  • dude thank you. never had the problem before of reasembly but your video had the details i needed

  • 3:33 FUCKIN BUG.

  • thumbs up if you actually have a 1911 a1

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the vid! only one that shows close up on the sear. really helpful

  • Sweet vid man. Disposable heros, killing that "fuckin bug"..while reassembling a work of art. Fuckin aye sir. Well done

  • great vid helped alot

  • Great video, very informational and well explained. The only thing... You should *never* pull the trigger when the hammer is cocked and the slide assembly is not on the frame assembly (@7:01) Of course once probably will not do any damage, but don't make a habit out of it ;)

  • Great easy to follow video. I've got a Taurus 1911 and after following other disassembly videos there were no good ones on reassembly, until yours. Aside from one small piece and the ambidextrous safeties that mine has, your video helped me get everything back together. Awesome vid and thanks for the help!

  • easy way to line up the disconnector and sear is to first put in a empty mag in the frame and that will help hold it in and line it up for you. Good job bro!

  • poor mosquito 555

  • you video is very useful i try it on my norinco 1911A assemble and disassemble and its works tnx

  • I have had 1911s for years and tyhis is by far the easiest to follow and most well done and NEEDED video I have ever come acorss to reassemble the 1911! Thanks a million and I am going to emial this URL to all my 1911 buddies!

  • 1911 is such a pain in the ass to detail strip. Not hating i have a few 1911 my self.

  • There is a much easier way to put the disconnector and sear. Tilt the barrel end down and set the disconnector in place and then set the sear on top of it with a pair of tweezers and then slide in the pin.

  • Very educational. My only concern is you might break the hammer when trying to check if the gun will fire by pulling the trigger without the slide assembly to cushion the impact.

  • good music

  • thanks no i can do it in 5

  • the bug got pwned

  • Great video. Best concise breakdown and reassembly I've seen in a long time. One question you might have advice on: I'm using a Springfield Arms 1911-A1 and love it, however my magazine release sticks no matter what magazine I use. I've got the stock cartridge it came with and a wilson combat cartridge. Both stick. Any suggestion for what parts to polish, oil, deburr, etc to make this stop? The gun was new and never fired before I purchased it and it's had this issue since the first day.

  • Great Job, you rock!

  • Well done on the video - I remember the sear/trigger/grip safety spring being a bitch the first time I screwed with it.

Also, nice choice with DISPOSABLE HEROES - my fave.

  • Excellent excellent excellent tutorial ! People like you make a world of difference for newbs like me. I thank you for your very informative video and a great video at that.

  • thanks for you video, helped me very much installing my new sear spring!

  • fucking bug

  • Watch this video in 1911 mode. It's just like having a real 1911!

  • I hear One by Metallica in the BG :P

  • METALLICA!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wouldn't drop the hammer like that, you're probably ok, but it's not a good idea.

  • thanks for your help! you are the best.

  • Easier way to put in Sear and disconnector back in:

I found it much easier to align just the sear piece, insert the pin a bit to keep it in place but not too much as to allow inserting the disconnector. It's pretty easy to get the disconnector in and aligned straight with the sear stationary.

obviously insert the disconnector and push the pin the rest of the way through.

  • This is a very good video. I mainly thumbs up'd for the "Fucking bug" part but I would have anyway.

Very nice video, 1 thumbs! ;)

  • I have one question,if you know,"What is international price of a simple 1911",i sayed international because i live in Europe, and here can be an other price, and i need to know orientative price.

  • what does the disconnector and sear do? I'm a young gun nut

  • never thought i'd see someone banging on a 1911 with a plastic screwdriver xD this video will be a great help when i buy my concealed carry

  • Good video and well done.

  • 3:34 Bitched that bug

  • I hear metallica in the Background. What song?

  • @popitmonful "Disposable heroes".

  • Thannks bro, helped me out big time. I find whenever I look at something like thing and it looks hard, I'm looking at it wrong.

  • Hey Brent I just bough a Kimber pro Crimson Carry II and this is by far the easiest 1911 video to follow on reassembly!! excellent job. killed that skeeter too! great background music as well! Thank you! TRC

  • am i the only one that thinks its amazing he managed to kill the bug on his first try lmao

  • i really need a gun later -- ' looks so intressting :D

  • Thanks

  • Thx for the video, very helpful :D

  • A trick to installing the sear and disconnector, espescially if dealing with a model 80. Get a Q-tip and cut a piece of the shaft that is the same length as the width of the sear. Assemble the sear, disconnector and in case of the model 80that other thing including its very small spring. Stick the Q-tip shaft through the pivot hole while these components are on the bench. Drop the assemply into the frame and push the Q-tip out with the pin. Even the 80 Series is a piece of cake.

