  • Black weatherstrip glue will work too, When i replaced my Jeep GC radiator i used it for the some of the weatherstrip. element looks clean for an 03-- looks great

  • thats awesome looks badass

  • you could have just cut the part that was given you truble off and move your plate down some

  • Wow what a pain in the ass just for a grill

  • Awesome

  • Looks kick ass!

  • @IommiFan70 Thanks, I'm fond of it myself.

  • 2003 honda odyssey. 172,000 miles just took it from new york to indiana to florida this summer. orignal transmission and engine. still does a good 94 mph lol. not a drop of oil burned... time for a grille.

  • @StuntDoubleTheatre That's a plan, thanks for the comment.

  • You should order up some new headlight lenses and put some HID bulbs in. That would be a nice touch to compliment your new grill.

  • @justhes I think so too, thanks for the comment.

  • Hey Eric, u should install some fog lights... i think it will look clean!

  • @Slam1218 That would be great, I'll ask the people at CarID if we can do that video.

  • In case anyone's interested those special trim clip pliers are made by KD. Just Google KD push pin pliers.

I had to remove a bunch of them on a 97 Accord today in the fender well to replace a rusted hood latch cable. The screwdriver method is a very tedious process when the trim clips haven't been removed in 14 years and want to stay put :-).

  • @Bushougoma That is true, thanks for the comment.

  • Nice!!

  • Hi Eric,I remember You saying from the shop toolkit video that When you came to the "Hogring" pliers you Install A lot of Seat heaters. So I was Wondering If You could Post a video The next time one comes Into the shop Thanks - Oopsman "forever watching and staying dirty"

  • @oopsman100 Oooh that would be a good video.

  • My family used to road trip the Odyssey all over. Our longest trip circled the outer US and covered 11,000 miles over three weeks. I should get mine a grille too :D

  • @markkjay Wow now THAT is a trip. Thanks for the comment.

  • For the difference click on these two links

    Before 1:11 and After 22:51

  • where are your saftey glasses? lol

  • I have to say thank you to you Eric! CarID is a great site! I've been looking for some parts for my car and only now have found some! Since I'm only 17 My parents bought me my first car. Well technically second. But it's an 04 Hyundai Sonata. Not very sporty but it's got one nice engine!

  • @March94Hare Still a great first car though, good luck with it and thanks for the comment.

  • Use a screw driver and do it right . Align that nose better.

  • Use a screw driver and do it right .

  • @wickedwildboys Noted, thanks for the input.

  • Thats a cool mod! Good work!

  • @ericthecarguy what did u do to make the vehicle not burn any oil...something special???

  • @rayfire50 I changed the oil before I left and stuck pretty much to the speed limit. I was quite surprised to find that I didn't burn any oil on such a long trip.

  • Good Lord, the part where you brought out the razor blade sent shivers down my spine. DONT EVER hold (or push) it like that dude, or push in such a manner... I was 14, was using a blade exactly like that to peel some windshield stickers off, the blade somehow flipped on me, and nearly cut all the way on my thumbs to the bone! Yikes man! In our line of work our hands mean too much to be hurt, especially the handy opposable thumbs. :) - more power to you and the channel! Peace!

  • @droolmonster888

i used to have that knife and i know that the blades pop out sometimes because the load from the front. i got rid of that thing because it was dangerous. i used to cut cardboard and the blade would come out and stick into the cardboard. i have a feeling that eric started regretting doing that job at the point where he had to cut and file stuff down.

  • @droolmonster888 Your warnings are heeded. Thanks for the comment.

  • @EricTheCarGuy, I had discovered something that works even better and for more jobs than a razor blade or utility knife could ever imagine... so handy in fact, it's always within reach... take the thinnest, most flexible 1" or 1.5" putty knife you can find and give it a knife edge on the bench grinder, finish off with sandpaper and a flat surface on the 'blade' and viola, it'll cut all sorts of stuff, I test on paper, plastics, strip wire insulation, even use it on tin cans to open them up.

  • 23:46 lol

  • do a k20 head swap hehe.

  • @sharky322 This is my daily driver, I save that stuff for the 'toys'. Thanks for the comment.

  • I just installed one of these units on the front of my '11 EcoBoost because Ford left a big open hole in front of the intercooler. They are flat bars are tig welded aluminum, and pretty nice looking.

  • @jacebigelow Sweet, send pics or post them to my FB.

  • @EricTheCarGuy Found you on FB, just uploaded the grill pic. Cheers !

  • great job!!! Looks great makes a huge difference. Makes a big attitude change too!!!

  • @2LateIWon It makes it 'mine'. Thanks for the comment.

  • You should have installed fog lights while you were in there.

  • @karkraz Yea, now that I think about it you're right.

  • nicee, I like it!

also this video reminds me of chhonda with more commentary.

  • turbo time

  • i lost some respect for eric today... thats such a gay car

  • @unbracedkevbot Sorry you feel that way. Remember when you point your finger at someone there are 3 more pointing back at you. :)

  • K24 TURBO!

