LoL, the sci fi action/horror survival genre has been done 50 times between games, books and movies. Are you really expecting some brilliant new storyline from an already way overdone genre ? You want a good story, go read a book. We play video games for just that, ' game play ', and Dead Space delivers in that department. Smooth controls, great graphics, unique/tactical game play, even some critical thinking. You can kill aliens by not shooting the limbs, but you waste a lot more ammo doing it.

I've grown up with over 25 years of horror and sci-fi so I clearly know what this franchise "borrows" its elements from and wraps it together in a cliché jacket that is easily appealable to those who just want recycled chew. I was just curious, you made such a blunt statement, I wanted to know why. Dead Space reminds me of Alien, one of my fave movies ever. Which is why I like it. Also, Isaac is a really great character. You can see the trauma he is going through. It makes you feel for him. So what if DS isn't original. Plus, playing a game isn't just about the plot, you know. It's about gameplay. That is a very important part. DS has VERY good gameplay.

Since I am an Alien fan, I was using that as my point. But if you have never played the game, how could you know if it blows? The only thing your going on is the advertisements. Which are designed and made to sell the game. Obviously. That is how it works. Of course they will try to sell it as "hot new shit".

Which in some ways, it is, others, not so. I mean, dismemberment as a way to kill the necromorphs and strategic gameplay is one unique thing about Dead Space. And I am not a fanboy.

True, but there are other elements that are similar to Dead Space. Crew going crazy and killing each other. Second crew sent out to investigate the space craft they lost contact with. The marker in Dead Space acts like the core on the Event Horizon. It makes people crazy.

Also, DS2 is more action than horror. You can't really call it a true horror game. I love the psychological aspects to it though. And like I said before, I love the character development of Isaac.

Horror games don't sell very well. Which = not that many about. To me, Dead Space is the best action/horror game out this generation, so far. It's a pretty charming franchise, especially if you are a huge fan of Alien/Aliens.
