I would see these guys anytime . I wish I was living in Tennessee when they were in their heyday. They would be good at the Blue Plum Festival in Johnson city TN. Plum Up Blue Plum. Get Goose Creek Symphony.
If anyone objects to this song OR to GCS and Charlie Gearhart,,,give them my e mail- segerfanbigtime@yahoo.com and I promise to point them in the right direction about Kentucky bluegrass and good old pickin and grinnin. KEEP up the posting
While the PBS broadcast of the Bluegrass Celebration" at the Ryman Theatre, l thought about this group from the 70's and wondered if they were still around. Nice to see they reunited. Someone way back in the day turned me on to this group. Probably cause l was and am a Gratreful Dead fan ! Country road take me home, thank God l'm a country boy ! Which l am !
Our turntable quit working, couldn't afford a new one. Finally got one that plays vinyl and can record to disc. First thing I wanted to hear was "Welcome to Goose Creek."
Riding in the back of a friend's 61 Fairlane 500 "a little bit high" and singing this at the top of our lungs waiting of course when the 8-track changed tracks. I owned an 8-track, vinyl, recorded it on cassette & now in digital format for my iPod. Tried & true!!!! ;)
Me and my friends used to listen to this song in high school now i am 26yrs old and still love it every time i listen to it its like the first time of hearing it all over again but now that i am getting older i will deffentily pass this down to my kids and grand kids great band great song and great music!!!!
F, the haters!!! Saw these guys back in 1972 at App State. I was in second grade and going to gifted classes there on Saturdays. My friend and I had skipped "Creative Movement" and "Haiku 101" that day and Charlie welcomed us back behind the fence during sound check. Charlie and Pearl both gave me a pick that day and they signed our dorky Gifted and Talented T-Shirts. Eat your hearts out losers... I have Vinyl of Est. 1970, Welcome To Goose Creek, Words of Earnest & Acoustic Goose
years ago somebody sold me their records so they could go out west.when they came back i said they could have all 200 back i just wanted the goose creek albums. live in england now , still love their music.
How did we not all meet ? Same story here, saw them several times at bluegrass concerts in mid atlantic somewhere. I must go find and download this music.
I miss those days of total freedom back in '73 zooming across the country like Neal Cassidy and Goose Creek was right there in the eight track tape machine. Didn't think those days would ever come to an end. I feel sorry for the kids nowadays graduating into a world of lowered expectations and crappy music.
I saw the Goose somewhere down East in North Carolina sometime in 1970. Then, when Charlie and Pearl put the band back together, I would go seen them play around Nashville. Have been up to Goose on the Lake a few times.
Lived in goosecreek as a child...at the foot of the f. Taylor mine in a two story house. My dad worked in the mine..so we lived rent free..the house is now burned down and im 26 yrs old and going too see gcs at prestonsburg ky tonight.
