  • This is my favorite movie all categories all times all nations.

I cry hard every time I watch it. Shows that the dispicable sleaze played by Tom Cruise even has a reason for being like he is.

And the completely broken coke snorting woman though. I fell in love with her, even if she's a movie character. And just like the good policeman, I would so want to take care of her, to "save her".

It's so bittersweet, it's so horribly sad and beautiful.

I got a lump in my throat now just thinking about it.

  • I want to be like the nurse guy here.

I want to have that sort of personality (I already do slightly) and I want a profession where I can use it,

I'd listen to the most irrelevant stories... I want to please.

This movie teaches there are two kinds of people, people who just want to take and people who want to give love.

  • This fucking life... oh, it's so fucking hard. So long. Life ain't short, it's long. It's long, goddamn it. Goddamn. What did I do? What did I do? What did I do? What did I do?

  • I think a hats off is deserved for the writers as well as the director and actors.

  • @TomCruiseParamount and who might the writers be?

  • @avidmc1 exactly

  • awsome film. If you are reading this, listen, because you already know what I do. you, are going to die. I'm young and hopefully its a long way off but its inevitable. If your lucky it will be quick, if your not you will get sick, your body will fail you and you will be in physical pain unitill the end. agan, if your lucky you will have people watch you die, if not you will die alone. get busy living people, I know after watching this film that I will fucking tey my most to do just that

  • @MrSweatyPants no i do not know what you do..what is tey my most?and if your pants are sweaty..take them off

  • favorite scene in the movie. so powerful and so true.

  • Dream Theatre brought me here

  • @g2g4m10 The phrase "the goddamn regret" of the song "Honor Thy Father" was always in my head. Then I searched on Google to find out what it was. So I found one of my favorite movies.

  • At 7:20 one of my favourite shots in film history. That and the next shot of John C Reilly with the light. Absolutely stunning in its composition.

  • @haku8645 I like the shot of Reilly with the light a few minutes earlier when he is on the verge of tears and slowly brings the light upward and stares directly into the camera with it.

  • I don't know how many people know this but according to a pretty reliable source this scene very much describes Mr. Robard's real life. Also when he did this movie he was in fact in real life dying.

  • @L8nitedave And also Anderson's own father, the voiceover legend, Ernie Anderson, who also figured into "Sydney" as well.

Until I die, this movie will never, ever leave my mind as one of the greatest.

  • after seeing this scene back in 2000, it made me think that whenever someone says they don't have regrets for how they've lived their lives, they're either lying or have no conscience. This scene was true!

  • 3:33, 6:15 and 6:37 are sampled in the Dream Theater song Honor Thy Father. if you haven't heard it, go buy their Train Of Thought album. you won't regret it.

  • it's not on you tube, you need to watch the movie to know what I am talkin about.

  • yes 24:20 minutes into the movie, right when he gets up of the chair, next to the bed. where the old guy lays down.

  • wheres the rest of the scene ? parts 2 & 3 ???? why didnt you upload all parts if you title something part 1 of 3...post all of them dude, what gives?

  • Parts 1, 2, and 3 tell a story, but if you want to see the movie, go watch the movie.

  • whats the name of the symphony @ 24:20, when he gets up, from the couch???

  • the version you saw, isn't what is posted now. But if you can explain the scene, I can tell you. It's my fav movie, and I know about everything about. Do you mean 24 minutes into the film?

  • @ddirani4575 not sure if you were still wondering, but in case you were, the piece playing when Tom Cruise's character is introduced (around the 24:20 mark in the movie) is Richard Strauss's 'Also Sprach Zarathustra'

  • my all-time favorite film.

  • @jakespick Amen, mine too. Beyond brilliant.
