But I understand i've watched the Japanese with subtitles, this takes some getting used to but when you break it down its really pretty good. Im happy with the english dub, they didn't screw use like they did with the spanish dub.

Yes it is, it's Allison Keith. The voice sounds a tad different for two reasons:

1) Allison knows the character a lot better now and plays her just a tad differently.

2) While the male voice stops changing at around 18, the female voice continues to change throughout its life. So its age.

Having seen this dub, though, I can tell you she's the best actor in it. INCREDIBLE performance...I would argue the best female dub performance I've ever seen.

Well think about it, there's two components to voice acting: the voice and the acting. The acting is the more important and Allison does a FANTASTIC job. Her deliveries always sound so varied yet natural (and it's really hard to sound natural in anime because you're trying to fit the lip movements of animation that has already been done). Again, I think in this movie she gave the best performance from a female dub voice actor that I have EVER seen.

Yeah, Anno is basically using the Rebuild movies to make Evangelion the way he truly envisioned it...but the first couple episodes were pretty much the way he wanted them to be in the first place. So, accordingly, the first movie is not too different from the first few episodes. It sucks that the first movie had to be stuff that we mostly already saw, but...ya know. It's one of those unfortunate necessities--every story has to have a beginning, ya know?