  • TURBO THAT K20!

  • Comment removed

  • @SexyAndlKnowIt too bad its not a k20

  • @iColorado303 yea it was a typo, meant to say k24 which i did right after this comment, couldn't edit this one.

  • @SexyAndlKnowIt Not on my daily driver, but I like the way you think.

  • @killman1971 thanks mate, but I live in the UK so no harbour freight

  • looks good bro

  • cleanest underside I've ever seen

  • @foxdmulder Plenty of rust though unfortunately. Thanks for the comment.

  • U have to run a front lic. plate but you don't actually have to use the plate (since you us an "Eric the Car Guy" plate)?

  • @CHINGORAMA because he doesnt want to show the world his license plate probably

  • @CHINGORAMA I'm guessing he just doesn't want to show his licence plate on YouTube for all to see! He probably just replaced it for the video! :-D That's what most people do!

  • @CHINGORAMA I just used that for the video, it looked much better than my regular plate and I like to promote the show whenever I can with cool stuff that's available at the ETCG store. :)

  • Hey Eric, I have a question that you probably have not ever been asked and its probably a good question. If your vehicle is still under warranty and you are an ASE certified Technician and you want to fix/maintain your vehicle but not take it to a repair shop, could you work on your own car and have it remain under warranty?

  • Hey Eric, at 16:25, what is that can that you bumped for?

  • @13FravelJ Throttle cleaner, it's one of the things I keep on my tool cart along with penetrating oil, silicone spray, and brake cleaner.

  • Nice Erick, now youre gettting into the fun stuff, car personalisation! althought custom fabrication is more of my taste, but really nice video bro, I want to custom make a wide body for my car, but body work on winter is no fun lol so ill have to wait :(

  • @TCreatorO No not fun at all in the winter. I'm not much for body work myself but I do like the occasional 'upgrade'. Thanks for your comment.

  • Love the vids where things don't go exactly as planned. Good narration of your thought process too.

  • @salpta Yea, I don't do it like TV where everything works out, that's just nothing like the 'real world' in my experience. You always run into something. Thanks for the comment.

  • Interesting looking car. I've never seen a Honda Element before.

  • @Bobman84 I've heard that they come from factory with suicide doors on the back, and the interior you can hose it down after getting sand in there from the beach, I think its a cool suv, but ive seen some people paint the bumpers and fenders the same color as the suv it self and it looks pretty damn sweet!

  • @Bobman84 I LOVE my element, it's probably the most useful vehicle I've ever owned.

  • nice, keep up the good work, son

  • Hey you do a really great job on your videos, slightly off base question what kind of mpgs did you get on your road trip

  • @TIGERSHARK3060 About 23mpg

  • great idea with the lic bracket

  • @calmini4x4 It worked pretty good. Thanks for the comment.

  • now you can do a video of how to install a turbo charger :D

  • @Mas7erChief117 yes, yes, good idea

  • @Mas7erChief117 I just need something I can put one of those on first.

  • Are you going to put the badge back on?

  • @Rogers1977

No spot to add the H logo

  • @Rogers1977 I kind of like it clean.

  • What about rims? I bet a nice set of MG Battles or something might have been cool.

  • @Rogers1977 Little bit out of my price range at the moment but I like the way you think.

  • Why the heck would you need to keep the blank license holder?

  • @d46512 In OH you can get a ticket for not running a front plate.

  • Looks good Eric!

  • You need some fog lights for the inserts.

  • @timgowd Yea those holes look dumb now.

  • I'm not sure if it's still going on, but google checkout was giving $10.00 on that website when I bought my Lloyds mats.

  • @paxilill Nice.

  • I like the boobs grill.

  • Awesome looking Element for being 7 years old. Most of em out here in California have that black plastic bottom half severely faded. Also see alot of Chevy Avalanche that have the same problem. Do you know if anyone from T-Rex seen this video yet?

  • @Michiganborn1969 Oops 8 years old... I suck at math sometimes lmao

  • @Michiganborn1969 No I don't but the people at CarID sponsored it, great bunch of people really. BTW the plastic at the bottom was always grey, I haven't seen one in black yet. As always thanks for your comment.

  • @EricTheCarGuy your welcome Eric.

  • Yo if you get a jdm License relocater it would look nice

  • @TaLoCc It would but I'll stick with this one for now. Thanks for the comment.

  • Eric you should get some fog lights and some HID's.

  • @AE86HachiRokuGTS

OEM fog lights or some JDM projectors that can fit.

In order to use HIDs you need:

    auto leveling system

    projector housings

    headlight washers

  • @IIGrayfoxII - I know that, im sure Eric knows that too. I dont like any of the after market headlights and JDM is too much so i did a BMW retrofit on my head lights, it looks better and i still have the OEM head lights. Oh yeah, i did it on myGF's 03 Altima.

  • @AE86HachiRokuGTS Good plan, I'll look into it.

  • ლ(ಠ益ಠლ Y u no use saw for plastic trimming???