  • Nice video except for one thing: dropping the hammer against the frame is not a good idea. The hammer is not designed to stop the mass of the hammer so close to the pivot. The hammer can snap at the point it contacts the frame!

  • I like the metal in the background.

  • "F**** bug!" Pretty funny dude! Good video. You have obviously master the breakdown and reassembly of the 1911.

  • haha i like how he got the spring from an airsoft gun

  • Bug ownage at 3:35!

  • nice video man

  • I have not torn down my 1911 in years. So tonight I took it apart to adjust my trigger pull weight. I fought for 2 hours and could not get it back together right. Thanks for your excellent video it was a snap. Well done thank you very much!!

  • Love the vids Brent!

  • Raped that bug.

  • This video is great! Very good camera work and very very good, detailed, and EASY explanation!!!

  • wonderful vid,all of them...

  • thank you so much i've watched like 5 other videos and red forums you are the only one who has installed it right! thank you so much!

  • I have a kimber custom II that I went ahead and disassembled and could not get the sear spring and mainspring house correct. Your video helped with that. Thank You.

  • can you legally shoot someone if they make fun of your lisp?

  • Ooh...Ive only done a simple field strip Im not ballsy enough to fully take it apart until I know more about everything and shoot it a bit more. Kudos on this video though.

  • Very thorough. Great job. When I was a kid, I had a Colt MK IV Series 80 .45 (essentially a 1911). I was strapped for cash (to fix my car) and had to sell it. Boy did I regret that. I now have the S&W Sigma 9mm and really enjoy it.

  • very good assembly explain

  • can you ahve this gun in europe with a licence?

  • the ejector is is supposed to be curved inward , if it is i cant get it back in, is there some trick

  • Oh fuck yeah! Disposable heroes in the background!

  • disposible heros

  • whats the purpose of half cock?

  • @1airplane21 It locks the hammer so that it will not react to triger pull regardless of safety. It's lock in a position where it's "outside" of the mechanical function of the gun.

  • metallica

  • A problem 2 ammonition in chamber how to remove ammonition, the slide never to pull because stock now, what will do?

  • lmao "fucking bug!"

  • good video it got me thru the reassembly of my Combat Commander with no trouble

  • I have not read all of the comments. But I own several 1911's and I can not help but call you on dropping the hammer without the slide fully assembled and installed. You can function check before installing the slide. Just keep you thumb on the hammer and let it down gently. You can buy a block that will allow you to drop the hammer without damaging the hammer or frame from Brownell's.

  • Thanks for the video. I am going to tear mine down now.

  • All I've learned from this vid is that once I own a 1911 I really shouldn't take it appart.

  • lol @ 03:30.

    Great video!

  • I just bought a new kimber eclipse and it's my first 1911 gun.I purchased a matte black mainspring housing with mag well and tried to install it but I struggled and eventually almost made me quit for I couldn't put back together again.Your video, Sir is a huge enormous help to me. thank you for posting your posting your educational and helpful video.

  • @narehabako

My pleasure buddy, I remember when I was a kid, hell even now, when I take something apart and learn about it, my friend would always ask "why?". They'd always think that I was crazy taking apart something brand new and figuring out how to work, you guys are the only people who appreciate what I do. Thank you for the kind words!!!!

  • @brentnowell as long as its not on an authistic level its the only right thing to do :D

  • @narehabako GOD!! can you quit using the "S" sound? you sound like Barney Frank. shit its driving me crazy and I cant watch.

  • @pinkmustangs fuck you ass hole

  • BIG HELP DUDE! THANKS

  • I have a Llama, this vid really helps but my trigger is different and the hammer and I think I need to remove the rear sight to get the firing pin out, I couldnt get the main spring retainer on the handle off

  • Oh man i feel for you man, i have a Llama max-1 9mm. I love the feel of the gun but it's been nothing but trouble from day one.

  • I have just one question about the grip safety, do you have to push the grip safety in on an m1911 to fire every round?

  • @Chilote91

Yes you do, but it is not like a magazine release button where you must mentally remember to push it to release the mag. The grip safety is a very light push, so light that just holding the piston in your hand will de-activate it. It's part of the grip and the spring that it rides on is very very light.

  • @Chilote91 also some people still find it annoying and mod out the grip safety which isnt very hard to do :)

  • Is that Disposable Heroes in the background?

  • 3:36 was funny

  • killed that fuckin bug, disposable hero.

  • disposable heroes in the background FUCK YEAHHHH

  • lolz.....fukin bug

  • Fucking bug, take that! Let that be a lesson for the rest-o-ya varmin

  • Great job! I saw my dad do this when I was 14 and couldn't fathom the assembly process...you've made this very straightforward. Again, well done.

