  • This needs to be 3D!

  • @Blaze6108 I would love for that to happen, but alas, I'm not James Cameron :P Thanks for the comment!

  • I think the BBC should make a contest thing for a new intro... just imagine how cool would it be if we would get on tv one of these fantastic intros (and we would also get rid of the current crappy music)

  • Very good, but how dare you put your own name on it... lol.

  • I like ideao of explosion :)

  • amazing

  • awesome work!!!

  • This is absolutely amazing!!!!!

  • This is pretty brilliant. I do like the green and effects of the older versions, but this is still pretty brilliant

  • Dude I am making a doctor who movie and could use your help would you be interested?

  • Great job!!!!

  • @TheGallianthe I agree it needs a tiny bit of refining, but the concept is better than the ones they use today

  • Very impressive. I think I actually like your version better than the one the real show is currently using. Your time and hard work is appreciated.

  • Why are all the best fan sequences unclean?

  • @Ghastly98 To stop idiots stealing them :)

  • @SAMWOODHALL I could have thought of better answers, but I can see your smugness already, so I am just gonna leave...

  • Brilliantly done!

  • Congratulations and well done!

  • I think that when the Doctor Who appeared, it would have been cool if it turned into the bottom of the TARDIS and it turned upward

  • THIS WAS MADE EXACTLY 1 YEAR AGO xD MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

  • @NicholasJSchmidt Bit late but Merry Christmas to you too :)

  • dear sam woodhall will you come round my house and play awesome game with me

  • well...at least i tried

  • can you also make a clean version of this one to it is incredible

  • @sonofvicvega816 ...No

  • Jon Grandsen is hugely talented! Noone can take that away from him. Good trailer!

  • Brilliant but a bit to shakey.

  • Dear bbc, Give this man a job please! And sam, I may need your help on a colab video if that's possible.

  • @devilspest Thank you very much, it is most appreciated. At the moment i’m too busy to do much work for anyone let alone myself, college has been a burden lately.

  • Shake is a bit much, but you have a very creative imagination. Do you work in SFX?

  • @theguylambert I don't, although I would like a placement working as a video editor or in the VFX department at the Mill or any other company as such.

  • Hello Sam, I'm looking for a person who would like to make my DWFA - Series Two titles. Please would you reply back if you would like to be interested in making my titles also i will include your name in the credits of each episode!

    Many Thanks DWFA2011

  • @DWFA2011 Not interested sorry.

  • i love the bumpiness

  • turn the shake down man, dam

  • The bang nearly gave me a heart attack, especially with headphones on, good remake though!

  • amazing!

  • mate .. all i say is bravo! loved every second!

  • wonderful!

  • It looks very similar to the Stargate's wormhole

  • ermmmm wow. that was classic. loved the music, mix of old an new :D props to you guys

  • The opening is thrilling - it is almost as good as the actual opening sequence. I wonder how much the BBC paid the company/people who did that? And how much would you charge them? No wonder the beeb is strapped for cash!

  • EXPLOSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was brilliant, i would even say that, that could be the proper doctor who titels, brilliant work again mate

  • Absolutely bloody brilliant!!! Loved it!! Well done, sir!!!! :-D

  • Comment removed

  • O_O ^_^ O_O AWESOME!!!

  • The explosion scared the fuck out of me. I feel so lame. ahaha

  • which programme did u make the music on, because u officially have inspired me

  • @carrots2606 I didn't make the music.

  • @SAMWOODHALL

Who did the Theme Remix you used in the demo? I've been looking for that...

  • @ SuperCrazykids09 I don't understand your comment

  • Sam, you are definitely a talented bloke! Keep up the good work, mate!

  • Simply astounding! :-D

  • @SAMWOODHALL names a you will get full credit

  • @legorepublic101 No. Sorry.

  • @legorepublic101 Tbh, yeah.

  • @SAMWOODHALL please can I use this titles for my series if so do you have a copy without the t

  • what program did you use for this?

  • @twilson0079 The TARDIS, logo and names were animated using Lightwave 3D and the vortex was done using Adobe After Effects.

  • Amazed... All I have to say.

  • Please make them clean PLEASE!!!!!

  • I'm a big fan of that time vortex! I'd be pretty happy if that was the visuals for when they need a new title sequence again.

  • There is only one thing I would change in this magnificent sequence: the music. The melody is not loud enough. Otherwise, WOW!!!!

  • cough cough cough! not the oscars? you are way too modest! that was brilliant

  • WOOOOOOOOWWW!

    AMAZZZIING!!

  • I love it except I wouldn't have made the vortex thicker

  • The only comment I have to make is that the title of the episode shouldn't go far to the sides of the screen. If you watch programs and adverts, you'll notice all the writing is close to the middle of the screen for people with 4:3 screens (the TVs which are more square shaped). Every channel that broadcasts in a 16:9 (widescreen) format does this. Just a bit of constructive criticism.

