My daughter is 16 months old, she was born with DS, you are right, DS is a wonder and a blessing not a burden, it is a amazing before I wouldn't even notice people around me with DS, now every time I see someone it fills me with so much joy and love for them, it is amazing, your baby is awesome !
in my opinion (note: just my opinion!), a DS child is a blessing and burden. ok, every child (with the exception of the Menendez bros.) is a blessing to their parents. but a child with DS changes your life and they help one to see things in a new light. on the other hand, being "special needs", they require extra care and some limitations can be stressful. I myself am a burden. as a child I had ADHD. drove my mom nuts. i have bipolar disorder and my "episodes" are indeed a burden to my family.

my little brother has down syndrome and he is 8 i love him so much. he is the sweetest boy ever. He can be aggresive sometimes, but oly if you make him mad. He gets made fun of and i get mad at those people.

Down Syndrome isn't NEGATIVE, but it also isn't POSITIVE. It just IS. It doesn't define who your child will be, but it is going to make things in his/her life far more difficult, and thus, isn't exactly what I would call a "blessing". Your CHILD may be a blessing, but DS isn't.

Some go to college, some take regular classes. There are different levels of down syndrome. in my opinion (note: just my opinion!), a DS child is a blessing and burden. ok, every child (with the exception of the Menendez bros.) is a blessing to their parents. but a child with DS changes your life and they help one to see things in a new light. on the other hand, being "special needs", they require extra care and some limitations can be stressful. I myself am a burden. as a child I had ADHD. drove my mom nuts. i have bipolar disorder and my "episodes" are indeed a burden to my family.

@ChakaGon It is a blessing becouse these little one's and Adults with DS Teach us more then most realize. My brother who has DS has tought me it's the smallest things in life that matter. They are always happy no matter what. Matter of fact I wish I was always that happy.

Ok. I'm not going to speak negatively, here, but Down Syndrome is not a blessing. That's not to say it's something negative, necessarily, but it's certainly not something to HOPE for.

Down Syndrome isn't NEGATIVE, but it also isn't POSITIVE. It just IS. It doesn't define who your child will be, but it is going to make things in his/her life far more difficult, and thus, isn't exactly what I would call a "blessing". Your CHILD may be a blessing, but DS isn't.

Buddy listen, I really wish I could say yes but I don't feel comfortable adding a person who thinks that all a downs kid can amount to is a bag boy or girl. Some go to college, some take regular classes. There are different levels of down syndrome. I just want you to understand that just because some people aren't as quick witted or as high functioning as others doesn't mean that a bag boy or girl is all they can become. Maybe in the future we can become buddies :)
