@popsicklevideo Thanks! A friend let me use his Yamaha electric piano, a Clavinova if I remember correctly, on which you can record two tracks. So I played the piano part first then added strings and choir. It was then transfered through a MIDI connection.

this might explain why this melody was for so long almost forgotten. Myself I knew the movie... but before the web and YouTube evolved enough to cover these vast collections of millions of users, it was impossible to locate this melody. For me this one is right after the Love Story, in fact both of them are love stories... and of this movie I remembered lyrics for so many years... just by hearing it once in the theater with my first girlfriend... thanks for bringing it back to all of us.

I've read somewhere that the composer, Lee Holdrige" said that the sheet music had never been published. He said something like: "Figrure it out"! That's what I more or less did! :)
