i wouldnt have killed hitler he brought the 3rd riech to its knees by his own fumbles. if we had allowed hitler to die then well the 3rd riech very well might have succeded and well thunderfoot has a point ww2 braught us jet power atomic power new industrial strategies and farming strategies so in the whole ww2 braught us to were we are now. wars are a huge drivers of inovation and the development of new technology it deosnt mean the means justfy the ends but its something to think about.

R.Comfort contradicts himself and tries to trick T.F when asking if he thinks murder is wrong. R.C states there is no difference between killing and murder, but then says he would kill someone in self defense.
@stephjh2006 Nothing absurd about that at all, especially considering that Comfort is just employing another of his hypothetical "gotcha" questions that he spends most of his time trying to perfect whether there's validity to them or not. He's trying to bait Thunderf00t, you know. He's trying to get Thunderf00t to answer in a specific pattern so he can trap him, but Tf00t's answers aren't layman answers, and have some weight and value, something Comfort knows nothing of.

@RelientKftw EXCUSE ME... as an Aussie I would like to say he is a kiwi!! So until he wins an Oscar or is the lead of an incredible band, he is not Australian.
Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and Ted Haggard were all sitting in a hot tub together when one of them notices a glob of cum floating in the water. They all look at each other and Ray says "all right who farted!?"
hilarious to see thunderf00t slaughtered even more than in the previous debate... he avoids all questions, and sometimes starts talking about something completely irrelevant
Like user 'aledg' said, Thunderfoot was feeding into his answers way too much, and pausing to think at inappropriate moments. I understand the real time interview situation is probably a lot more difficult, but the answers to Ray's questions are totally simple and don't require all this intellectual gymnastics. But at least he is showing that he is thinking about the questions whereas Ray is just like "i follow god's rules derp" which is essentially psychopathy.
Go back and kill Hitler? you can't. even if time travel was possible. if you were to go back and drown Hitler as a baby in a river, then he wouldn't have lived on to do the things he did, there for you not having the motive to go back and kill him, since all his evil deeds would disappear. and if the future already exists, then someone in the distant future with a time machine would've already traveled back to stop him, either way, there's no winner
Is lying wrong? Ray, if you lived in Nazi Germany and Nazis came to your door asking if you were hiding Jews - and you were - in your attic, would you lie to save their life or be honest and let them (and likely yourself) get killed?
Ray's understanding history is very weird. Even we turned back to the time and kill the Hitler when he was a baby or kill his mother, similar things would still happen.
If you want to stop Hitler, you should stop Catholic Church's Anti-Semite preaching for centuries, stop German Defeat in WW1 etc etc.
"Don't argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience." Can you argue with Ray Comfort if he cannot comprehend your arguments?
No the holocaust wasn't legal, even in Nazi-Germany. Sure it was legal to lock people up in concentration camps, deport people and other nasty things. But the industrial killing of "inferior elements" were never made legal, they did hide it quite well form their own population remember.
And another thing, there is no such thing as right and wrong. These are abstract concepts which are learned from the culture we live in. There is empirical definition of these words. This is what Ray simply does not understand.
Ray has the mind of a 5 year old. His hypotheticals are meaningless. Why do religious people always bring Hitler, Nazis and WWII into morality arguments? It's irrelevant. Seems to me he's trying to quote mine. "When asked if he would kill Hitler, Thunderf00t said NO!"
You're speaking several levels above his head. He's constantly missing the point, avoiding the question and being what he call "like quicksilver". And he's constant jumping to conclusion is fucking annoying,
My lack of God, that's painful. Thunderf00t, if you're serious about conversing with people like Ray Comfort, you have to pitch your language much closer in tone to theirs than you do without contradicting your own views. These aren't scholars you're talking to here. In the eyes of Ray and his creationist cohort, you *do* come off in this video as slippery.
Thunderf00t, why on Earth do you think Euthanasia is wrong, and abortion is not? I can't believe I'm hearing this from an Atheist. I'm Pro-Choice, but do you really believe that killing a foetus is morally right, while at the same time not allowing a dying person to decide what his own time of death will be? I really find that hypocritical. For that remark alone, I've lost my trust in you.
@underdogg20 Don't lose it, I believe that mostly for the sake of the discussion he meant involuntary euthanasia. That's mostly what ray was leading him into, anyway. So don't make conclusions.
