  • Waldner is a god!

  • Waldner, Power (squash) and Fed. The best shot makers of their respective sports.

  • Fed in his prime.

  • Waldner got great kick-ass from RSM that time, he-he.

  • The shots aren't comparable, but their character is, Waldner didn't look, he's the bigger douchebag :3

  • well, that's no big deal what waldner is doing

  • Waldner <3

  • STOP arguing! They are both champions!!!

  • These are both ridiculously hard shots... impossible to compare! I play tennis to a national level and it is a stupidly difficult shot. Ive also played table tennis and havent even tried this...

  • @RandomStuffLookAts In tennis you loop, drive, block and hit. Actually play tennis before you judge.

  • press 6 for the most epic NOOOO of all times :D

  • Tennis is way harder than Table tennis and cannot be compared i guess , tennis players they do play table tennis for practice sometimes but never seen a TT player practicing some tennis.

and they are both my 2 favorite games

  • @MrKAMization

Table tennis is more of a "pick up and play"-sport, yes... But at a pro level I think they are just as hard.

  • @eldsprutandedrake of course TT is not easy to master it , but in tennis more energy is required in my opinion , coz u moving in a bigger area , and arm has to be strongg , in TT speed and reaction gotta be in made in a second . thats wat i think lol .

  • @RandomStuffLookAts Yes thats my point too, and i think TT is way better than "regular" tennis. I think you misread my comment on that part.

  • Anybody who says that tennis is harder than table tennis is either freaking retarder or too young to ever have played it while it was still at least a little bit popular

  • WALDNER

  • tennis is a lot harder by far

  • Thumbs up if u think minecraft is squarecraft...

  • press 6 for epic "noooooooooooooo" lol :)

  • Just read Topspinify's comment than u know!.

  • 0.25 LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Waldner knew his shoot is point :P

  • @Topspinify you're retarded. You try and be good in tennis and in tabletennis. You will notice you won't be able to get any good consisent ball the first 2 years or so.

  • yee

  • jaja a really big difference here it´s that Waldner must take care from ball spin and Federer doesn´t kneed to take care about it a lot.

  • @marioehw Federer also has to cover a lot more ground and a lot more strength is needed for tennis than table tennis. Federer's shot is much harder to pull off.

  • How is Feder's shot harder to pull off? All he had to do was run to it, Waldner had less than a split second to anticipate the direction of his oponenet's ball, then had to read the spin with his eyes, listen to the ball, and then feel the ball on his rubber and place it so perfectly on a little ass table lol.

You think chasing a ball is harder than that?! lol

  • @Care4URchameleon federer's shot was better. i've played both tennis and table tennis. you have to be MUCH more athletic for tennis than table tennis. sure there was a lot more spin on waldner's shot than on the shot that federer had to return but once waldner read it all he had to do was tap it back. What you don't realize is how fast you have to be to even reach the ball that federer hit let alone hit a winner off of it. Federer's shot also requires much more strength than waldner's shot.

  • @joedragon88 you're not even good in any of the sports so shut ur fukin mouth bitch

  • @goodhitsofthesummer excuse me do i know u? if u don't have anything constructive to add to the conversation then stfu :o ur a retard that can only trash talk without knowledge of anything lol.

  • @joedragon88 what i do know is you have no idea.

  • @goodhitsofthesummer Lol again you don't have anything to defend your claims. What part of what i said does not make sense? Please tell me. Try going back to school and maybe you can learn how to carry out an intelligent conversation. Until then you are just a waste of time. I'd be better off talking to a wall than a sad excuse of a person such as yourself lol.

  • @joedragon88 im just saying you don't know anything, need proof for that too?

  • @goodhitsofthesummer Lol you obviously have comprehension problems. Stop replying, you are embarrassing yourself with your stupidity.

  • @joedragon88 Wow you're so cool writing "lol" in every message.. stupid.

  • @goodhitsofthesummer What's wrong with lol? You should be used to people laughing at you by now lol.

