@ReikoX7 This is such a common misconception. S mode has absolutely no impact on acceleration. I've had VW and Audi products for many years. S mode simply sharpens throttle response and aides braking by downshifting while braking. When the pedal is to the floor, it's gonna do the same thing in D that it does in S.
The car switches into S mode by itself, when you push the pedal all the way down. When you have the pedal on the floor, D and S are the same.
The car is fastest in Manuel mode though, where it shifts in as little as 8ms, if it expects the shift (which it always does). It also clutches in harder in manual. It's especially faster on the diesels where the DSG goes too far in RPM but it's also good for the gasoline models because you can hit the torgue-band better.
No, no. :) I'm saying that the difference between S and Manual is greater on a TDI than a TSI.
The TDIs are fast, especially in the 80-120kmh, but in a drag I think the 2.0TSI will win clearly.
I own a 2.0TDI DSG, and they are fast cars. It's not often I can't outdrive anyone I meet on public roads if I want to, but it also gets 1000km to its 55L fuel tank, which is why it was my choice over the 2.0TSI. I think the TSI is still faster though. :)
yes this is thing why I like tdi engines from vw you have there 170hp and only 6l for 100km and tsi takes much more gas :P and how long do you have it ? and you ve got double clutch on dsg ?
Mine is 140hp 2.0TDI. I tried both the 170TDI and the 140TDI, and the smaller has more bottom-end torgue and smoother power delivery, as well as better economy and is quieter. It's also more suitable for the car in terms of power - the 170 feels like the car cant control it properly.
And yes, the DSG is a dual clutch transmission. It's basically a robot-controlled manual transmission with two clutches. It has launch control and shifts in 8ms. Search for it here on Youtube. :)

maybe i am not such a good driver but u sucks dude...i can see from an airplane that ur not for this car....sorry about my coment but this is the truth...
mosquiton001 i agree with what you say but first of all for example the golf GT in my opinion is a fast car for the first 150 km/h on the tacho and that because it has alot of power but with the main 1400cc torque are useless...in the other hand the turbocharged engines has less life time than an atm engine because of the high temp that the turbo produces...the only reason that i can think of that is good to be an engine turbocharged straight up from the factory is the low price of the vehicles
its not about letting the turbo cool but rather to let the turbo wind down while oil is still being fed to it ,
with the engine cut and turbo still spinning it is running dry , premature bearing and oil seals failiure are more lkley to happen in them conditions !
@THCmuzicalmasta Yes, you are right. I also know it is for preventing it from spinning without oil, but is is often more complicated to make people understand it in that manner, and simply saying "to let it cool down" usually works better, although inaccurate :)
Honda gets about 240 hp from their 2.0 VTEC engines, and about 260 hp from their 2.2 VTEC, without turbocharger or supercharger. My point is that those Japanese engineers sure know their stuff.
Sure they do, but I'm sorry to say the F22C has the same power output than the F20C, 240hp, only slightly more torque.
Revs are one way, Turbo other way. VW knows how to get power from a NA also, every manufacturer knows, WTCC cars are 2.0NA (before the damn TDI trend) with 280+ bhp, be it Seat, BMW, Alfa, Chevrolet or even Lada
240 HP and basically no torque under 6000 RPM (on a 9000 RMP redline engine)
fast cars.. but Useless in normal driving condition (low end torque is the king for everyday use)
so i still think that FSI turbocharged /supercharged engines with load of torque at every RPM are much better than "japs" ultra high revving engines...
not to mention that with a Remap you get 30% more power thanks to the turbo... on hondas mapped you get like 5hp at best cause is aspirated..
@videoking85 You need to get just the right amount of weel spin for maximum acceleration off the line, the laungh control knows what he is doing! Damage to the tire but cant have them all:)
lunch control ? hmmmm yes it has a microwave built in to glove box and it has a boot full of rustlers 1 finger food, what would you like ? oh yes a high fibre meal will make you faster ! LOOOOOL dude are you for real ?
launch control allows you to pull off @ 30000 rpm instead of 850 rpm allowing you to get a fast take off from the lights or stand still position ! it does not make the car go faster in general ! just pull of faster ! LOL.
I have this car at home I remapped it and now 250 hp it is a rocket.

Honda gets more power from their 2 litres without turbo. VW is far from superior.

does stock 2.0 turbo honda engine get 270 bhp? because that's what you get from s3 2.0 turbo (stock).

vw gets 170hp from a 1.4L and you can tune it to 205hp stock
do that on honda :)

That still isn't more power per liter then what the Japanese can get. And is it without turbo or supercharger?

i think the 0-100kph was about 6.9 seconds, so that means 0-60mph must be about 6.6 seconds i think?
donnykaraoke 2 years ago
ye I messed exactly 6.9 seconds from 0-100kph too
and yes ... in mp/h it would need about 6.6-6.8 seconds with the DSG transmission.
VW claims that you can run too 100kph in 7.5 seconds with the standart manual transmission.
that´s not that slow for a 200Hp car.
