that was cool that old LR fire truck has the old jumper seat speaking of an old fire truck springfield mo station has an old fire truck with a jumper seat
My dept does 4000+ runs per year. That being said, we replace our apparatus every 10yrs. It's not a waste of money if you get alot of work out of them in the 10yrs that they are in service. Also we don't get rid of the apparatus unless they are really beaten up. Normally there taken out of service and used as spares. I would agree that if your dept goes on less then 3000 runs per year theres no reason to have to replace and apparatus every 10yrs. All depends on usage per apparatus.
looks like a telesquirt to me. Is this a underfunded dept? Cause no offense that thing is a piece of junk. JMO. KCK really nevers lets our trucks get older than 10 yrs old.
It is a telesqurt. I spent the first 7 years of my fire service with this department. It was stationed at a station staffed with volunteers. Was there to meet ISO and was used mostly on fires if someone could bring it. Wasn't a piece of junk, fairly well kept and maintained just didn't run a whole heck of a lot. Not really an underfunded department either, has a pretty decent tax base and is combination department with 7 guys per shift out of two stations.
Getting rid of a truck older than 10 years is a waste of money. The department I come from is 99% volunteer (one paid guy per shift) and with exception of out two mainline Kenworth's, the other ten are all pre-1994 trucks. So long as you take care of the trucks and don't abuse them, they will run forever. We've got four 1983 Ford's with 210hp Cat 3208's and they run flawlessly. There's no reason throw them away.
Impressive time from arrival to flowing water. Only thing I see, you didn't chock the front tires. Not doing that is a big no no where I work. Im a E/O on a 95 foot mid-mount aerial.
I work B shift at my dept too! You know why they created an A and C shift?
Because we cant work EVERY day!
Haha that's our shift motto.
Tell that to C shift when they come in to relieve you next time!

GREAT VIDEO mate... Is there only 3x crew on this 55ft ladder truck.?
Do you guys ever had "Live Fire Drills"
Here in South Africa (Johannesburg) they want to stop the Life Fire Drills at the Stations due to air pollution. But boy oh boy do I miss them.

It's not technically a quint but it does have a rated pump on it and can function as an engine if needed.
