNR is a good way to solve this problem. But we dont have to shoot them to help them....

  • and there swaet and innocent

  • i feel bad for em ill save em and ill donate no matter what these animals dont deserve such hatered i think every1 should luv them no matter what i luv them so i dont care what any1 has to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!luv you kitties hang in there

  • you are crazy!! We dont need to kill cats to help decrease the amount of ferals in the wild. The best answer is trap, spay/nuetr, release

  • Strays can be adopted as a pet, and ferals will most likely never be tame enough to really be a pet. That's why you don't take ferals to a shelter...it's certain death. That's why cared-for feral cat colonies are so important. That's why the TNR programs that are in place are so needed. It's much more complicated than what I've explained, but you all get the idea.....

  • actually I disagree Ferals if they are young enough can be tamed. Our case is rare in the fact that the cat that we tamed was around a year old. She is a pretty black and white tuxedo cat. She has a mild lazy temperment but unfortunatley due to her being in the wild for such a long time we cannot let her outside and we have to be careful about transporting her in her carrier because as she did once she did run away and we had to trap her all over again.

  • but other than those extra measures of security we take she has actually warmed up to humans very well and has not bit anyone evr since we trapped and tamed her

  • I agree. Ferals usually can't be tamed and to approach the feral issue as a whole it's best to think in terms of TNR. Someone said some ferals can be tamed. Yes, and I even have a couple, but given the numbers, successful taming is rare and is not an answer for a problem this big. Generally, a colony should be TNR'd. I've seen too many rescue people stop because they kept taking in ferals instead of focusing on TNR. The ferals really just need TNR if they are to be helped in large numbers.

  • Also, there's a huge difference between a stray cat (used to be someone's pet that is either lost or dumped) and a feral cat (born in the wild with no human contact and socialistion in the very young kitten stage).

  • Do most people really understand the concept behind a Trap/Neuter/Return program? I really don't think so, judging from some comments that I've seen here and elsewhere. Widespread education and information is the only way to get humans to understand what it really entails.

  • I support feral cat hunting. They aren't your pet kitties, they are mean and wild. You will not tame them.

  • I know some mean and wild people, but we don't have to kill them!

  • I don't think that most feral cats really want to be indoors. I've tried that trick before, bringing a few inside. they're just too wild. They're too used to being outside. Although good song to make people think, hey, lets support TNR!

  • Omg i'v never herd of this! this is so sad but isnt it against the law 2 kill animals or people will kill them kuz I beleive in buddism and it could be some1 you loved from another life =( its really sad lol I'm 13 and i love cats and wolves and u know were over populated way worse than cats and dogs and wolves! isnt that horrible!

  • In Australia, feral cats have it even worse over there. Right now Aussie's are trying to get approval of a bait that will kill cats. It is very sad that they have not learned TNR there.

  • -sniffles- man thats so sad! I like kitties! I didn't know people SHOT them! That is wrong, so wrong!!! :(

  • yeah, I really like trap, neuter, release because cats still get to be wild but they do not over populate the area with their kittens!

  • Great vid. Shows why TNR is so important!!

  • Oh, of course! Feral cats should be taken to a shelter instead of being abused for their' over population. Cats produce many kittens in a year so the feral cat population has grown over the years at a rapid pace. Shooting a animal will not make less of them come. They need to take them in and get them spayer or nutered so they have fewer cats on the streets and more cats happy.

  • Willowtail...Feral Cats taken to shelters will end up dead because they can not be placed in homes. They need to be TNR (trap, neutered, released) THAT is the solution for these animals. Not euthanisia in the shelters.

  • Yes! that is the solution... and if wiconsiin really cared they'd do something about that!

  • 99$ % of the time, feral cats taken to shelters are euthanized- some son't even make it inside.

  • oh, yeah I totally believe warrior cats are alright but these cats are strays they should have homes. If they live in a forest in a clan and are happy that's fine. But you gotta admit shooting ferals is bad. Cats could all be wild creatures but people destroying forests and shotting them it's just not a very safe life

  • I believe in the capture spay/neuter, release program. They pick up populations of cats and spay/neuter them to keep the populations down. Better than in Winsconsion where it's legal to shoot ferals. Which means nothing considering how do you know a feral from a regular cat?

  • I love Wisconsin. I support hunting stray and wild cats.

  • I do feel bad for these poor animals, but I still belive that the Warrior cats are alright.
