Nah I think he would have gotten the joke. In the movie, this clip is used to demonstrate how Hollywood has the tendency to ruin works of art by reshooting them.

This clip is actually a "movie-within-a-movie". It is fictional trailer of a remake of "Marty" as portrayed in a movie called "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With" written & directed by Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm). BTW, both movies are excellent!

This was not that bad of a reinactment. Aaron Carter, while I do not care for his music, is, if this is any indication, not that bad of an actor. Gina Gershon, as always, did a superb job.
