@bomenjan it did go through, didn't you see it blow the guys arm of and burn his hair? That's how an RPG works...make a small hole and blast scorching gases into the area behind the obstruction
The actual explosion happens at 1:55, as you can see the smoke and rocket parts flying everywhere. The fireball is leftover rocket fuel, which worked like a fuel air explosive.
@TacticalSuperRebel the 6.8 does better than the 5.56, the 6.8 hits its target harder than the 5.56 and can hit without loosing much on accuracy. I would pick the 6.8 over the 7.62 and the 5.56 because of its Range if needed. and the firepower it brings. But if you could some how increase barrel length on the ak without making it cumbersome, like how the aug is made, the ak would be more accurate.
@Nijuka87 But there are only prototype weapons in development for use of the 6.8mm SPC round. Waste of time, money and resources.
I'd go ahead and use a 5.56 any day because if you use Green tipped NATO SS109's, you can have the same effect, range, FT.-LBS and devastation power that you'd have in a 6.8.
Also, the AK seriously fucks. Go with an older M733 Colt Commando M4 and you have a great compact fully automatic assault rifle. Beautiful too.
@Nijuka87 I don't know about any 'M-468', but the Knight's Armament RDW I know is a prototype still...
The Military ain't gonna just switch over that easily to a 6.8mm SPC Cartridge.
The 5.56 has been in 50+ years and the MP-5 will stay as a helicopter pilots (Not to mention the MP-7A1 and Beretta 92/96 or some random Scar-L's) backups and tank drivers weapons.
Just money and politics. Plus, refitting and reOUTfitting M-4A1 and Colt/Armalite M-4/M-16A2/A3/A4 carbines and troops will be a pain.
What are they celebrating? RPG round obviously penetrated the glass. This is HEAT round, you can't expect huge explosion, its supposed to penetrate armour.
RPG7 can no way penetrate front armour of a modern tanks. One RPG is not supposed to "destroy" a tank in one shot. Good example is Israeli merkava tank immobilised by 5 RPG rounds fire about 5 years ago. It wasnt destroyed by huge blast like in movie, but a tank wheel were damaged and the crew had to leave a vehicle.
Zomb, I dont say otherwise. HEAT rounds create superplastic (not plasma) beam penetrating the armor. You misunderstood that RPG7 is too weak to penetrate front armor (composite of ceramics, metals or uranium) of modern tanks.
The time when RPG-7 were created it were usual that then-modern tank had about 500mm RHA equivalent, therefor RPG7 were used as anti-tank weapon. Though decades passed and TODAY tanks reach 1000-1500 RHA equivalent against HEAT warheads (front).
@jaja1818 yeah but u know a m1a2 has armor equal 1500mm of steel. and some of the best anti tank rpg's can go true the front armor of a m1a2(1500mm) so way cant a old rpg-7 go true (200)mm?? :P

Actually this test show the perfect work of the RPG 7. As you could see on 1:38, the jet stream from the RPG goes through the glass, and separates the left hand off. The purpose of the RPG is to penetrate through the armor. It makes only small hole, but kills everything inside the object by increasing pressure. So if the test object would be the hermetic (i mean 4 walls and roof) it will better show the power of the RPG 7.
@fujimatosa Are you blind? The entire rocket shattered against the glass before the "explosion" even started. All you saw was burning propellant splashing around, and a 6-pound hollow object hitting glass at half the speed of a pistol bullet. And it STILL put a hole in the glass. But there was no explosive anywhere.
Oh! I knew that you expected to see a huge explosion like in any Hollywood movies.
But the reality is not so exciting. The explosion wouldn't start before the grenade hits the target, simply because the sensor of the grenade a situated on the tip of it. At the time of the hit, sensor activate TNT that is located in the rear part of the grenade. Then jet stream makes a hole in the target.
@fujimatosa Trust me, buddy, I know what I'm talking about. And in case you don't, you can go look at the dozens of youtube videos that show RPG explosions. You don't seem to comprehend the irrefutable fact that the part of the rocket THAT CONTAINS THE EXPLOSIVE AND SHAPED CHARGE LINER SHATTERS before there was any ignition. You obviously know absolutely nothing about the components of the rocket or laid out, or the basic theory behind a shaped charge. Don't mention Hollywood with me
Sorry but I don't want to spend my valuable time to prove you something.