the fact is: when hitler would have been killed, his generals would have much better tactics for warfare. scientists have proven that if hitler would have been killed, his generals would have won the war. so if you would have killed hitler, there would be even more deaths and maybe even a third reich....
@MrDingedong No, that is a false statement. First of all history as a field of research is very subjective even calling it "science" is dubious at best. Secondly the point you are trying to make isn't claimed by many historians, if any, it was claimed by people like Manstein and other German generals after the war.
Truth be told the Germans never had it in them to conquer Europe, warfare is not based on random chance, (talking ofc about a macro perspective) but on economy and science.
@goat414 your statement that warfare isn't build on random chance is true, but i do think that making tactics is not a strategy of random chance. if you have a tactic to flank the enemy, you will most certain make them feel confused and kill a lot of enemies before they respond. and Hitler was a crappy person on tactics, so if he would have listened to his generals on that, maybe some things would have changed. but you are right about the scientist fact, i should have checked that (:
@MrDingedong All true and good, the German tactic was superior up to '43 or so, and they did inflict heavy losses on the Soviets. However the Soviets could take it, they could afford their losses and replace them.
The jerries were never "near" to defeat the ruskies, the russians wouldn't have surrendered even if Moscow had fallen.
Even with crappier tactics for the first two years of warfare the soviet industry, and the industry of the western powers completely outdid the German.
Ray Comfort asks Thunderf00t whether he would abort a fetus (Hitler's) to save millions of lives and when Thunderf00t asks Ray Comfort whether he would abort a fetus to save millions of lives Ray Comfort calls the question "ridiculous." How ridiculous...
@BigMTBrain All morality is is weighing the cost and benefit to yourself and others. To most of Ray's questions, can you imagine a world with no hypothetical situations?
... How come Christians (especially Mr. Comfort here) love to spout morality, good values, all this other dribble yet when TFoot prefers to be called a 'Rationalist' (which makes sense), Mr. Comfort is a -complete- dick and says 'k, as an /athiest/..." What a smartass.
The argument is very simple, if you think that morality comes from the bible then you also think slavery is okay which no one does so obviously it doesnt come from the bible - it comes from common sense.
Dude, why did you let him have control of the mic and stick that cam in your face the whole time? Obvious ploy to put you off your game and the fact he had the mic meant he controlled the whole thing - it's not a debate but an interview where he could cut you off mid-flow whenever.
Thundie... you over-complicate in these types of interviews.
The moral choice on EVERYTHING discussed here is simply a matter of one's perspective. There is NO morality outside of perspective. You think the same, but over-complicate your answers.
Murder: Hahaha... the morality of it has NOTHING to do with preserving the species, but everything to do with the PERSPECTIVE of the perpetrator, e.g., Osama, Hitler were evil to some, heroes to others. The same for all moral dilemmas.
Ray Comfort thinks he knows more about life and stuff than Tf00t, but when Tf00t gives an answer, Ray asks, "Can you answer than in English for us peasants?" Get a dictionary, man.
there is no absolute morality. there are no things that are absolutely wrong.
morality is completely subjective construct based on personal, societal, cultural and instinctive(self-preserving) values.
selfdefence with deadly force and murder are not the same thing, but the end result is still a dead person, and as i recall of the 10 comandments, it say Do Not Kill, not Do Not Murder.
I just love how the religious zealots interpret their religion as they see fit (speaking as a former christian)
"I know that murder is wrong" ... "I'd shoot him in the leg and work my way up" ... "It's self defence"...
a) It's not "self" defence if he not attacking YOU
b) What you just described IS murder. If you've shot him in the leg and he's incapacitated then he ceases to be a threat; killing him at that point becomes murder
The guy's a hypocrite. And he's not even good at it.
I wouldn't choose Rationalist. That has a very different connotation within philosophy that would suggest you are more sympathetic to Ray's point of view than you actually are. Empiricist would be more along your lines, but again not perfect.
@MatoVuc Scepticist has a historical/philosophical connotation that could potentially do more harm than Rationalist. Descartes (a rationalist) argued against Scepticists in his Meditations on First Philosophy, and they didn't come out looking too well. Although, T-Foot is definitely a Skeptic.
@SeizureDude - It wasn't that Ray was showing any unexpected level of pragmatism. It is better describes as TF tending to over-complicate his answers in interviews like this. His mind is not wired to cut to the chase. (See my expanded comment below.)