    But it was still amazing!

  • Great Vid mate!

what was the vortex made in?

  • The episode name is either a reference to the film SuperHero Movie or pure coincidence :D *thumbs up if you loved that film*

  • This is the best doctor who opening i've ever seen! better than the real one!

it'll be brilliant for the very last series cause it's got a lot of EPICNESS in it! WELL DONE! I agree with "JonnotheHedgehog" you should work for the bbc. you'll make millions in seconds with that!

  • Dude you should go work for BBC and do this for the series, this is amazing!!

  • @JonnotheHedgehog Noo, I'm not that goood ^^

  • @SAMWOODHALL It's certainly one of the best cracks at it I've ever seen! :D

  • @SAMWOODHALL Dude the BBC has multiple people working on the opening titles and you're capable of THIS! On your own! Man you can make it to the BBC no sweat!

  • @Ichiryu666 Aww thanks bud. Means a lot.

  • that was a joy to watch :) keep up the good work!

  • I LOVE your stuff mate! This is AWESOME!

  • Hmm looks like a cross between stargate and Christmas lights....I like it. :)

  • Oh my God. Those are some pretty intense titles. Awesome.

  • Oh WOW, this is a really stunning opening.

I've heard that opening ping (replacing the sting) before:

    YatesIdeasProduction used it too.

Where is that sound from? I think it's very Time Lord esque!

    I hope there's a series behind this!!!

  • :D SO AWSOME!!!!!! Do you take requests?

  • Its good but the only bad thing is the theme

  • @TheTimeLordsReturn Perhaps. Depends if I'm busy or not :P But i'll let you know!

  • this is brilliant

  • what do you use for this? i am currently learning cinema 4D as it is easy and effective!

  • @SirWillig For the vortex I used After Effects. And for the names, logo and TARDIS, lightwave 3D. I also use Cinema 4D, very nice program!

  • @SAMWOODHALL i didnt know you could make vortex's have twists and turns on after effects! well thats very impressive

  • You cannot even fathom how much WIN this video contains =D This opening is amazing!

  • we only have one dalek who hates this video

  • JEEPERS MAN what is with the explosion i almost regenerated with that suprise.

  • What theme music did you use? because it's really cool and every one is starting to use it now

  • "Cant, Cant? There's no such thing as Cant" - 4th Doctor

  • check out the intro on my latest vid! it has the liquid vortex like the one in matt smiths trailer!

  • It truly is a stunning piece of work! I dont think the Jittereyness cuts it for me if this was the actual titles , but jitteryness on Youtube videos makes them spark a little , it makes your work - especially in HD work well towards that! good luck with the series , Im assuming thats why you did it? please come and see my Movie Trailer called "Doctor Who Legacy - Darkness Of The Weeping Angels" If you havent already checked it out! Adios! Ciao! :P [Or I could just say bye lol]

  • I would have preferred to see Matt Smiths name there but that's still very good. Nice and kinetic!

  • @straker454 That's my name :P

  • @SAMWOODHALL Yes, I know it is. It's your user name after all XD It's just that Matt is the Doctor...well unless this is for a fan film?

  • @straker454 It is indeed for a fan film :-) lol

  • @SAMWOODHALL Ohhhh well, that makes sense then XD I thought you were doing this to appeal to the BBC for a job! If I worked for them you'd have it! Great CGI!

  • can you make me one?

  • 0:35 How did that rock get into the time vortex???

  • @mpinks97 I wonder that myself o.O

  • @mpinks97 AMY"The Time vortex is boring just flashing blue than red." DOCTOR"Its not that bad" AMY"Whats that big thing." RRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK

  • hey mr woodhall, could i get feedback on my new doctor who short film on my channel? newest video cant miss it! the intro is a bit crap and im re making it with a twisty turny version of the vortex seen in the trailer for the 2010 doctor who, but if you get any other ideas if you could let me know that would be great!

  • These titles are jammie dodger fantastic! I honestly think Series 6 could do with this!

  • Possibly bring the TARDIS in a bit quicker at the beginning and really shake the screen, but apart from that I love it!

What did you use to make it?

  • @DoctorCRoberts Thanks. I used Adobe After Effects and Lightwave :-)

  • Fantastic! Rivals the actual credits :-D

    Well done you :-)

  • THAT... IS....OUTSTANDING. You are very, very talented.

  • @njlarcombe Aww thanks ^_^

  • OMG IM LISTENING TO IT ON MY HEADPHONES AND IT MADE A COLD SHIVER GO DOWN MY SPINE IT THAT WAS FANTASTIC :D

  • The fx were amazing, I don't think I'd ever be able to make something like that. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the music, it seemed to quiet and didn't get my heart racing. The visuals are excellent anyway.

  • @JackWolf10 The theme is changing for the official series. Look to the demo theme tune in the related videos to see what it will sound like.

