I just notice i posted the reply 3 times... seems i'm more twitchy than i remember. I'm pretty sure happy pills are someone's nickname for anti-depressants. If it's a choice between happy pills and death then i think we'd all choose pills. If it's a choice between happy pills AND death over life then i think it's probably very rare for anyone to choose pills.

Deliberate pseudo horror genre is chilling. Inversions of dark and light challenge assumptions about what is good and bad. Use of irony in list of horrors (abuse of religion + cheese) plays into disturbing sense of uneasiness. Burning of the witch as well as the crucifix, along with final question about which is worse ("evil" or the evil lengths people got to in trying to destroy it) is a real question, well raised. Menacing play with irony and inversion make this discomforting -- appropriately.
Kind of hypnotic to say the least...