  • @joedragon88 i would say they are quite similar, as the average ball speeds in either game are quite close, tennis being perhaps faster but not by much, where as table tennis you have so much less time to react to

  • @decoyla I stand by my previous comment that Federer's shot is harder to pull off. Waldner's shot seems like it could be achieved by other table tennis players but u have to be a true tennis genius to pull off federer's shot. also tennis ball speeds can be much faster than table tennis with table tennis speeds topping out at 70mph. Tennis serves regularly go 130+ (record is 156) and groundstrokes 90+ (record is 118). However, i do agree that much better reflexes r needed for table tennis.

  • @Care4URchameleon Mate if you actually played tennis you would know how difficult it is to pull off that shot. It was like perfectly hit into the court which is difficult when you're off balanced. Not saying Waldner's shot was easy. Both great shots, but don't underestimate tennis.

  • @Care4URchameleon you obviously dont play tennis and have no idea of it

  • @Care4URchameleon both shots are pure magic and there is no need to argue which one is harder to pull of, those are different sports after all.. Give credit where it is due though - not only Federer have to chase the ball but also create just enough balance after the full sprint and calculate a perfect racquet angle/strength with which to hit the ball in order to make a passing shot when his opponent was at the net covering most of the court. Waldner's shot, however, is pure genius too :)

  • @Care4URchameleon you're not seriously suggesting that jan ove had the better shot right? lol i love table tennis, and i'm a fan of waldners but tennis is seriously a difficult sport. Federer is a true athlete and i think fed's shot was by far the harder shot to achieve.

  • @Care4URchameleon

I don't have an opinion either way on Waldner's shot, but saying all Federer had to do was run to the ball is such a brutally inaccurate way of describing what he had to do to pull that shot off.

  • tennis and table tennis are sports incredible, impossible not playing any of them becoming addicted

  • Just because the name is this video good

  • Both of them could not really to look at the place where to put the ball. Both were unbalanced, the ball almost unachievable. But I guess that Waldner had an aditional purpose do not to look at; Federer, couldn't at all, he was running desperately.

  • I'm big fan of Federer and I remember seeing this game and this shot was something special. But I have to agrre that the Waldner shot was an epic win! The guy didn't look back! :o

  • - What makes table tennis a some sort of "unique" are the weird ,"magical" and personal services done by the players. (Ma Lin, Kenta, Wang Liqin, etc).

  • -.-

tennis is a slow sport, you see wheelchair players being able to get the time to move around comfortably (even if its two bounces), when weelchair players in table tennis will not have any time due to the explosive power required

screw you people if you think table tennis is any less tiring, the reason waldner at this age still played is because the point system makes the matches shorter therefore older players can retire later...

i loved both these shots, i dont prefer either one PERIOD!

  • @Mitha4 Wheelchair players don't serve 140 mph or anything like that, since they can't jump, so it is physically impossible for them to reach those speeds. So your argument about how tennis being a slow sport due to wheelchair tennis being slow is invalid. Obviously explosive footwork is required in tennis, and also table tennis.

  • everybody taht agree with me that waldner is the best table tennis player ever do a thomb up for me

  • @waldner97 its all about the TIMO BOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • @waldner97

I think he is the best player to give thomb up for me ;D Had pleasure of playing a semi-serious exhibition match with him and managed to pass him from backhand with a nice body deception and got thumb up for that.

  • Well there's only 1 sport that owns all, SOCCER!!!!

  • @longnhardstuff - AMEN!

  • @evlblue Notice how no1 can say anything... =)

  • tennis requires more endurance than table-tennis. how often do you ever hear of knee injuries in table-tennis, or wrist injuries or injuries period. tennis is a lot more physically demanding. i mean, seriously, how old is waldner here? tennis players could rarely play at the level required by ATP and GS contenders once a certain age is reached.

  • @Fernandez218 That a sport requires more physicall on legs doesn't makes it better than others, otherwise athletic runners would the best, tennis is not an equilibrated sport, cuz as you said brings many physical injuries and only privileged people on legs, young people, can play it in tournament level, i rather table tennis cuz everyone can play it and get the to their own limit and stay there for long time.. equilibrium makes it closer to be perfect, i guess..

  • @TheWhiskasBoy like i said, "tennis requires more endurance than table-tennis". i'm not putting down table-tennis nor being condescending from a tennis perspective; i said what i said.

i like table tennis and i like tennis. they're both sports but to compare both these specific shots is a bit on the ridiculous side. Federer was on a sprint. Waldner was on a half-lunge stretch, and even that is a bit of a stretch.

