Sakimoto is now making the music for the upcoming PS3 game Valkyria Chronicles.

However, like most of his work, Sakimoto's musical ideas are in a league and categorization all its own. I respect the idea that he was willing to do something different and believe that he was successful, even if it wasn't what we've come to expect of traditional Final Fantasy music.

The music accomplishes more by blending into the game, helping to carry the story along, creating emotion as opposed to previous that are just stand out tunes, typical melodic tunes, often sounding dated and fuzzy - that's quality as opposed to foul, lager, fagging idiots singing about being lager, fagging Northern tossers - something that only an ASBO kid would enjoy.

It almost isn't fair throwing Sakimoto into this situation. Uematsu has had a number of years to familiarize others with his Final Fantasy music. Whatever Sakimoto created has the distinct displeasure of being different, and therefore "undesirable" with the conventions that dictate it.
