High oil prices and increased oil and gas production in Russia are not excuses. Barrel of oil cost 15$ in 1994 but now the price is 90$/barrel. At the same time Russian oil-industry has risen to its feet.
Why you're saying people should shut up about oil money for the sake of Russia's "democracy"? It's ok to have oil but to give credit to Putin for stabilizing the country, thus giving credit for oligarchy, that's just plain shit. I really doubt if he even controls the state behind the scenes.

Andrei Bogdanov collect millions of votes in the southern respublics. Putin doesnt take down any opposition. The law is. Russia is not like the USA where every fucking moron can become a presidentscandidate and even president. The one who got enough signature's participate, the ones who don't don't. period.

Are you sincerely so stupid to belive Kasjanov faked his signatures when some nobody named Andrei Bogdanov got his 2 million signatures through with no problems? His Democratic Party only gained 90,000 votes in the last Duma election and he was formerly a PR-advisor for Putin-Medvedev United Russia party. You don't think there's any possibility he would be just a puppet?

Kasjanov had political ambitions and that is why he was ousted from the Kreml. Hodorkovski financed the opposition so Jukos was driven to bankruptcy and later mostly bought by Gazprom(Kreml).
Some media are free but they're not major factors and government doesn't give new licenses to new(private) tv-channels.

It is a custom in Russia that the elite doesn't need to pay taxes. If they get into taxation problems, it only means they have offended Kreml.
