Anyone think its funny to hear these great italians (I think they're all italian?) singing frank sinatra, considering his mafia connections? Also its funny how they pronounce the words, but so beautiful really :)
Without a doubt, this is the most meaningful song for me. This was a great rendition. But there is noone (and not even close) can sing this like the boss. The second best rendition to Frank's is the Robbie Williams' at Albert Hall. But even that was not close to Frank's version. :)
a SPLENDED RENDITION.....old blue eyes was on the verge of major tears and they would not have been out of place. Not only could those three tenors really put forth the sound - but they had the obvious benefit of being under the direction of the world class MAESTRO ZUBIN MEHTA. He is truly the straw that stirs the drink.....he really makes it all happen.
Placido Dimingo, Jose Carreras e Luciano Pavarotti, previlegio de ouvir suas vozes e contemplar o talento dos treis. Obrigada pelo Show que ficara em nossos corações.
What a beautiful song, what a beautiful voices, and with "The Voice" listening them!!! It was a touching, poignant moment. He was unique and his voice will stay with us forever!!!
I don't remember Frank having trouble getting up to give them a standing ovation. You may have him confused with Gene Kelly. Kelly nearly fell after their "singing in the rain" number because a series of strokes robbed him of his graceful and beautiful coordination in his final years. I remember it because it nearly brought tears to my eyes
I watched this live, and Sinatra almost fell as he was getting up to acknowledge the applause and the Three Tenors. In subsequent broadcasts and recordings of the event, the near-falling episode was edited out.
1994 was really when the death watch began for Sinatra. He had been cut off earlier during his speech at the Grammy Awards when he received his Grammy Legend award, reportedly at the advise of one of his assistants because she felt he would ramble out of control. Within weeks, he collapsed onstage in Virginia. Anyone approaching it objectively could clearly see Sinatra was wearing out.
This is beautiful and brought tears to my eyes BUT Engelbert Humperdinck does it just as great or in opinion better. Brings tears to my eyes everytime I'm at a show and see him sing it. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful, I'm sure that Frank Sinatra was in awe listening to the best 3 voices in the world singing what he used to call "the national anthem". The Chairman of the Boari met the shareholders...
3 italians togheter? It would be a Mafia gang if wasn't for the Spanish guy.

Not one of their best, throat-singing from Domingo, he is better now, 15 years later!
RudySunseeker 2 years ago
I disagree I think his singing is less in the throat than carreras
nikkivieler 2 years ago
@nikkivieler What does it mean to sing in the throat?
McGarvinStudios 2 years ago
it means you are not projecting your voice to the public.
the sounds coming out of throat /jaws intead of being projected from the front of the mouth