The question regarding Hitler is impossible to answer and Thunderfoot seems to know this instinctively , but not why . If you went back in time and killed Hitler then Hitler would not have done the things he did so you would not go back. It is a classic time paradox. If you met Hitler before he did the crimes , you would not know what he was going to do so you would have no reason to kill him.
Thunderfoot clearly asked to be called a rationalist with an explanation why he feels Atheist is inaccurate. Ray immediately calls him an Atheist . Can you imagine If Ray had been asked to be called Mr Comfort and Thunderfoot had immediately replied so "Ray" it is. There is a subtle control issue here with Ray clearly having a script he did not want to deviate from.
Ray Comfort is not an idiot, and most definitely understands most of what Thunderf00t is saying. You're all forgetting that this is a debate, and that the end goal of a debate is to win. Ray Comfort is manipulative and aggressive, whereas Thunderf00t is cogent but timid. Comfort knows that he's using fallacies, and because Thunderf00t lacks the confidence to proficiently debate, he lets it all slide because he's too preoccupied with defending himself and his points.
@beezaxe I think in the end partially Ray Comfort's goal is to make money. But what's interesting is I can sense he's a little insane. (And not in a lol-omg-all-Christians-are-nuts sort of way, I mean he could be diagnosed with a mental illness.) If you watch the debate with him and Kirk Cameron vs the two atheists with Martin Basheer - you can see moments where Kirk Cameron honestly believes what he's saying, but expressions on Ray Comfort's face when he goes stone cold. (con't)
@Water4Jeremiah (con't) It's as if he completely shuts down his periphery vision and gets completely focused. I say this is insanity because doing things like that to defend a belief in the supernatural, you can't help but lose yourself somewhere along that process. That's why I think somewhere deep inside Ray Comfort is a very, very dark and chaotic individual barely in control of his subconsciousness & mentally ill to the point of him lashing out at people.
@Water4Jeremiah I think you're right about Ray being insane in a literal sense. I am frightened by his ferocity in the defense of his beliefs to the point of ignoring all sense. I am christian but a logical one and I REFUSE to accept the God that Ray describes. If there are people more flexible and reasonable than God, then he isn't worthy of worship. And I honestly believe that anyone who is a "good person" regardless of their faith or lack thereof is safe from any damnation.
@Water4Jeremiah Of course he wants to make money, and that is a big reason why he acts so stubborn. He has to pertain to his audience, and I don't blame him. I would probably do the same thing. He doesn't want to be thought of as a charlatan.
@beezaxe Agreed, except for the part where you said you would probably do the same thing. I think most people have the desire to speak with cogency and timidity like Thunderf00t. That whole business about 'original sin' is also a lie - people are good by their natures but it takes religious belief to make people hate themselves and then the self-loathing naturally turns to others as it has for Ray Comfort.
Always been a dedicated fan of TF's but jeessusss, how hard is it to get him to answer a question. LIke the Hitler thing, anyone here I'm sure could answer that yes or no and back it up simply if need be. With his mother too, you'd feel bad about killing an innocent but you'd just have to do it and try and make it a good shot for the poor woman. Sure, something else could happen as a chain reaction in the future cos of anything you do, but it's worth a risk...
I love your videos Thunder but I just can't listen when you debate this dude. Both of you sound like total fools. Maybe that is why Dawkins will not debate him.
While I am an atheist and consider Ray Comfort an idiot for the most part, I don't agree with many of Thunderfoot's arguments. I especially don't agree with the way he phrased them. There is a much simpler, more effective way to communicate.
For all his talk about his morality being based on absolutes dictated by God, Ray couldn't make a choice when thunderf00t gave him a real moral quandary. This is where morality comes into play - not "is murder wrong?", but having to make a decision which has costs over benefits. If Ray shies away from such a decision, what good is his God's morality?
Thunderf00t is a liar, thief, and adulterer. But considering how much Ray Comfort has to lie that a god exists, and how much undisclosed amounts of cash he brings in annually based on that lie, then occam's razor would suggest that his sins of adultery would be far worse than anyone can imagine.
Why is it all these street preachers & televangelists always have the same two sins: monetary greed, sexual infidelity, or both? I guess when you don't have any skills, all you can hope for is wealth?
Wow this guy is thick... Won't answer double bind questions like the ones he is asking and has no idea about the structure of knowledge. I am dumber from hearing this guys voice..

