  • Do yourself a favor and use Studio 4 instead. getstudio4[dot]com

It has a realtime kernel and runs entirely in RAM!

    It is SO much better!

  • Needs to be a dam Linux Mobile!

  • LINUX ROCKS...I never leave home with out it!

  • cursor changes to busy just for going through the menus and you fanfags blame windows for being a resource hog... this primitive OS is for the nerds who get off by finding newer ways of doing things with more difficulty. get windows, get a life.

  • @arnab1021976 linux is better, it's simple like that. My pc uses only 250mB ram. It boots very fast. Windows is more old fashioned then ubuntu my friend. There is no inovation there, while linux is innovating al the time, thanks to the open source world, you can have anything you want in your os. The only thing it lacks is the support of other companys like adobe, game devs, ... Windows and mac don't want to share their beautifull money making bussiness.

  • NECros, please i need your help, since Ubuntu forums think I'm a retrd for not reading some manual that does not exist.

    Here is my problem:

when i installed a NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 GPU, Ubuntu 9.10 would not start at all, then changed to 10.04, I downloaded all of nVIDIA's drives and COMPIZ, worked good for the first 2 days, now, when i try to start Ububtu, an image -like the one from your video-, appears, with the slogan "UBUNTU STUDIO" and thats it, Ubuntu wont start, do I have to re install?

  • I'm new to ubuntu, I've just installed Karmic Koala 9.10 and been learnig since then, I'm not a programmer but the community is very helpful, so far the problems that aroused I fixed them all. How do you do all those fx with the windows? Thanks

  • @MaghoxFr hi the way to do all those cool FX things is a program called compiz you can find it in ubuntu software centre hope that helps!

  • thanks, I already installed it, I'll try it out this days. I'm having some trouble with my graphics card

  • i like cairo dock doc better than awm.

  • I think Gnome Do is the best. It doesn't look as good. But it has a really cool search function. You press Super(windows) + Space to use it.

  • how do you get that bottom bar that looks like macs

  • gnome panel wigets

  • @lewisvz he's right

  • Ух ты, русский.

  • sux vista buttons

  • YARRR!!!1111

  • How do you get a dock menu like that? Or that clock widget?

  • widget for gnome

  • the thing on the bottom is called avant window navigator (awn). You can find it in your package manager or add/remove programs.

  • can i use this netbook version on the desktop?

  • Why not?

  • Dino yea you can. Not sure why you would want to though. You lose a lot when running the netbook os that i just dont like giving up. Like the ability to change my WM but thats just me. I only use openbox anymore you should give it a shot.

  • thanks buddy. i have one pc for experimental purposes only. so i will give it a try. Thanks for your reply once again

  • Does ubuntu studio use Gnome?

    I'm more used to Gdm.

  • yes, this is gnome...

  • Thanks! that was fast XD

I was planning on replacing my Kubuntu with US tomorrow. I found out sound editing software is installed with it.

Oh yeah, is compiz installed with it just like the standard Ubuntu so I just have to install ccsm?

  • On this video working full compiz :)

But he slows the system :(

ps. on video is not quite standard Studio

  • linux uses less ram, graphic card and everything like that but windows is in second place coz it needs too much ram and mac not in the list........

  • i have a problem installing this, because i get a call trace, then end trace command while booting in from grub. i have a hp 6735s and i use 64 bit, any ideas?

  • Linux it's now much better... but, it needs something very important: Compatibility.

  • Be more specific. The Linux developers can't make all the programs if the people don't make programs for Linux.

Linux is very compatible, as compatible as Windows.

Yes, I'm also talking about hardware.

My Linux Mint 7 recognized inmediatly my motherboard, my DVD burners, my screens, my audio card, my printer, etc.

Even my graphic card. It only needed to download a small package (the drivers) from internet. Automatically.

  • Well you're lucky.

Linux didn't recognize my headset, video card, webcam or printer when I installed it.

The only one of those I managed to get working was my video card.

    Never use 64 bit Ubuntu.

  • more like "never use ubuntu"

    but also "never use windows"

    ;)

  • never use mac.

shit that slims the choices down.

believe me, if your not stupid ubuntu is the best way to go. If you cant search some google tutorials and learn from there, maybe you dotn belong on a computer.

  • lol you're right!

  • @antifrituras

i agree!!!!!! i love the whole linux thing....in fact...fuck windows...this shit sucks and it's boring as fuck.. i cant even change the menu unless i crack the .dlls and install something over it that would void my warranty(wich is prolly over) fuck that shit...seeing the same ass buttons gets old....until we get companies making stuff for LINUX and WINDOWS then windows will dominate(due to compability). if only windows drivers worked in linux then we wudnt have this problem :/

  • i can`t close the windows with the water effects :(

  • bravo

  • that shit is sweet. cant wait to get some of those effects on mine, upgrade to studio in progress

  • OMG!!!

  • Dude. Your computer is TRIPPY!

  • is kubuntu and compiz fusion wiiiiiiiiiiii good

  • its gnome, not kde (ubuntu, not kubuntu)

    ;)

hmm i was actually hoping to see some of the studio features.. this is compiz

  • Studio have additional multimedia soft, no more...

  • And thats the future baby !!!
