  • lol are you playing led zeppelin?

  • To all people asking "how do i make this?!" its uhhh... Pretty self explanitory..

  • i think i heard a lil bit of led zeppelin's "In My time Of Dying"

  • awsum!!

  • 3 people bought new guitars.

  • wats the bottle do

  • Go to Stewart McDonald, STEWMACdotcom, and you can even build your own pickup. I like them wound like an old Telecaster pickup...not too hot. Or put two on it. One twang and one hot. You can wire them to run one or the other or both.

  • build one to, and it works perfect

  • see seasick steve for how awesome this sound can get

  • how original...

  • I love how people are calling this a "Jack White Guitar"! Go ahead on Jack, for getting a new batch of people excited by these! The guitar is called a Diddly Bow, and people of been making them since at least the Great Depression (1920's) when traveling bluesmen didn't have enough money to buy a guitarr and discovered they didn't have to to make music. Lots more on stuff like this--including instructions--at websites like Cigar Box Nation.

  • where do i put ripped offed ears?

  • Man, what do I need exactly to make this? *-*

  • That's fukkin' amazing. <:-D

  • oh man this is impressive! way to go!!!!

  • PLEASE make a tutorial on how to make this!

  • @drummermahn 1 2x4 or a piece of wood similiar to size. 1 small flat piece of wood, 2 regular size nails to hold each end of the string. 2 smaller nails to attached the small flat piece of wood to the 2x4 and 1 nails to attached the guitar pick up to the small flat piece of wood.

the hardest part to making this guitar would be grounding the wires and thats not even that hard. If you don't know whty ou are doing there, ask you dad or uncle or a neigbore.

  • @DrZaious oh and a bottle. sorry. lol.

  • Sydetrakd, I'm trying to make this guitar. The only thing that I am stuck on is how to attach the pickup to the pickup output... Do you duct tape them together or do you soder them together... Need a little help, thanks!

  • OH MY JESUS OH MY JESUS

  • what was the song in the begining of the vid

  • @MarioThePizzaGuy Hello Operator by The White Stripes

  • u can skip the output jack u just need to solder the single coil wires to a guitar cable, one to the main part (long bottom bit) and one around he ring just before the point.

just mess around and ull figure it out

  • dude that is f ing sweet

  • I got everything, a Tele neck, coke, shiton of nails, slide and string but my only problem is wiring wise, what did you do/use?

  • @joeypaint

I just made one out of a clip on pickup for an acoustic guitar, u can get one for like 5 bucks on ebay.....just a suggestion.....

  • who sais you need a guitar?

  • nice harmonics dude :D do you reckon volume and tone are worthwhile or not?

  • ur playing "in my time of dying" with LZ :D

  • Failed attempt at "The Rover" by Led Zeppelin.

  • Driftinboyy... Get a new pickup, need 2 wires

  • you could mark it for fret type deals

  • what do i have to do if my pickup has only 1 wire?

  • very good job on the Diddly Bow... you should lower the string action closer to the pickup.

  • Check out mine!

  • It's a diddly bow, but well done, its awesome that you took the time to do it :)

  • Check out mine and comment! Its not amazing but it works through my Orange ok.

  • danzig - twist of cane??

  • awsome! in my time of dying!xD and the wammy bar works to!

  • You're asking for tabs?

You think Jack asked for tabs?

  • i made one too. pretty cool. not wicked useful, but still a neat little thing

  • that what i call crazzy man.

  • it sounds like "In my time of dying" by Led Zeppelin

  • which string did you use?

  • thats really cool i want to make one its just you basically have to judge where the frets are

  • I wanted to do such a guitar long time ago. I also have Volumes and Tones, but I think not to use them, but I don't actually know what to do with the pick up. Do I just need to attach it to the jack output?

  • Yupp. Groud to ground and hot to hot. Thats it.

  • twist of cain by danzing??

  • I think I heared "in my time of dying" Nice job

  • @cadarado425 You did indeed.

  • can you make a tutorial?

  • what string did u use? how much did the pickup cost? im gonna be building one of these soon...so yea...btw...how much for the input jack

  • @RenegadePoliceForce The string was the low E, .48 I think.

The pickup i got off my first shitty squire when i EVH'd it. The bottle is a Mike's Hard Lemonade. The wood i just found in my garage. Hope that helps.

  • thx buddy

  • @RenegadePoliceForce

the string size isnt to big a deal, depends on what range u want to play in

i just ordered a cheap pickup off ebay for under $2. if u build the device but have no pickup, a microphone will work, i am using both to create a bit of a dual pickup type sound. i have a small cellphone mic that i put right inside the bottle, and have it spliced into the pickup wire, which is spliced into a 1/4" headphone plug which goes into my computer, and then i use vst's as effects plugs.

  • @nixonsmokesweed

Wow, just wow. Talk about running with it.

  • awesome dude

  • just made one! so easy! and i just pissed off my whole neighborhood!

  • i loved the octaves and whammy in prov.! bravo!

  • which string did you use for this? G?

  • That's what you call BADASS.

  • @Moviesan69 Thanks!!!

  • Is that 'In My Time of Dying' by Led Zeppelin?

  • yea it is

  • What if i don't put the pick up? it will sound anyway?

  • yea it wiII

i made one just a coupIe days ago and aII i need is a pickup but it sounds more Iike a sitar kind of thing without the pickup

  • Awesome :D!

  • just bought this dvd...

  • HOw do you tune it? I have one also

  • just the way your holdong the slide makes you look like an idiot

  • you're the man! :D

  • in my time of dying, hell yes.

  • hey what string is that? and what distortian is that?

  • @fretchman The low E is think. E or A.

Just some line 6 "Insane" distortion.

  • @darbtheduck there's basically a ground wire and a hot wire. The ground connects to the ground on the Jack and the hot output goes to the hot on the Jack. Basically you just quickly solder them together.

  • is there a video showing you how to do this? because I'm not too comfortable with randomly messing with any pickups i own.

  • That is the coolest freaking thing ive ever seen! I seen him do it in the video and I wanna try it, but Im lazy

  • snapple tea bottle?

  • @smithers262 Mike's Hard Lemonade

  • i see the bottom looked like it tho

  • YEs sounds like a sh@#$y version of in my time of dying haha awesome though

  • Really nice, but the documentary sucks for people who have been making these things for years. Seasick Steve has used one he made since the 1960's.

But, then again, I'm sure he influenced Jack White.

  • Best .Documentary. Ever!

  • i have to make this myself

  • hey man can you tell me which string you putted on ?

  • awesome!

  • LED ZEPPELIN!!!! good choice.

  • in my time of dying ;) very good choice

  • Excellent, dude!

  • CAN YOU SEND THE TABS?

  • @josh1111111111111100

    lol what tabs?

  • was cord did u use?

  • really cool man! i ve made the same thing, but it sounds like shit!)

  • i must say that is cool as! and it has an amazing sound to it.

  • Cool!! sounds a bit like "In my time of dying" from Zeppelin

  • Thats what I was going for!

  • That's what Jack said in the movie. Cool - I can see my son trying to do this soon.

  • that was pretty cool :)

  • and who says you need to buy a guitar!