You could go to the Army as I did, in order to knew something about components of the grenade. At least they will teach you how to distinguish rockets from the grenade.
@fujimatosa Rocket, rocket-assisted projectile, whatever the fuck. The PG-7V is no more a grenade than my balls are grenades. The term is inaccurate and irrelevant because it comes from a transliteration of the Russian. Listen to me very carefully. You can see with your own fantastically-experienced eyes that the part of the grenade that houses the explosive material shatters into hundreds of pieces before any combustion occurs. If a shaped charge liner cone is deformed, it wont work
@The30calboy ahahah. its like this. when a rpg hits somthing its sends a molten coppar jet true its target and its that, that do all the damegde. and as u can see here that jet goes true, (that small whole" ;D") so that glass dident do a shit do stop the rpg. so this test was a fail bc if that was the glass of a humvee the people would still get hurt. but heyy a old rpg can go true 20cm of steel u thugth that u can make glass with the same "stopping power" as 20cm steel :D
If I bet with my Russian friend that a kick-ass Russian thing won't beat a kick-ass Japanese thing, I would've won because I once told him about Japanese shatterproof glass and he told me about the RPG-7 and I just watched this video.
@HelluvaBadShot They're not allowed to have an "offensive military". However, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces are insanely well armed... they could take most small nations in all-out war, and some of their ships could kick their American counterparts' asses.
@HelluvaBadShot Derp, the JGDSF do not even issue RPGs, so your comment is invalid. Even if it was, the JSDF isn't allowed to deploy abroad except for peace keeping, but they will "offend" you if you cross their line.
@HelluvaBadShot Invalid comment is invalid. The BF is something personal, nothing to do with battlefield, the 2 was because the name was taken. And eventually ditched the rest and just added lover42.
Even if I did play BF2, that would not make my knowledge about Japan decrease. Don't you fuck with them or else the US allows them to deploy abroad and they have a very powerful Navy.
@bf2lover42 wait, don't fuck w/ them? don't fuck w/ Japan? i seem to remember they fucked with us and it turned out badly for them. @HelluvaBadShot Ahah, arrogant as usual. Don't forget the US has been feeding them the money and tech since the end of the war, you try any shit with them, and the US, South Korea and the Japanese will be all over you.
@HelluvaBadShot How funny, bashing on Wikipedia is bashing on the references. Take some time to read the documents released by the Navy that corroborate the story.
You bash on wikipedia, you are calling the Navy a bunch of liars.
@bf2lover42 that's quite the jump, so if i bash wikipedia, an open-source forum that anyone may edit...i'm a navy basher?? wtf man chillax bro, if you scroll a bit farther down on you're beloved wikipedia page, Towards the bottom you'll see..."Responsibility for the attack" try reading that. Remember this was only 4 years prior to pearl, and iirc they gave us friendship medals right before stabbing us in the back..
@HelluvaBadShot Anyone could have edited that. Also, in the same paragraph they said there were rouge groups that could have tried to cause a war, but liek you said, anyone can edit. Still, most of the info about the aftermath WAS supplied by the navy.
@HelluvaBadShot 1st America froze Japanese assets in US soil.
2nd Contrary to their policy of non-intervention, the US supplied the Chinese, the Soviets and the British, enemies of Japan, with military aid and loans.
3rd America cut their oil trade with Japan, forcing them to invade more territory or they would have to withdraw from their territory.
Also, the aircraft carriers and fuel tankers were out in the sea. US totally provoked the attack but tried not to lose their important ships.
@bf2lover42 yeah, we cut trade with them for invading china and sinking the USS Panay didn't help. We cut ties with them AFTER that. They were the Empire of Japan, they controlled the a vast expanse prior to the war. It was dumb luck that we didnt lose our Carriers at pearl, if we had known they were going to attack on the 7th we'd have had our whole fleet at sea. Instead most everyone was asleep.
@HelluvaBadShot Derp, if they were at sea there was no way the american people would have wanted war with the Japanese. Nearly 800,000 men volunteered (wikipedia number) because of the attack. Then The Germans declared war on the US.
But to fight with so many opponents, the Luftwaffe did not have enough fuel for the planes. They had to import a fuel additive that was sold... by US oil companies! Americans wanted war fro profit. They fucked with the Japanese first.
