YOU all who say don like alexia are just jellous a woman like her can sing that good and beautiful! She gives to on my own song the best notes and feeling! Better than anyone!
I would pay for watch her again singing that song!!!!
@jaslonro I'm not jealous, I just wasn't very happy with her performance. How immature to assume such a thing. It's my opinion. Deal with it - I'm entitled to it.
She doesn't fall anywhere near the ranks of Lea Salonga. My two favourite recent Eponines would be Rosalind James and Samantha Barks. I enjoyed both of their live performances and their potrayal of the character.
Where's the emotion? She's more concentrating on just singing it rather than the acting that comes with it and even then she can't seem to stay in tune. She's got to realise that this is musical theatre, not some soul concert.
I saw her live as Eponine in October. I also saw her in Wicked when she was Elphaba. Completely destroyed both roles.
However, the rest of the cast for both shows were fantastic but I found myself not being able to enjoy them as much as I could of.
I cannot believe ANYONE can complain about Frances Ruffelle after listening to this.
Alexia has a lovely voice, she just needs to stay in key and SING THE SONG STRAIGHT THE WAY IT WAS WRITTEN. This goes as a general rule for this new version of Éponine that has taken over the show.
@SydBaker I find it interesting you're really anti her.. I admit I was surprised when she got the role as her style of singing and acting is so not fitted to Les Mis, but when I saw her I was blown away. I loved her performance so much, it was completely original. I'm still not 100% convinced she fits with the style of the show, but that's what makes it even more enjoyable! Recordings never do her justice, so each time I see her I am even more impressed as hearing her live...wow!
I can't understand how everyone here seems to like her. I saw her live in London, last november... in my opinion, she simply sucked. Her acting was totally off and her voice annoying. Even listening to this recording, you can tell she sings off-key a lot. I wonder why they cast her for this role.
Thanks God, Hadley Fraser was amazing as Javert, I didn't waste my money.
I saw Alexia on friday night and she was truly amazing. I am a huge fan of Les Miserables and after the performance Alexia put on on friday I would say the only Eponine to top it was Lea Solonga. On My Own is my favourite song of the musical so I am always unsure about performers changing it but the riff on pretending gave me goosebumps. After hearing her perform this song I can fully appreciate why she was Elphaba and Nala previously, she was a captivating perfomer.
@ForeverWestend It's not really a riff, she just sings a higher note than written, although the -tend- syllable is written higher than the other 2 syllables in the first place.
clearly she has a very, very good voice (Sir Cameron Macintosh is no fool...), but for me she just doesn't come anywhere close to Samantha Barks who has SO much beauty and emotion in her voice, with a depth and quality that's rare.
It's weird because Lexi always had a very witch-like quality to her voice at times and I always thought she put it on for her role as Elphaba, but it's still here. Love Lexi
i heard her in west end and was really let down, she really lacked emotion and had a very 'pop- nasal' tone to her voice. she was out of her depth completely
@Dare2Dream277 before accusing me i'm not saying she cant sing well i was saying les miserables or this operatic style is not something her voice is fitted to !
I was lucky enough to see her tonight and I can honestly say, apart from Alfie Boe, she really truly stole the show. Her voice was rich, powerful and emotional. Just sheer brilliance :')
I find it so hard to believe that someone that talented has had NO training! just goes to prove if you've got the talent you can make it! <3 Alexia Khadime <3
@omglolwhatever She didn't go to any professional theatre school actually. I watched an interview she did and she said she had no training before being a professional actress/singer. She may have had some training afterwards to improve but this is all.
This is amazing.. She had a (lot of) hard acts to follow, but once again she puts her own stamp on an iconic song. Her voice blows me away each time, the control and tone is beautiful.
Seen her twice as eponine and she's awesome great voice!

@jaslonro It is possible to have an opinion without being jealous. Thats a very immature thing to say.

@collectingbees Frances Ruffles had the voice of an 80s pop star and sang that same 'pretending' note higher on occassion.

She's not bad. But, I just can't get over her how nasal sounding her high notes are. :/ Never really been a fan, but... to each their own. :)
