"Oppa" literally means older brother, I believe. But its used a lot to simply refer to a guy who's older than a woman when they have a close relationship, I mean. In the reverse situation, an older woman would be called "noona".

Where I live, the majority of Asian people tend to group together, specifically because of all the Chinese or Korean clubs on campus, and I find that it's really exclusive. I get intimidated at the thought of approaching a cute Korean guy (for example) because of that reason, which is sad because I would really like to.
