Yes, it is great music and its endurance and changes is very interesting. As an American I envy the Russian and French national anthems. So powerful compared to ours, which is the tune of a 18th century British drinking song and the lyrics of a lawyer. On the music there is no debate, now with regard to freedom, opportunity thats another story.

I’m sorry, but the Russian national anthem makes our Star Spangled Banner sound like something some idiotic teen rock band would come up with. It’s a shame, really, because the lyrics -- a poem written by Francis Scott Key -- is a magnificent work, deserving of a far better melody.

I'm 100% American but I LOVE the Russian national anthem. No wonder they have tears rolling down their eyes when they stand to this. I wish the Star Spangled Banner had this kind of power. Our anthem is < compared to the Russian National Anthem. Such power and strength of a hymn if I have ever heard one. Also for anyone wondering they did this in the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games in honor of Sochi Russia holding the 2014 Winter Games!