@HelluvaBadShot Your comment was textbook "douche" in my standards, the fact that the TV show arranged to get the JGSDF to shoot a RPG7 doesn't mean they issue 50 year old Soviet weaponry.
@HelluvaBadShot I'm actually pretty sure that the ban expired in 2005 (60 years after VJ-day), but in any case, if a tank lands on your shores, you have to have SOMETHING to take it out.
too bad the rpg 7 is a shaped charge and is designed to punch small deep holes just like it did. thats why it can penetrate so much tank armor. this is misrepresenting the weapon.
@miggyg24 exactly, it's not meant to bring down a whole fucking building. It's designed to burn straight through inches of armor and burn/ignite whatever is on the inside
That's because your everyday terrorist does not have proper ordinance :) The normal 85mm heat rocket of the rpg can't do much to modern reactive armor. Hope that they won't fire a rpg with a tandem warhead at your tank, 'cause that's when u die D: And if it was up to shots u would need, you would only need two 85mm rockets on the same spot ;) The first one to get rid of the reactive and the second one to blow up the tank. Sorry for the wall of letters :D My writing got out of hands.
@anonimystro12345 New RPGs shoot a decoy rocket and after miliseconds the main munition is fired so automatically the protections systems are useless just in one night.Btw if a terrorist shot you from 50m meters I don't think that the protection system will manage to intercept the PG-7 unguided rocket.
@Stratigoz Only the RPG-30 is able to do that currently, and it is kind of expensive comapred to an RPG-7.
And, believe it or not, modern Active Protection systems such as Trophy and especially Iron Curtain can intercept RPG's from distances as short as 15 meters.
Screw it, what an effing hoax. A shaped charge detonates in the very moment its tip touches the target. This grenade fully disintegrates before the charge kinda catches fire. That's not how it works at all. Looks like they disabled the fuse to make the glass look impenetrable.
The guy behind the window would still be dead since flame (whatever you call it) still went through the glass. That's how I see it... please do correct (not ridicule me) if I'm wrong. I won't believe you if you're just a kid happening to play COD.
real RPGs don't blow up half a continent like we see in Hollywood movies. This RPG worked the way it was intended to work, namely deliver a small focused jet of molten copper and super hot gas that would slice through glass and metal and kill everyone inside.
@SAMER63 Well it depends on which shells you're using. The ones they show on Hollywood movies are more like anti-infatry shells they explode producing huge explotion and spraying little metal fragments all over the place. The anti-tank shells are they ones you have described above. There's also many more types of shells for any kind of mission
@KGSultan True I am aware of the different warheads, but seems the hollywood ones pack 5000 tonnes of TNT haha even the ones that target tanks, and that's why some of the people here think the warhead in the clip "failed". The same with hand grenades. Real hand grenades make a small thud, while hollywood ones blow up entire bases and buildings in a huge apocalyptic fire ball.
@AKAtheA nope look at 1.38 and 1.55 for the explosion. The reason why you see it the way you do is because it is filmed with high speed camera, and hence it looks like it took forever before the explosion happened, while in reality it's in the milliseconds.
@SAMER63 I know the explosion is there, it's just that shaped charges like these need a significant offstand distance, in the vid, it looks like the entire warhead was squashed, efectively transforming it into a HESH instead of HEAT :D
that rocket was "made in china" xD

Remember this was only 4 years prior to pearl, and iirc they gave us friendship medals right before stabbing us in the back..
HelluvaBadShot 7 months ago
@HelluvaBadShot Anyone could have edited that. Also, in the same paragraph they said there were rouge groups that could have tried to cause a war, but liek you said, anyone can edit. Still, most of the info about the aftermath WAS supplied by the navy.
bf2lover42 7 months ago
@HelluvaBadShot 1st America froze Japanese assets in US soil.
2nd Contrary to their policy of non-intervention, the US supplied the Chinese, the Soviets and the British, enemies of Japan, with military aid and loans.
3rd America cut their oil trade with Japan, forcing them to invade more territory or they would have to withdraw from their territory.
Also, the aircraft carriers and fuel tankers were out in the sea. US totally provoked the attack but tried not to lose their important ships.
bf2lover42 7 months ago
@bf2lover42 yeah, we cut trade with them for invading china and sinking the USS Panay didn't help. We cut ties with them AFTER that. They were the Empire of Japan, they controlled the a vast expanse prior to the war. It was dumb luck that we didnt lose our Carriers at pearl, if we had known they were going to attack on the 7th we'd have had our whole fleet at sea. Instead most everyone was asleep.