  • Tennis is a nice sport, table tennis is nice too. I like tennis and love table tennis. We have to respect every sport. Tennis is not easy as it seems, table tennis is not easy either. So we can´t say what of them is better.

  • difference between tennis and table tennis: Apart from Asia no one really cares about professional table tennis apart from being a fun game to play with friends which it is.

Where as tennis is competitive and globally endorsed.

If you win a grandslam say wimbledon you get £800,000 pounds.

if you win a table tennis tournament you get maximum 50,000

  • @leoandmyles still, it is recognized as an Olympic sport.

  • @leoandmyles

Not competitive? Table tennis is huge in both Europe, its birthplace, and Asia, and is equally as demanding as any other major sport. If the prize money is your ruler, then is football more competitive than tennis or swimming? No, yet football players can rake in millions easily with their contracts.

Both sports require inordinate amounts of time to master. Can one of your friends play at the level of a pro? I don't think so.

  • @leoandmyles u get money and stuff off your sponsors for winning tt tournaments too..

  • Cool guys don't look at their finishes(8)

  • !! Not even a smille!!!!

  • I believe tennis and table tennis are not similar sports. They are almost the opposite of eachother. Tennis is about power, swing, powerful footwork and good feeling for the ball. While table tennis is about mind and creativity - which must be combined with power and feeling to reach the top! ✔✔✔

  • @Topspinify Then you have no idea about table tennis, footwork is essential, without it you can not be a good player. You have to move for every single shot you make back and forth, left to right. It is not as easy as you think

  • @bartek4443 in fact, table tennis is REALLY difficult

  • @bartek4443 i play both and i can say footwork in tennis is way harder on the muscles

  • @evilgart What level do you play table tennis at.?Footwork doesn't really help if you have bad technique or are not able to topspin 10-20 balls on the table because even if your on position, you will miss due to technique or bad timing. Even amatuer tennis players can get tired chasing the ball but you have to be consistent to get tired playing table tennis, which takes a lot of practice.

  • @bartek4443 im very consistent i top spin like anyone with a good technique and i get tired a lot after an hour or 2 its just that tennis covers more ground and rallies are in average longer unlike table tennis where there are a lot of short points even though there are long points too but hey im not trying to say one is better than the other i enjoy both

  • Squash shots you mean

  • federer is the best

  • Great comparison! The shots a virtually identical :)

  • yeh precies dezeflde slag in 2 totaal verschillende sporten

  • Waldner !

  • Table tennis has nothing to do with tennis. It's like comparing a Ferrari to a Skoda, tennis being the Skoda.

  • you cannot compare Tennis to Table Tennis. Ping pong is the sport where the footwork is based on strength in full speed. Tennis in big slam opens is a marathon like you say, endurance and strength. Speed of the movement is different folks.

  • federer is the best. no question

  • Waldner 1 life dawg!! Nice vid!! :)

  • Oh man, Im so glad you made this video. I couldn't help but think when watching Waldner that he reminded me of Federer. Great athletes!

  • Diffrence: Waldner no-look, Federer look =)

    Waldner win lol

  • @EetSmakelijk err federer effort waldner little effort... federer win =)

  • @chaosblood88

xD pwning ur opponent with less effort is more win in my opinion =P

  • @EetSmakelijk i witnessed federer beat tommy hass at the wimbledon last year with little effort it wasnt as enjoyable as the next match i watched. the crowd like to see them stretch themselves to their limit. showing u can do a winning shot in extreme situations shows your skill...federer showed more skill

  • @chaosblood88

Ryu is one of the fastest players in the world, 100% FH. If u outplace him like this and dont even bother to look, I consider that more skill than outplacing Tommy on a tennis court, because outplacing ur opponent is easier on a tennis court anyway.

  • @EetSmakelijk Federer didn't look until after he hit the ball. Waldner just didn't bother to look. Although Waldner's looked cool I feel he has more skill in comparison to Federer.

  • @EetSmakelijk he means they had the same technique ;)

  • @EetSmakelijk try to hit a shot like Federer's one and then talk...the distance was much more and he was running..

  • @EetSmakelijk in table tennis you can hear the ball get on the table so you don't have to look.

in tennis the whole court sounds the same...

