There are multiple denominations of Buddhism in Tibet. Dalai Lama is one of the leaders of Gelug, one of the denominations. It is hard to say that rejecting Dalai Lama is equal to killing Buddhism in Tibet.

If you know your Chinese history, then you'll know it was to he, as of head state, that the trade mission was sent in the early 1940s.

First I want to clarify some points. Dalai Lama is the leader of the Gelug in the front part of Tibet, around Lhasa. While Panchen Lama is the leader in other parts of Tibet, who is still now in Tibet. I have visited the temples for both leaders and other denominations in Tibet. I dont feel that there is any criminalization of certain Buddhism by that time. Actually I am happy to take a lot of photoes with the lamas and Tibetan :)

There are 56 ethnic groups in China, if the Chinese government allows Tibet to be independant, then they will have to be fair to the other 55 ethnic groups and let them be free too. If this happens, China will be torn into pieces... Tibet belongs to China and Chinese government has been generous to Tibet people, if it's not for the Chinese government, Tibet won't have enough food and water to survive.