HelluvaBadShot 7 months ago
@HelluvaBadShot Derp, if they were at sea there was no way the american people would have wanted war with the Japanese. Nearly 800,000 men volunteered (wikipedia number) because of the attack. Then The Germans declared war on the US.
But to fight with so many opponents, the Luftwaffe did not have enough fuel for the planes. They had to import a fuel additive that was sold... by US oil companies! Americans wanted war fro profit. They fucked with the Japanese first.
bf2lover42 7 months ago
@HelluvaBadShot Your comment was textbook "douche" in my standards, the fact that the TV show arranged to get the JGSDF to shoot a RPG7 doesn't mean they issue 50 year old Soviet weaponry.
bf2lover42 7 months ago
@bf2lover42 why get them a 50 y/o soviet weapon if they're allowed to be insanely well armed?
HelluvaBadShot 7 months ago
@HelluvaBadShot I'm actually pretty sure that the ban expired in 2005 (60 years after VJ-day), but in any case, if a tank lands on your shores, you have to have SOMETHING to take it out.

The RPG-7 is going to destroy pretty much anything that is not a tank unless you put reactive armor on it.

inisyaruD111 8 months ago
too bad the rpg 7 is a shaped charge and is designed to punch small deep holes just like it did. thats why it can penetrate so much tank armor. this is misrepresenting the weapon.
miggyg24 8 months ago
@miggyg24 exactly, it's not meant to bring down a whole fucking building. It's designed to burn straight through inches of armor and burn/ignite whatever is on the inside

No british challenger 2 has ever been took out by an rpg and 1 tank was hit quite a few times by one
wwwNooBcom 9 months ago
@wwwNooBcom
TheDeludedFactor 9 months ago
@TheDeludedFactor Add that to current day active protection systems, and old RPG-7 rockets are pretty much useless.
anonimystro12345 8 months ago
@anonimystro12345
Indeed! ;)
TheDeludedFactor 8 months ago
@anonimystro12345 New RPGs shoot a decoy rocket and after miliseconds the main munition is fired so automatically the protections systems are useless just in one night.Btw if a terrorist shot you from 50m meters I don't think that the protection system will manage to intercept the PG-7 unguided rocket.
Stratigoz 8 months ago
@Stratigoz Only the RPG-30 is able to do that currently, and it is kind of expensive comapred to an RPG-7.
And, believe it or not, modern Active Protection systems such as Trophy and especially Iron Curtain can intercept RPG's from distances as short as 15 meters.
anonimystro12345 8 months ago
Screw it, what an effing hoax. A shaped charge detonates in the very moment its tip touches the target. This grenade fully disintegrates before the charge kinda catches fire. That's not how it works at all. Looks like they disabled the fuse to make the glass look impenetrable.

real RPGs don't blow up half a continent like we see in Hollywood movies. This RPG worked the way it was intended to work, namely deliver a small focused jet of molten copper and super hot gas that would slice through glass and metal and kill everyone inside.
SAMER63 10 months ago
@SAMER63 Well it depends on which shells you're using. The ones they show on Hollywood movies are more like anti-infatry shells they explode producing huge explotion and spraying little metal fragments all over the place. The anti-tank shells are they ones you have described above. There's also many more types of shells for any kind of mission
KGSultan 10 months ago
@KGSultan True I am aware of the different warheads, but seems the hollywood ones pack 5000 tonnes of TNT haha even the ones that target tanks, and that's why some of the people here think the warhead in the clip "failed". The same with hand grenades. Real hand grenades make a small thud, while hollywood ones blow up entire bases and buildings in a huge apocalyptic fire ball.
SAMER63 10 months ago 2
@SAMER63 It probably did fail... it's not supposed squish itself like that, it should detonate (almost)imediatly upon impact...
AKAtheA 10 months ago
@AKAtheA nope look at 1.38 and 1.55 for the explosion. The reason why you see it the way you do is because it is filmed with high speed camera, and hence it looks like it took forever before the explosion happened, while in reality it's in the milliseconds.
SAMER63 10 months ago
@SAMER63 I know the explosion is there, it's just that shaped charges like these need a significant offstand distance, in the vid, it looks like the entire warhead was squashed, efectively transforming it into a HESH instead of HEAT :D