Kempter1 3 months ago

If you want to stop Hitler, you should stop Catholic Church's Anti-Semite preaching for centuries, stop German Defeat in WW1 etc etc.

vrd180 4 months ago
Ray has the mind of a 5 year old. His hypotheticals are meaningless. Why do religious people always bring Hitler, Nazis and WWII into morality arguments? It's irrelevant. Seems to me he's trying to quote mine. "When asked if he would kill Hitler, Thunderf00t said NO!"

For that remark alone, I've lost my trust in you.

the fact is: when hitler would have been killed, his generals would have much better tactics for warfare. scientists have proven that if hitler would have been killed, his generals would have won the war. so if you would have killed hitler, there would be even more deaths and maybe even a third reich....
MrDingedong 4 months ago in playlist Meer video's van Thunderf00t
@MrDingedong No, that is a false statement. First of all history as a field of research is very subjective even calling it "science" is dubious at best. Secondly the point you are trying to make isn't claimed by many historians, if any, it was claimed by people like Manstein and other German generals after the war.
Truth be told the Germans never had it in them to conquer Europe, warfare is not based on random chance, (talking ofc about a macro perspective) but on economy and science.
goat414 4 months ago
@goat414 your statement that warfare isn't build on random chance is true, but i do think that making tactics is not a strategy of random chance. if you have a tactic to flank the enemy, you will most certain make them feel confused and kill a lot of enemies before they respond. and Hitler was a crappy person on tactics, so if he would have listened to his generals on that, maybe some things would have changed. but you are right about the scientist fact, i should have checked that (:
MrDingedong 4 months ago
@MrDingedong All true and good, the German tactic was superior up to '43 or so, and they did inflict heavy losses on the Soviets. However the Soviets could take it, they could afford their losses and replace them.
The jerries were never "near" to defeat the ruskies, the russians wouldn't have surrendered even if Moscow had fallen.
Even with crappier tactics for the first two years of warfare the soviet industry, and the industry of the western powers completely outdid the German.

Thundie... you over-complicate in these types of interviews.
The same for all moral dilemmas.

there is no absolute morality. there are no things that are absolutely wrong.
morality is completely subjective construct based on personal, societal, cultural and instinctive(self-preserving) values.
selfdefence with deadly force and murder are not the same thing, but the end result is still a dead person, and as i recall of the 10 comandments, it say Do Not Kill, not Do Not Murder.

I wouldn't choose Rationalist. That has a very different connotation within philosophy that would suggest you are more sympathetic to Ray's point of view than you actually are. Empiricist would be more along your lines, but again not perfect.

@spike1608 Scepticist, maybe?
MatoVuc 4 months ago
@MatoVuc Scepticist has a historical/philosophical connotation that could potentially do more harm than Rationalist. Descartes (a rationalist) argued against Scepticists in his Meditations on First Philosophy, and they didn't come out looking too well. Although, T-Foot is definitely a Skeptic.

The question regarding Hitler is impossible to answer and Thunderfoot seems to know this instinctively , but not why . If you went back in time and killed Hitler then Hitler would not have done the things he did so you would not go back. It is a classic time paradox. If you met Hitler before he did the crimes , you would not know what he was going to do so you would have no reason to kill him.
faircompetition1 5 months ago
Thunderfoot clearly asked to be called a rationalist with an explanation why he feels Atheist is inaccurate. Ray immediately calls him an Atheist . Can you imagine If Ray had been asked to be called Mr Comfort and Thunderfoot had immediately replied so "Ray" it is. There is a subtle control issue here with Ray clearly having a script he did not want to deviate from.
faircompetition1 5 months ago
Ray Comfort is not an idiot, and most definitely understands most of what Thunderf00t is saying. You're all forgetting that this is a debate, and that the end goal of a debate is to win. Ray Comfort is manipulative and aggressive, whereas Thunderf00t is cogent but timid. Comfort knows that he's using fallacies, and because Thunderf00t lacks the confidence to proficiently debate, he lets it all slide because he's too preoccupied with defending himself and his points.
beezaxe 5 months ago
@beezaxe I think in the end partially Ray Comfort's goal is to make money. But what's interesting is I can sense he's a little insane. (And not in a lol-omg-all-Christians-are-nuts sort of way, I mean he could be diagnosed with a mental illness.) If you watch the debate with him and Kirk Cameron vs the two atheists with Martin Basheer - you can see moments where Kirk Cameron honestly believes what he's saying, but expressions on Ray Comfort's face when he goes stone cold. (con't)
Water4Jeremiah 5 months ago
@Water4Jeremiah (con't) It's as if he completely shuts down his periphery vision and gets completely focused. I say this is insanity because doing things like that to defend a belief in the supernatural, you can't help but lose yourself somewhere along that process. That's why I think somewhere deep inside Ray Comfort is a very, very dark and chaotic individual barely in control of his subconsciousness & mentally ill to the point of him lashing out at people.
Water4Jeremiah 5 months ago

He doesn't want to be thought of as a charlatan.
beezaxe 5 months ago

How is euthanasia wrong? Either a terminally ill patient dies, or dies in agony.
anvita99 5 months ago
For all his talk about his morality being based on absolutes dictated by God, Ray couldn't make a choice when thunderf00t gave him a real moral quandary. This is where morality comes into play - not "is murder wrong?", but having to make a decision which has costs over benefits. If Ray shies away from such a decision, what good is his God's morality?
HBJ
HunchbackJack 5 months ago
Thunderf00t is a liar, thief, and adulterer. But considering how much Ray Comfort has to lie that a god exists, and how much undisclosed amounts of cash he brings in annually based on that lie, then occam's razor would suggest that his sins of adultery would be far worse than anyone can imagine.
Why is it all these street preachers & televangelists always have the same two sins: monetary greed, sexual infidelity, or both? I guess when you don't have any skills, all you can hope for is wealth?