  • YOU THEME IS THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • btw the vortex is amazing! it has stars and stringy clouds which i really love! My latest one that I am making has a glowing liquid vortex. Could I use your series one opening theme demo if i give you credit! It is really special and epic!

  • @SirWillig Thanks for the comments. Sorry, my theme is strictly my theme. For my series only. Sorry :/

  • @SAMWOODHALL okay no problem! i totally understand!

  • this is stunning! and 60 hours to render? HOLY SHIZZLE! Im very impressed and you can really feel the turbulence of the vortex!

  • WHOMIX!!!

  • when does your series even come out?

  • @NinjaStar1018 Pre Production is almost finished, and filming will commence soon.

  • Is that Hastrans tardis?

  • @ManservantPablo Indeed it is :P

  • @SAMWOODHALL I thought I recognized it. I love his work!

  • An awesome title sequence, althought the sound levels are a bit out - the explosion is too loud and the music too quiet. Other than that, Magnificent

  • @JohnHutch They are out cuz it was a rushed thing getting the audio up as I wanted to get it out for Xmas :P But I've altered the music with the audio so it isn't as loud :P

  • wicked i had my headphones in and the lighttning bit made me jump!

  • @4DFuturist Oooooh interesting. I'm working on some fan style 2010 titles with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, hoping to make it soon enough lol. When im not busy.

I look forward to seeing your take on the titles pal :)

  • @4DFuturist Will we be seeing a version of this particular vortex on your channel anytime soon? :P

  • Fantastic my friend! Absolutely amazing! Well done :D

  • @TristanPalmerFilms Cheers mate :)

  • @4DFuturist Yep, duplicated the Stars twice and I used the under layer as vector blurred stars, also I put up the turbulence size and position to make em a bit more energy looking :P

  • It's brilliant, the only problem with it is that why was it shaking so much

  • @plunderbird I like the shakiness. Adds more senses of speed.

  • @SAMWOODHALL ah good point so your not making anymore titles now are you or no

  • @plunderbird I'll still be doing them, but not for other people, i'll be doing fan titles for the real series or some stuff of my own.

  • @SAMWOODHALL oh...okay

  • Got to admit, that was really snazzy. But I didn't like the shake of the story title. It can actually cause some motion sickness in people who are sensitive to that. (Like me.)

  • @DefconWarningSystem I'll cut that bit out then for others.

  • I remember when Jon came up with the effect. I was busy trying to create an echoey tunnely thing, and then he said "What do you think of this?" - showed me what he'd done in 20 minutes and I pretty much uninstalled After Effects and gave up forever.

    I LOVE THIS ANYWAY!

I especially love the light burst separating the titles from the writer, that's a bit genius that is.

  • @richsc21 Thanks >.<

  • Wow! :D Loved it! Brilliant vortex and texture on the names :D

and camera shakes just perfected it :) make the ep title looks more apart with the sequence :D

  • @RobCamVideos Cheers buddy! :)

  • Im curious how you did the 3d text in after effects like that... Any tips?

  • @ManservantPablo One big one, It wasn't done in After Effects :P Lightwave lol

  • @SAMWOODHALL Ahh okay I figured it had to be done in a 3d program.

  • @ManservantPablo You can do 3D text in After Effects, but it's needed with an extrude filter, you can get a free one from someone called "Maltaannon" just search that and extrude filter after effects and it'll come up :P

  • @SAMWOODHALL I used max for my v4 title sequence text, and I was probably gonna do the same on the next one, but Im not sure. I kinda wanna try it in AE

  • @ManservantPablo It's a bit fiddily to do stuff like that I find. Much prefer a program that is true 3D space orientated, as I find AE is lacking in some places.

  • These just keep getting better and better! Awesome Job!

  • Very clean very hot :)

  • @ManservantPablo Thanks >.<

  • Bravo. Very different and unique.

  • Are you sure your not from the BBC and your testing our reaction to next years titles beacuse they are brilliant!

  • @DALEK2626 Aww thanks mate :)

  • Brilliant...just brilliantandoo....such a brilliant and shocking intro mate - well done!!

  • Best. Christmas Pressie. Ever. ;)

  • Truly an epic Woodhall wonder (and friends) - I love the tunnel effect and the big bang! Sterling, first - class work of the highest order!

  • AMAZING! :D Well done! x

  • You Are Freaking Awsome!

  • =0

  • @4DFuturist Shhhh ;)

  • @SAMWOODHALL I'm still working it out on the plug-in lol

  • @200cake May take you a while :P

  • @SAMWOODHALL lol, the first time I tried, I ended up with the style of the current series titles, but I couldn't get into the cyclinder vortex state :S

  • @200cake You're getting there... :P

  • Jesus Harry Corbet! Wel;l you got me beat kidda

  • @walsallmatt Thanks pal :-)

  • xD Loved it! x

  • The titles are great and I bet they will suit your series! The logo VFX's was epicly done!
