The ground forces had this Elite as their Field Master...fail...seriously the Field Marshall in Reach had more skill than this guy. Heck even an Ultra or Spec Ops Elite in Reach has more skill with a sword than this guy and they're the lowest rank allowed to use a sword

@loutintistacker No, Elites are bad-ass. They're my favorite species in HALO. In HALO 2 if I saw Elites fighting Brutes or anything else I'd help them out, even though they'd turn & fight me as soon as the mutual enemy is dead. Shoot, I sometimes even left them alive to fight again.

@TheSchemer1 IIRC from the books & all the other stories, they're actually better than Spartans in almost every way imaginable. Better reflexes, stronger, smarter, faster, etc. it just doesn't seem that way in the games because they're supposed to be killed by the player. IMO, Elites are the best in HALO.

@Jaidabecca You're correct. No Spartan has ever been physically stronger than a covenant elite. Think about it-it takes like, 3-5 hits to melee a minor or major elite(depending on difficulty) whereas an elite can deck you once and you are dead instantly.

Combat Evolved was actually good. Back when melee mattered, grenades weren't funny little fire crackers, and the sword didn't look like it was made out of plastic.

yeah the sword actually had a glow to it, but it had a dull sound when an elite owned you with it. Still better than its sequel swords.

Don't forget pistol melee was way better than those in 2 and 3. You whipped your enemies with a pistol and flipped it.

Legendary difficulty. Bungie literally but over 5,000$ on the AI for Legendary. Don't you see what the Elite was doing at the start of the fight? He was analyzing Jaida. He was below him, he was looking for a way to ambush him.

In 2001 Bungie would have had to pay more like $10,000 to get an Elite to do that. Trust me, as a video game programmer, I would know this - that Elite was stuck behind a wall, and it's AI was to elementary to find it's way around. A simple calculating error - that's ALL.

Very nice. The Golod Swordsman is the hardest enemy in the game and on most difficulties, all it takes is 1 swipe and your dead. That took great timing not to be touched. Nice one.

It might be if you're more comfortable with the Plasma Rifle's melee hit. Also, I believe that the Assault Rifle has the most balanced melee attack, that's why I worked my beat down strategy(i guess you could call it that) around the AR's melee hit.

In Halo:CE, all melees do the same amount of damage,just that they take different times to do each one, ie. Rocket Launcher melee vs Plasa Pistol melee
