Go with what YOU feel will get the job done. Me personally, I moved from FL Studio to the MPC. I own a 2000xl and a 4000. The 2000 is a classic. Search for one.

Pro tools 7.1 and Cool Edit. I sequence with the mpc mostly. I used to sequence with Digital Performer though. What are you using?