  • @Branovix and do you think in table tennis the whole table doesnt sound same?

  • @nike1717 what's your problem?? what you're saying isn't about what i'm saying. i just say that the table makes a little sound. when it gets on the ground you hear almost nothing. in tennis the court sounds the same as the sides.

  • @EetSmakelijk he didn't... :)

  • @EetSmakelijk federer is way better lol xD!

  • Good observation dude......

    this is a perfect video

  • two genius legends making asians look bad! haha

  • asians never looked good in tennis anyway.

  • i play tennis and tabletennis and allthough they are technically different, if you are good at one you are usually good at the other...

  • haha i also do both and im good in both^^

  • @michaelmcguire93 i played both , now only table tennis. I found that TT helped my positioning in tennis

  • @michaelmcguire93 your wrong, i've played tennis for 10 years, i found it easy to pick up table tennis... if u started with table tennis you would find it hard to pick up tennis because the two sports may look similar but they arn't.

tennis u actually have to have fitness tabletennis not as much. tennis u use your upper arm more, tabbletennis u use more of your wrist.

good technique is easier to pick up in tabletennis than in tennis because there is less margin for error.

  • @chaosblood88 you don't think there is fitness in table tennis? You couldn't be more wrong haha.

  • @bartek4443 Oh come on. You may need a moderate level of fitness for table tennis, but nothing like tennis, or other "larger" sports.

  • @hardtomakeanamelol I play tennis as well and I am not oblivious to the fact that tennis is a game that takes extreme physical conditioning, but table tennis is more fast-paced and requires faster-twitch muscles. You have 1-2 seconds between rallies in tennis, whereas in table tennis you have .2-.4 sec. The forehand topspin strokes in both sports are very fast and demanding.

  • @hardtomakeanamelol How do you know? Have you ever conditioned for table tennis?

  • @hardtomakeanamelol You need not-even-moderate amounts of hand-eye-coordination, but nothing like table tennis, badminton, or other 'hard' sports....

Sound dumb? Yeah, but your comment's the same. It's just different - if TT were easy, ppl wouldn't need to train 6-9 hours a day to stay at the top. Fitness levels may not be on par with tennis, but in tennis, spin doesn't matter 1/4 as much, and you have much bigger margins.

  • @Yondaime3490 What's with the aggressiveness? I like tennis, and badminton, and I love ping pong too. I just think it would take Waldner 3 times longer to run a mile than, say, any ranked ATP player. I'm not saying table tennis is technically any easier. And by the way, the margins are not comparable, I am disappointed that you say "you have much bigger margins" when referring to tennis.

  • @12OclockLow I'm fed up with ppl bashing a sport they dont know. Most ppl criticizing TT have no idea of the difficulty of the game.

I don't wanna say Tennis is easy on a competitive level, I just pointed out that there are things about it that are much easier than in TT (just like there are things in TT that are easier). And the margins ARE bigger - I've seen many rallys where they play more than 1m away from the sidelines..not that I could do better :D

  • @Yondaime3490 Well if it makes you feel any better, I wasn't bashing TT at all, and I actually quite enjoy it myself.

  • @hardtomakeanamelol Sorry if I attacked you on a personal level - your comment was a bit misleading as far as I'm concerned, it sounded like the typical "you need no fitness for TT" kind of thing....anyway, no reason for me to get all worked up. Sorry.

  • I played TT for a number of years before I tried lawn tennis. I felt that picked up the basics of the latter much faster. But that might be because I was already experienced in TT (though I feel that have almost nothing in common, technically). Physical fitness definately plays a more important role, even at the novice level, in lawn tennis. Fitness in TT only begins to matter at the more elite levels, where technical development is generally the same.

  • cool!

  • kids, kids, i see a lot of arguing about tennis and table tennis going on...

let's be clear about this: the two games CANNOT be compared.

in tennis games can last for hours and you are forced to run all the time. this requires stamina.

in table tennis games are shorter but you have to run and jump in a half-crouched position all the time like crazy. this requires explosiveness.

tennis is like running 4000 thousands meters, table tennis like 100 meters. can you compare those two? no...

  • personally, i prefer table tennis for it's technical superiority due to the spin component, but some people probably prefer lawn tennis for some other reason.

there is no "better" sport of the two, it's a personal preference.