  • f* bug / spank it in

    rofl

  • F* bug lol

  • hahaha f***in' bug!

    great job mate

  • Comment removed

  • WACK!! fucken bug haha

  • Nicely done video Brent, I really enjoy the fact that you arn't trying to overpower us all with some dumb ass music score at 90 decibels like so many people do in their vids. Just nice to hear you talk your way through it. Good Job !!

I've had a norinco for many yrs and love it.

  • Great soundtrack in the background. Very helpful video. I feel confident enough to disassemble my 1911 frame now. I feel bad as I've had it for about 8 or 9 years and never took it apart that much. I've taken all the parts out of my slide but never the frame and it's most certainly due.

  • Nice.

    F*cking bug... lol.

  • @DaveStinkt he said that after the "pardon me" part

  • good video, thanks alot!

  • Just got my 1911 cleaned and re-assembled with the help of this video! Thanks! great job. Almost 130,000 views! nice work!

  • Excellent. Thanks for making this video. I had not completely disassembled my Springfield Armory milspec for over a year, and forgot how to take everything off the frame. This video made the whole job a piece of cake. Great video!

  • fukin bug lol

  • Hahaha i hear metallica on the background, cool video dude!

  • I cant thank you enough for this video. Now I have a question for you. What would you rather have a Norinco Commander (108mm) or the Norinco 1911A1 Sport B (127mm)?

  • Your welcome.

I chose the commander cause I like the shorter length, it`s about as short as you can go and still maintain 100% reliability. The ``sport`` model looks nice with it`s lightened hammer etc. But I prefer as close to original designs as possible.

  • Very informative and easy to follow. Great video.

  • u know wats funny he sais pardon me but he cusses also i thnk its funny and also i think someones playin rockband in the backround

  • rockband wasn't even out yet... I didn't know how to mix audio into my video as I had no video editing software so I just turned my stereo up.

  • very nice video! just watching it makes you an instant expert on assembling a 1911. very informative. thanks for sharing.

  • Thx for such a quick response, Brent! I actually didn't take the sear nor trigger out. Only took out what was needed to do a Kimber "spring tune up".

The leaf spring came out along with the mainspring housing, so I'm guessing I'm improperly aligning the sear and trigger leaf springs?

  • Sounds like it. The trigger and sear can stay in, just make sure that the hammer is DOWN, then insert the leaf spring, THEN slide the mainspring housing up aligning the hammer strut with the housing spring, and it should function fine.

Let me know how that goes.

  • Success! Thanks again for a very, very good video!

  • Great video, Brent, but I'm doing something wrong at the spring leaf stage. I cannot get the hammer to half or full cock. Maybe I'm misaligning the leaf spring?

  • The sear for the trigger must go in first, with the hammer down, and then put in the leaf spring and slide in the hammer spring housing.

Sounds like the sear is not engaging the hammer, which means that the sear spring is not in correctly. Once again, put it in after the hammer and sear are installed with the pins, and the hammer down.

  • next step we install the.. fucking bug?

  • fuckin' bug. LOL

    Nice video. 5 Stars.

  • i have a kimber custom carry, and the assembly is very very close, this video made me a wiz when it comes to gun assembly/disassembly. thanks

  • How do you remove that bar from the Hammer? Or does it even come off?

It looks like just a pin to push out, but mine's pretty stiff.

  • Hammer strut is 'stake' in place. Your right it is just a pin holding it but it's been staked on both sides so that it will not slide out. If you plan on getting a new hammer, purchase the pin and strut as well and have them staked by a gunsmith or do it yourself.

  • Ah, ok.

    Thank you very much

  • You're smart.

  • great video Brent - you may want re-make it with some better lighting, that would make it PERFECT...

though i actually felt some PAIN when you dropped the hammer dead on the frame.. that hurts.

  • Users have been making it real painful by constantly reminding me of that. I think every flaw that ever was in this video has been pointed out by my viewers, good to know that there are only a few :D

  • i guess there's people out there ready to bash a good idea because of minor flaws.

Now, your video is helpful. One can pass on about techical flaws - what matters is the 1911, and everything is easily understandable.

  • badass vids dude....awsome

  • Thank you

  • fking bug.. LOL

  • On a personal note, I can't stand mosquitos... I despise them, they ruin everything.

  • These are excellent videos. Good job man!

  • I appreciate that! thank you!

  • Holy crap this video is awesome for the new 1911 guy like me! Thank you for making it. You explained what to do way better than the other video that's out on you tube. I can actually see your parts too!!!!!!!

  • I made it because I couldn't find a decent assembly video on this handgun. I took the time to carefully explain what everyone else on here did not.