  • @sweetlikeADAM No, you don't always need power tools to get things done.

  • @EricTheCarGuy I never said "power saw"...

  • Shame they only have parts for the USDM Civic Si.

My FK2 is not supported much.

  • @IIGrayfoxII That does suck.

  • Eric, you need fog lamps dude

  • the best thing i found for trimming plastic, is a air saw.

  • Please dont call your element a "truck"

  • @TreySpooner Look up the definition of 'truck' it means 'wheeled vehicle that carries stuff', I think my Element falls into that category. It's not a REAL truck but it's a truck all the same.

  • @EricTheCarGuy No disrespect meant. I would call it a SUV. But SUV is harder to work into casual conversation. I think I was just in a "mood" when I posted the comment... :) I love the vids!

  • When messing around with the license plate bracket sometimes you can flip it upside down and/or trim it to work upside. Briansmobile1 did something like this last week on his truck.

  • @killman1971 Not possible on this application the plate bracket has a hook that holds the top on. Thanks for the input.

  • THIS is why i hate working with new cars, all the plastic shit, gotta love new tech

  • @TrollingDr True but when was the last time you had to get out the torch to get a bumper off on a 'plastic' car?

  • @EricTheCarGuy last time i got into an accident and plowed over one, but i would rather need a torch to get off a metal bumper then lose half of the plastic clips that seem to always fall off of these cars, you can resurface a metal bumper but you cant do shit when your plastic bumper gets dull and faded

  • Comment removed

  • what did u do to make "her".. not burn any oil????

  • @rayfire50 Not sure really, I changed it before I left and checked before I left NC and it still had the same amount in it. Sticking close to the speed limits really helps.

  • what mpg do you get on the element?

  • @turbobuick33 20-25 highway.

  • looks sick..great add on

  • Thanks Eric!

  • Next project is fog lights. Do it man

  • @wjpsw That would be great.

  • good video!

  • eric is the element a manual?

  • @KillerZero259 Auto

  • @EricTheCarGuy thats disappointing eric

  • Holy crap!!! Plastic Everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I actually liked the original grill more lmao

  • Looks Great! Stock is for suckers!

  • what a difference wow! nice

  • how many miles do you have on your element?

  • @jango1968 96K

  • I don't know if its worth putting a new grill in if you have to cut OEM pieces. Bad on T-Rex's part to not have a bolt in design.. I see more of that these days.

  • @ItsAlwaysRusty Yea they said in the instructions you could just go over top of the old but I think it looked better taking out the old part. Thanks for the comment.

  • Eric - where can you get a pair of those fastener pliers?

  • @logyscott Blue point

  • I can see doing this if you damaged the grill by hitting something. Isn't it strange that a whole bumper is made of plastic. Having paid for a few of those (my kids, who drive into others' bumpers) I can tell you that they ain't cheap.

  • @spelunkerd Not strange at all, I don't think you'll find too may cars if any that don't have plastic bumpers these days. My kids run into my cars all the time too, it sucks.

  • I don't get it, Eric...you went through all that time, effort and expense to replace cheap plastic with cheap metal :(

  • @happy543210 It made for an interesting video don't forget about that. It IS what I do after all.

  • Quite honestly i think it looked better stock, but whatever floats your boat.

    Good install video.

  • @ihatesigningupforsht Noted, thanks for the comment.

  • Very Classy!

  • I like that removal tool. where can I get one?

  • @hytgggg

That looks like the Harbor Freight version which runs about $10. Remember that HF puts a bunch on things on sale (sometimes half off) and that you can use a 20% coupon from the Sunday paper /back of Popular Mechanics ads.

  • @hytgggg Blue point.

  • Comment removed

  • LMAO at "this might be the part where you wanna poop yourself" Great video!

  • I have that same 2.4L engine in my 93 civic hatchback. :)

  • @munoz4415 Yea the K series shows up in a lot of Honda's these days.

  • I have body panel remover that works great on clips

  • it looks good;) it would look great, if you would also mount the honda logo !:)

  • At 4:21 "Because some of them are longer than others" That's what she said!

  • NICE. Now you can Install FOG lights. Your Grill will look better with it. Video on step by step on Fog lights please. Thumbs up!

  • @xcalix I like where you're going with that, I'll look into it.

  • What brand clip removal tool is that? And where did you buy it at?

  • @turbobuick33 It's a blue point, I got it off of the Snap-on truck.

  • Nice grill!

  • This is where a Dremel tool would come in handy!

  • @ga1999 I feel that would have scratched the surface too much, thanks for the input.

  • Lol, "We should PROBABLY look at those instructions"

  • @MisterMattyMo Not many people do.

  • eric you should put the honda emblem right where the t-rex was

  • @b16jose Yea sort of 'offset'. Interesting idea.

  • Top!

  • damn that nice uppgrade !=)

  • Nice video Eric! the grills totally transform the look!

  • Nice! :) Eric the Car Guy Customs :P

  • cant say i care for the look but great and very thorough video, thanks