  • 100 meters in each point idiot

  • if that were true nobody would be able to play more than 2 points. :D

you underestimate the 100m dash... ever notice how bulky and strong sprinters are compared to long runners?

all i'm saying is that both are very demanding but also different.

  • yea totally agree. but it can be backwards too. allot of rallys in ping pong last longer, and require quick movements for long periods of time. tennis requires explosive movement for a limited amount of time. most points only last 4 - 10 hits, depending on how you play. i play both sports rather well, and must say i sweat more in ping pong.

  • u must be a strange tennis player then lol

  • haha yea it seeems so. but if all u go for is winners, then the points shouldnt last so long

  • millionairejh, you've got it exactly backwards. You couldn't be more wrong about Tennis and pong. Tennis rallies require MUCH more running and the rallies are FAR longer than a ping pong rally. While the highlight reels of pong you've been watching may seem long, most table tennis points are only 4-5 or thereabout on average. Tennis is a marathon, watch the Australian open when it comes on ESPN in a few months. You'll notice the points in tennis last significantly longer than pong points.

  • i said both is possible.

  • @squashskunk thats redicilous, since only on gravel there are long rallies in tennis.

tennis on hardcore is just like tabletennis, finished in 4-5 strokes.

  • @Izraphel tennis games are long becouse they take 40-50 sek between every ball and have a lot of pauses.the time of hitting the ball is the same.and yeah a tennis player runs longer but they NEVER plays more than one match a day and then they rest for at least 48 ours.

table tennis players are fare more great athletes than tennis players.

  • @backsmoker In tennis-20 seconds max between points, 90 seconds between changeovers, 2 minutes between sets. Tennis rallies generally last longer, players cover much more distance while often sprinting nearly all-out, each shot requires more exertion, and matches are often played outdoors in hot weather. TT players are certainly great athletes for many reasons, but you can't compare them to tennis players in terms of fitness level.

  • @thehunto1 as tennis players can't be compared with the eye-hand coordination and precision under the speed level required in Table Tennis players.

  • @backsmoker i can say only xa-xa-ha-ha

  • nnnnouuuuooo.....wassss is dassss....

  • tennis is the toughest mental sport i've competed in and i do mixed martial arts.

  • yeah cuz Chuck Liddell is a genuis right

    moron

  • *genius

  • and Chuck is barely a top 10 fighter anymore, please refrain from commenting on things you have no clue about you stupid douchebag. I play both tennis and table tennis to a high standard, i'm actually better at table tennis but tennis is by far the most grueling mental sport there is as there are long drawn out points and games, with many twists and turns it is virtually impossible to stay focused through a full match, where as table tennis points are shorter as are the sets.

  • You sir are a retard. Did i say at any point that mental toughness translated to intelligence? You have no idea think before you post things, you fool! Mirko cro cop is extremely intelligent individual, but is mentally weak, when under pressure. And any person who trains in mma would know full well there is no way an idiot can reach the pinacle of one of the most complex sports without being smart as mma has far more assets to it than any sport. PS chuck went to college and got a degree.

  • pinnacle*

    Chuck may have a degree

BUT i highly doubt u do

    moron

  • muhahaha you are verbally owned, and thats all you can come up with for shame, and just for a fact i am currently doing a law degree and manchester university, which will probably mean my salary after uni will triple yours.

  • verbally? u shouldnt talk

" I am currently DOING a law degree"

yeah i feel bad for any moron who hires you to defend them

    you english sucks

  • *your

  • you english? very nice, the irony is ever so sweet. Also should i hire a proof reader to post comments on youtube? Maybe hiding behind your keyboard gives you confidence to act like such a prick. When in reality you are a insignificant little weed with no friends.

  • PING PONG is chinese

    & it's better than tennis

Tennis doesnt have 1/3r the spin of ping pong

I crush all tennis players whom think they can transition to pong!

They simply can't handle my serves!!!!!

  • tennis is played on an actual lifesized court and ping pong is.. oh WAIT, it's played on a table. therefore you don't need 3 times the spin to win in tennis because you actually have to be athletic to play. and btw, idk any tennis player who would WANT to transition to ping pong. it's just not worthy of our full time devotion.

ps. if you think your pussy ass ping pong serve can even compare to one in tennis, you are mistaken.

pps. nice job deleting your last response faggot. too embarrased?

