@botxxx333 how do you flip that haha i have an balisong and flip so i know a bit about flipping. My neighbor got this for $10 at a flee market and i have no idea how to flip it. For flipping the weight is skewed and handles to wide; there is no easy rotating of the handles here. Its just different so it can sell.

Being a fan of true balisongs, I tried experimenting with a few tricks using the Columbia knife I got. Within a week, one of the pins snapped right off (luckily I was trying a horizontal and not a vertical technique). The pins holding the 2 handles to the blade are so weak It's probably the most dangerous knife I've ever handled. The S&W version on the other hand (though sporting only one "handle") has a locking mechanism and rotates on much thicker (thus stronger) pins.

It's called a "side winder" knife. I've seen 4 variants total of it (including the one in this vid). 2 by some generic nameless companies, one by a company called "Columbia" (not to be confused with CRKT) and one by Smith and Wesson. S&W refers to their side winder (called the Viper) as a "side flip" knife. I would advise against buying any sidewards opening knives other than the Viper. They're far too dangerous. I've owned all but the Viper and the way it's constructed is shit (cont.)

man seeing this makes me miss the one i had. it was nice too with the anodize like flamed titanium. to anyone who has one, eventually these fly apart. as the hinges on these are just held on by the pins. when it does weld some short 1/4"od 1/16" wall stainless tube to each side of the blade and 2 short pieces to each handle. when pinned each side will be a much stronger hinge.

It is a gravity knife, because it's not spring loaded. But it falls under the subcategory of tri-fold or also know as sandwich blade ( as oppose to channel blade). Obviously cuz it's 3 pieces folded when closed, and the blade is sandwiched b/n the handles.

not when u twirl, flip in the air then catch it in the other hand, u can still get cut on the blade. it happened to me a couple of times when i first got the knife. so either start off real slow or tape the blade with duct tape when you first start practicing with one.
