  • I am proud of our president.

  • Impossible that this could happen in any European country, especially here in Germany. our foreign secretary is GAY ! The Mayors of Berlin and Hamburg (in their functions as prime ministers of states, because Berlin and Hamburg are Federal German States) ARE GAY !

  • What this woman experienced fell far outside the bounds of human decency. A dying person has the basic human right to spend that time with whomever they chose or, if incapacitated, with whomever could reasonably be guessed she'd chose. There is nothing "gay" about dying with the people you most trust around you or being with a loved one when they pass. That's just human. The refusal to recognize that violates the very essence of the hippocratic oath. This hospital has no honor.

  • Go to New York Times site for Apr 20 for a related story--tragic. Suit charges elderly Couple was forced apart

  • @dpt1414 If people google "Suit Charges Elderly Gay Partners Were Forced Apart" the story will come up! This story is as bad as it gets!

  • Gays have no rights above other people, but they have the SAME ones and stupid right ppl deny them

  • Well, those hospital employees better lose their fucking jobs for this.

  • Great, more government control and lies leading the country down the wrong path.

  • Giving a gay couple who has been together for years the right to visit each other in the hospital, a right straight couple have even if they've only been married for a day, is too much government control? It's a lie? To justify the way these women were treated (theirs is not an isolated incident) is pure evil. Plain and simple.

  • a long time coming

  • who ever denies a gay person visitation rights is pure absolute evil, and the last place on earth they need to be is in a hospital. they probably get off seeing patients die.

  • Patients getting to choose who visits them in the hospital? What a crazy fucking idea. Why has our country been backwards for so long.

  • Anderson, the red goes on the top. The flag you're showing is the peace flag.

  • It's ridiculous that we even need this order from the President. I work in healthcare and cannot imagine a situation where I would ever want to keep a dying patient from their loved ones. The treatment this family were given was inhumane.

  • This will only lead to people wanting to visit their pets at the Vet Hospitals. :(

  • I'm not gay and will never experience this, but I am disgusted how long term partners are not treated as a spouse when it comes to medical care. I see no reason for a partner to be excluded from visiting and in the case of a birth I hope partners are able to be in the room. This makes me sick that this lady was dying and the one she loved most and trusted most was denied access to her. This is a good thing that Obama did. It should have happened a long time ago!

  • a hospital shouldn't be adminestred like this! it's a shame!

  • @giuliodf Yea ... HOW DARE Obama not let people force dying queers away from their family!!

Ehh. Is there any shred of humanity left in you? I find opposition to this shockingly basic freedom and human rights issue to be flat out depraved on SOOO many levels.

  • Thank You, Mr. Obama.

  • Slowly but surely, the world will destroy these sort of injustices.

  • It's shameful that it took an executive order from the president to make hospitals across the country do the right thing.

  • This is great, can't agree more that this is not Gay Right, it's Human Right! well done, Pres. Obama!

it's kinda interesting when seeing AC was broadcasting this news.......lol
