And since I think we need more good female "screamers" i'll try to help you. first thing you have to learn how to "scream" by yourself, meaning, practice, practice, experiment, dont be afraid of sounding like an asshole at first, we all go though that phase.

second, you dont want to actually scream, the idea is to DISTORT the sound of your voice. you can do that many ways, and 99% of them are gonna sound weak

@xletsplaydead (PART2) to make it sound louser, you have to do the same thing that every profesional vocalist do to add fullness, sustain, volume and tone to their voice. You have to learn to control your diaphragm.

to get you started off, just try to make a distorted sound with your voice, DONT TIGHTEN YOUR TROATH LIKE CRAZY!!!, just play around with your throat muscles and make sounds. when you find something interesting, try to remember how your muscles feel.

@xletsplaydead (PART3) now make the same sound but push with your diaprhamg, the easiest way to explain it is push like you have to poop really hard, then with those same muscles push gentle, medium and hard and hear how the sound changes tone and volume.

practice and you'll learn to localize the exact muscles you need to "scream" like you're Angela Gossow.

@UnobviouzZ i can hear some "power metal screams" there, you have an amazing vocal range, but you need to control your notes better, you tend to oscillate between notes. practice holding and reaching notes with a piano =).

to distort your voice you have to make unusual stuff with your throat, the easiest stuff to learn is the grunt, just try to bark like a dog (woof woof), then apply diaphragm pressure for volume and fullness. then just change woof for words. Practice practice practice!

@UnobviouzZ yeah, thats distortion, but it seems to me that you tighetened your troat too much, if it hurts, you´re tighening too much so just relax a bit more, the idea is to make your vocal cords relaxed so they vibrate a lot (lots of harmonics / distortion) but make the air passage small enough so you actually get coherent sounds out. kinda complicated to explain via text, but play around and you´ll get it.

maybe i´ll make a video some day if enough people request it.

@UnobviouzZ that kind of screams are like that, they get so distorted that it´s difficult to tell what the base pitch is. basically what happens is that the harmonics of the vocal chords (sometimes) overpower and mask the base tone, so it sounds more like pink/white/brown noise.

to get a more controled and clear tone, you have to learn to blend the noise and the sung note. listen to Anthony, the singer of circa survive he's a master of that watch?v=cvAQEx_Itfw  ALSO ETID watch?v=IewQXMJQjvA

@UnobviouzZ that sound is easy to do, it's actually more of a scream that a pure distortion. to do it pull your larynx down (Adams apple) and tighten your throat a little, then try to scream, like the kind of scream one do when one is calling someone out, like "HEY!!". it's not about being completely loud, the idea its to get the rawness and power of that tone.

Remember to keep your tongue low on the back, you want to get the sound out of your mouth not out of your nose (common mistake)