  • nope im not ur mother nor ur gf

    so im not embarrased

unlike you i confront people from OUTSIDE my house or computer

    bet u do like tennis

LOVE THAT FURRY BALLS FEEL right?

  • NICE ONE!! faggot

i don't even need to your dumbshit comebacks. seriously who tries so hard as to sit at the computer for sometime (don't deny that you don't because it's obvious in your comment) and think of "clever" things to say. and then space them out to make it look neat. give me some relevant fucking information about what we're talking about or sit the fuck down. no one cares about your "furry balls feel right" bullshit.

  • You contradict yourself

1st you mention i sit on the computer

THEN u tell me to sit the fuck down

    Ur quite redundant arent you

I OWNED U anyone who read this will know

    haha i win

  • wow again with the lame comments. i'm not literally telling you to sit down you faggot, it's an expression. and yes, you owned me dude. you TOTALLY owned me with your off topic, trying to be clever but not, stupid in general, insults. need i remind you that you posted this as a comment and then deleted it?

"ill own ur ass in a fight

    come see me

    412 Parkridge Drive Pittsburgh Pa

    do somethin"

do i even need to reply? i don't think so.

  • It's a totally different sport... I'm not surprised you can beat tennis players who play ping pong... The strokes are entirely different and I doubt you could beat any decent tennis player :)

  • After reading some comments againt table tennis:

I don't know how can some people who don't know anything about table tennis think they know table tennis.

  • exactly!

Tennis doesnt have 1/3rd the spin ping pong has!

PING PONG = faster, more intense, & mentally more skillful game that tennis

  • Ping Pong is awesome

Tennis is a yuppie queer sport

    i hate tennis

  • ping pong was invented when rich old englishmen wanted to play tennis indoors.

  • WRONGO!

Table Tennis was invented by English yes!

BUT the english got tennis from Badminton which was chinese!

  • "The game has its origins in England as an after-dinner amusement for upper-class Victorians in the 1880s. Mimicking the game of tennis in an indoor environment, everyday objects were originally enlisted to act as the equipment. A line of books would be the net, a rounded top of a champagne cork or knot of string as the ball, and a cigar box lid as the racket[2]." - wiki

  • Because your fatass rather stay in place instead of doing some cardio and moving like in most sports

  • oh well ill just burn off the extra calories

    by fucking ur mother !

    shut up queer!

  • Why would you even think about that? You got tired of fuckin your own mother because she was making fun of your dick so you feel like you need a change? You can only dream of coming close to my mother you slut. Stick to your hand and see how many calories you can burn

  • L-A-M-E

keep ur insults short ( like ur dick)

    it adds more zing

  • What insult??? i was only telling the truth. Sorry if it offended you. You son of a bitch

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzz ...

sorry were u trying to zing me

fell asleep..... after using mother as a sperm dumpster

  • No wonder your such a fat bitch...All you do is eat and sleep. Its ok though. You must of took that from your mom

  • Vc observou muito bem, o raciocíneo dos dois foi praticamente o mesmo...

  • thanks for making this video!

  • u guys are all retarded table tennis is the fastest and best sport ever

  • i agree, love it

  • You can't expect to be as good as an olympic table tennis player by being fat as one idiot here thought was possible. TableTennis requires a lot of reaction time and the game is a lot faster although it does not require as much strength as tennis. But if you're good enough tactically, you don't have to waste as much energy in tennis either.

  • "Naaoo, get out of here" That is a real english man

  • Federer is great, but unlike Waldner, he looked at the ball. (or did I see wrongly?)

  • waldners shot is harder to do cus table tennis is 10x faster then tennis and federer dont need to run in his fastest speed to catch the ball. he have problaby done that xxx times aswell on training

  • Waldner !!!

  • i vote for waldner =)

  • Both looks hard impossible to compare.

But Waldner is seriosly a bigger legend then Federer.

  • Waldner never dominated his sport the way Federer did, not even close.

  • lol, he did. For instance he won OS 1992 with 3-0 every match!!!

Dont forgett all milions tabletennis from China. Its mutch mutch harder to win a world titel ore OS in table te
