  • boolshets f15 its soviet tecnology of mig 25 japan remember?

  • mig 29 is a nice design... the f-16 has fly by wire...but the mig 29 doesn't. the 2 planes are just about the same by performance.

  • i've seen migs and su's up close at air shows and museums...i cant believe those things are hard core machines, they look like they were put together with staples and tin foil

  • @MilitantOldLady US Navy F18 and F16s had tested the Mig 29 and sukhois in dogfight ove Indian Ocean during joint exercise with India and Malaysia.US planes lost 90% of the engagements.

  • @ali4330

That is a complete lie. You have no proof for that statement and i cant even see where you are coming from.

  • @nem1 I did read about it somewhere in the internet.US always gloat about their weapons but they forgot that others also had produced similar aif not better weapons.I bet you also didnt read about chinese submarine surfaced within strking distance from US armada near Taiwan.US so called superior technology failed detecting them .It was a warning that if war broke down,US navy could be easily destroyed.Mind you chinese subs not really sophisticated

  • @ali4330

Reading random facts from the internet is point;ess.. For one this the US NAVY doesnt even fly the F-16, and the USAF certainly doesnt fly them over oceans for war games activities. Get some real facts that you can actually provide sources for, but picking up and spreading random lies and information from blog sites is just a waste of time.

  • @ali4330 I tend to believe this. I read something similar, only it had been an exercise with German MiGs from the former East Germany. I understand that the key issue was the helmet mounted sights combined with the off-bore capability of the Russian missiles. The MiG pilots just had to look at the opponent, and that was it. We in the US tend to delude ourselves into thinking that we are always better.

  • @DandAinTac There is a technicality with the helmet sights. You can cue a missle off bore, but you usually cant just launch a missle when your aiming way off the nose. Missles cant turn and track that kind of angle without losing the target. It helps reduce engagement time but not give a rediculous launch capability. However, some australian F18's have upgraded to include this technology.

  • @slickstrings Thanks Slick, I didn't know that. I would still argue though, that a helmet mounted sight is much better than none.

  • @DandAinTac absolutely. its definately an ingenious idea. If it works well in engagements then id feel better flying with it. I think it would be best employed when your chasing a jet thats jinking just outside your hud. or if your slowly turning inside it during a spiralling dogfights. then, you would be ready to launch as soon as its on your nose instead of the added time of aquiring.

  • @slickstrings What I don't understand is--how did the Russians come up with this and deploy it before we did--when our military budget is far greater?

  • @DandAinTac Well, i dont know about the development. But its possible american designers just didnt think it was worth it or nessisary. Development costs are pretty high already for US jets. But thats just my guess. The russians have always been clever is some of the most seemlingly simple ways.

  • @DandAinTac - Well, The MiG29 entered service in 1983. The closest US equivalent, the F-16A, entered service in 1978. So no, they were playing catch up. To say nothing of the F-14 & F-15 which were in service before that, and were both more than a match for the MiG 29

  • @grathian I meant the helmet sight, not the plane itself.

  • thanks for posting this,

I've been looking for a doc on this great plane

  • the answer to the F-14-15-16

  • correct;)
