Back in the day you could wear a "friendship Ring" from a boy, and sex had nothing to do with it. It just mean that you were "Boyfriend & Girlfriend" and shared a few kisses, went to the moves or "socials" together. Those were much more innocent days for most young tweens and young teens. Now with TV and parents pushing babies into looking like tramps, no wonder the comments are what they are.
@mnbuio if you're so opposed to the sexualisation of young children in music I take it that you've thrown away any records by the Osmonds or the Jackson 5?
Cool, cool, cool! I know they made 78's into the late fifties, but didn't know that P&P released any on that format. Is this 78 vinyl or the old shellac? It has hardly any surface noise, really clean. Thanks for posting.
@wolfmantip & jdsol1938: yeah, nothing better than hearing a 12 year old girl chirp out "you even asked me to wear your ring," "you ran around with every girl in town,"so long my honey," etc. etc. Sexualizing 12 year olds might have been in vogue in the 50s, but it's stomach churning today. Particularly when she and her sister weren't very good singers to begin with.
hello there my mom use to sing with lesley gore when she was very young and she mensioned that these two were a great pair and very talented and should have gone further but they were held back due to there father and his controling ways . when i was at the age of 5 i met them and wow they were fun and so nice and i wish that if they were around and still performing to say happy new year and thank you for bringing such great times and memories back
Not good. The fact that it was sung by little girls, is enough to make one gag. Close to classic song that is pushed to silliness by chipmunk voices without Alvin's character.
I AGREE WITH JENZEPPELIN, IT'S SAD THAT THEIR DAD LIMITED THEIR STATURE IN MUSIC HISTORY.....SHOULD OF LET DAVE SEVILLE TAKE CARE OF EVERY THING....IF ANY ONE HAS ANY UPDATED INFO ON PATIENCE AND PRUDENCE PLEASE POST IT, I HEAR LITTLE MORE IS KNOWN ABOUT THESE TWO LADY'S MAYBE WE CAN TELL THEM PERSONALLY HOW MUCH WE STILL ENJOY THEIR SONGS...THANKS
I've always loved this song. What adorable voices these sisters had...and what wonderful harmony. Love the exquisite use of strings in the number. THANK YOU for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" for us to enjoy! You've MADE my day & my week! :)
I cant believe it. THERE THEY ARE ! I've looked for the music these two sisters made, forever and not found it. (Father, did his best to eliminate celebrity from his family after stardom threatened it) Everything they recorded went right to the top of the charts.
Don't you mean "Here They Are?" How can you have looked for something "Forever" and yet still found it?: Another thing, how could everything that they recorded "pass you by?" Also, what happened to celebrity when stardom deigned to "have a go?"
Please do send me more information regarding this matter.
Yes I get upset when I think about how their father's direction limited their growth. They were very talented girls with lovely voices, I wish they had released more music than the little bit we have.
Hello, From your post it appears you had some inside knowledge? Mark was a fellow musician and pal of my dads so I knew the girls as kids. Also knew about Marks alcoholism and his death. Any idea where the girls are now?
do any of you in you tube land know any about these girls after 1964 PLEASE THANKX

@mnbuio Yes, sexualising twelve year olds is definitely not in vogue now, that's why department stores have padded bras for eight year olds.

If someone (anyone) would get impatient with something, I'd always say "Patience, Prudence" If wonder if I subcosciously got this from these girls?

Taking P &P as the original model, The Caravelles did a nice 'maturer' version in 60s.
Don't know that subsequent restylings have added much - the late Viola Wills,
