I agree. I'm a 10 year band student. I play flute and being drilled for the better part of 7 years in middle and high school about good flute posture and making it look 'good' on the marching field. Playing on the shoulder like that is just a turn off for me. But he does play wonderfully either way so I guess in this case it doesn't matter too much.
@lightuplightup I mean it would sound good if they did an irish marching show? but then the instrument would get ruined when itss a rainy or cold day(?)
as a classical flutist trained in the same good posture, id like to say i love the way it looks wen he playes, its different music, different flute, so a differeent posture fits right in, this is trad Irish music, not bach
you should se the guy that playes lefty, with his right thumb straight out to the side, almost at the neck of the flute, looks so different, and still so great, cause its different music, different culture. Individuality is a good trait to have in trad music, not conformity.

Incredible playing and no doubt this boy will go very far, but it does make me cringe to see people playing into their shoulder like that

why would he want to "look good on the marching field" ???? This is traditional Irish music, nothing to do with American high school bands.

Great tone and crisp ornaments. Would like to hear longer phrases but you did a fine job nonetheless.
