I am afraid I cant remember the rinse thing, although i do remember that the cool down is lovely and high - jut over half way up the door!
The reason for the lack of Hotpoint distribution is because it aint a Hotpoint! Its actually a Zanussi S-series machine, that was commissioned by Hotpoint and sold to fill a gap in their machine lineup.
blimey - what a twit i am. Just dawned on me what you were getting at! No - no distribute whatsoever at all on this one. Its fitted with an induction motor and old induction motors only had two speed settings - basically wash and spin - one speed or the other. The machine just tumbles at wash speed and then will jump straight into spin, with no distribute.
I remember these models well but never got to see one in action. I didn't realise they had such a low spin speed, or were there faster spin models available?
Not the drum - the door bowl is actually purple plastic! All hotpoint liberators were styled like this from 1973 to 1979. very rare machines - be they the original hotpoints, or the zanussi versions.
Sounds very smooth, good job on the restoration.

Ok :). Can I also ask you why a lot of old washers will have the wash and rinse cycle but at the end you have to set it to a seperate spin cycle?

Was there a dryer the same style?
deeveyboy 2 years ago
There was a purple liberator dryer, but it was to the GEC Hotpoint design and not a zanussi clone, like the 1826.

as far as the Hotpoint versions were concerned this, the 1826, was the fastest at 520rpm. The 1823 cold fill only machine was slower at 380rpm!