  • dude, was that ride the lighting i heard in the background?

  • Awesome.

  • Why do you need a grip safety and a regular safety

  • you don't really need it, but it's what the military demanded of colt at the time

  • So if you forget to turn off the saftey and drop the gun the firing pin wont slip.

  • If the safety is on and the gun drops, the hammer will not fall no matter what. The safety locks the hammer in place. The firing pin is an inertial firing with no firing pin safety (not on this model). With the hammer down and the gun dropped on the hammer, it's possible the gun could go off.

  • @brentnowell..actually it is not possible for the gun to accidently discharge from this possition. the firing pin does not rest against the primer even with the hammer down. momentum is required. theoretically (sp?) you could drop the gun out of an airplane with the hammer down and it wouldnt go off. it is more likely to go off at full cock and lock but it would require enough force to break the sear. i know this is an old comment but just thought i'd share...again

  • @ShadyJDRed

It's debatable, yes the hammer is inertia driven, but there may be enough force to transfer from the shock of the ground, through the hammer and launch the firing pin hard enough to fire off a round. Some say it can't, some say it will, I personally think that if you dropped it hard enough, it will. Would be nice to see some tests on this :D

  • @brentnowell yes it has been debated. i'll admit that it is possible but i've never even heard of it happening. somebody needs to call MythBusters!

  • What happens if you fire it when it's half-cocked? ( sorry if I spelled that wrong xD )

  • Nothing, the hammer is locked at half cocked. The trigger cannot be pulled.

  • Ok but then why did the engineer who created it make it able to be half cocked?

  • The "half-cock" has been around longer than the 1911. It was used on the single action army and other single action variants as a "safety" of sorts. The trigger could not be pulled, and the hammer would not fall in this position.. supposedly :D

It's main purpose in the 1911 is that if you cock the hammer manually and your thumb slips before the sear can be engaged, the hammer will not fall unto the firing pin. If the hammer falls before half cock, there is not enough energy for the pin to strike

  • i didnt know safety vids were also comedy!XD

  • lol fuckin bug. your really smart when it comes to guns, thanks

  • great videos, thanks

  • helped me, thanks!

  • nice! lol my grandpa had to dismantle his side arm sime times too during the war too :P 3:36 "F*in bug" part was funny. they are so inconciderate even to gun owners lol xD @ 4:54 couldent you press it in to place?. other than that, great part one :)

  • hey Brent man thanks for the video. My dads real old colt 45 had become water damaged (rust and mold on the wooden grips). Well my dad is no longer around and your vids on the dissambly and reassembly where spot on with every part even though mine isnt a Norinco and they helped me strip down and clean every part! Thanks again! Great Vid

  • lol with the bug......

  • your video saved my kimber's ass and mine!

  • 3:37

    Fucking bug

    hahahahah

  • Your video saved my ass. While I was putting in a new mainspring housing my leaf spring popped out and I didn't exactly know how to set it back in place. Your video guided me through a proper reassembly and function check and now all is well again with my 1911. Thanks brentnowell.

  • fuckin' bug XD

  • this is not a series 70:) its an original design

  • yes there is a small firing pin lock plunger and spring and the series 80 firing pin has a detent for the plunger to seat into. to remove the firing pin you just have to depress the plunger, pull the ectractor and firing pin. the lock lever is held in using the same sear pin that holds the sear and disconnector in

if you want to give me your email addy & I can scan and send you details from my shop manual.

  • Comment removed

  • just detail stripped my 1991a1 commander and yeah you have to deal with the trigger bar lever and firing pin lock but that was the only significant difference from your strip. AND I DIDNT SHOOT MYSELF !! keep the vids coming Brent!

  • Good to hear! It's nice to know that less that I've only had one viewer so far who's been a complete idiot.

Just curious but there are only two parts that are on an 80's? The trigger bar and the firing pin lock with a spring?

  • brent your vids rock but dont shoot your arm off kid LOL

  • lol :D Yes that goes for you too, if you do shoot your arm off don't accuse me of murder :D

Thank you for the feedback !

  • I got it finally !Series 80s are more of a headache with those dam lock mechanisms. Thanks for the video you made me a pro!!HAHAH!

  • Yea they have a firing pin block system for the trigger. It was supposed to make the 1911 safer to carry cocked and locked, but many agree that it was safe enough without the firing pin block.

  • HAHA! "Fuckin' bug!"

  • 7:20 ah the top :D

  • insert pins left to right

  • Yeah! Kicked that bugs ass! Good tut man!

  • guns and metallica it dont get better than that man great vid.

  • ROFL fucking bug *slam*

  • Haha, you should pack a .410 pistola for flying game.
