  • I've heard other versions in the gospel style that I've loved, but this one isn't doing anything for me. .

  • Harrison lost the plagiarism lawsuit but in a shrewd business move bought The Chiffon's record label for $500k before the judgement. Thus he paid the settlement to himself.

  • This is great. As a JEW I can only applaud this one. Milk the cash cow!

  • It's so tacky that this ever happened

  • Sure it's the same melody, but I think it'd be hard to say My Sweet Lord isn't the better song of the two on many levels. But yes the writers of He's So Fine do deserve to share the royalties. But man it has got to suck to realize you've plagiarized someone unintentionally. Let's face it, Harrison certainly wasn't in desperate need of getting a melody from someone else.

  • @gfink2 John Lennon insisted Harrison knew exactly what he was doing.

  • haha it's funny that throw in he's so fine at 2:56, you can almost hear the singer smirking

  • I prefer George Harrison's My Sweet Lord as opposed to this one. George sings it with more feeling...

  • suck*

  • They sucjk for one reason:THEY SUED THE GREAT GEORGE HARRISON!!!!!

  • Many of the notes are the same as She's So Fine, but if you listen to both songs by the chiffons back to back, you can hear some major differences too, even to the untrained ear.

  • i think it's great!

  • What works about this version is that She totally nails the Gospel style in which it was written. It's not that it's Christian; it's that it's completely correct for the genre. It also makes the point that they are the same song. Stealing music in the way Harrison did is a flattery in every way!

  • SO FUNKY!

  • Did GH rip the chiffons off or vice-versa?

  • there´s only one Lord, Jesus Christ!

  • @55102 lol very unprofetic statement and underestimating of my spiritual God.

Chiffons and George Harrison are critical to spiritualism and faith written in music.

This piece is a GREAT cover and I find the humor in it's production coming from the "He's So Fine" lawsuit.

  • @55102 I can do better than that: there are zero gods. Oh dang, forgot the Easter Bunny....

  • Oh boy, this was interesting to listen to, especially near the end when she mixes to two songs, he's so fine and my sweet lord. Silly isn't it how it ended up in court and yet they're both wonderful songs in their own respect.

  • Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur devo Mahesvarah

    Gurur sakshat Para Brahma

    Tasmai shri Gurave namah

    2:54

  • HARRRIII KRRRIIISSHHHNNAAA! (George harrison version) Haha :D I love both versions! :)

  • Think of it this way. They wouldn't have recorded this song if they weren't in some way flattered by George Harrison borrowing(or stealing if you want to look at it that way)from "he's so fine." It's usually greedy record companies and managers who pursue lawsuits anyway and rarely the artists themselves.

  • _)_ pra essa viadagem '-'

  • ?パクられたChiffonsが歌ってんの?

  • Has the meaning of a song ever been butchered so mercilessly for commercial gain as it has here?? I can understand their anger or resentment or whatever with the legalities surrounding the "He's so Fine" situation, but this is just horrible. The deep insincerity in the production and vocals is actually offensive to my ears. Shame cause the lead has a nice voice. Just such a ruthlessly tasteless cover.

  • @jcb21691 Well, what did you expect? It's the music industry.!

"He's So FIne" was in the middle of the legal controversy with "My Sweet Lord" at the time. Of COURSE they're going to cash in!

  • @fhb3isback Depressingly, I don't think such cynicism is limited only to the music industry.

  • @jcb21691 Yeah, I know...

  • @jcb21691 This is Black Gospel style. There's no anger that I pick up.

  • @jrssjdca That's because you know nothing about the history of this song. Surely a brief google/wikipedia search would not be such a painful thing to do before you post a reply?

  • @jcb21691 I checked Wikipedia in response to another poster. Anger doesn't enter into it. Commercial gain does come into it because the plagiarism was a big deal at the time, and this song was bigger than theirs. Harrison was deeply religious which is well known, so is that your sermon? You have 4 Black women singing this, and their version isn't going to sound like his. Re-read your post, and note that your assertions are clearly your opinion and nothing more. You're just being a knucklehead.

  • @jrssjdca Knucklhead? Another internet hard-man I see. Anyway, the point is that regardless of what music style they are singing in, they have butchered this song. I am not saying that they set out to do so, but their musical inadequacies and insensitivities meant that they were unable to do otherwise. I fully agree that commercial gain was a significant factor in the recording.

I used the word resentment because they are clearly also having a dig at Harrison. This is so obviously a jibe at him.

  • @jcb21691 Nah, I was just responding to your sarcasm. One gets hardened on the internet, you're right. Okay here's the deal. You think they butchered the song, I think it's just their style. To be perfectly honest, in listening to both versions, I prefer Harrison's. Not putting down the Chiffons, but I like the original better. Of course, think of George Harrison having done a Chiffon's song! Not a good idea. He'd have been accused of not having any Soul! Maybe even butchering it!

  • szóval ezt másolta le a beatleses.érdekes.........

  • and the hinduism is jettisoned out of the song ... sigh, silly little girls.

  • They covered this tune because of George Harrison's original sounding like their 1963 "He's So Fine." This happened during the lawsuit, which when over, Harrison being the owner of both tunes.

Harrison wrote "This Song" as a response to the trials and tribulations of the lawsuit concerning "My Sweet Lord" and "He's So Fine."

  • I like this version as well as george harrison's. The difference is that one is christian led, and the other iis eastern. I enjoy listening to good music it makes no difference to me who is singing..

  • @7252christian Turns out it has chants of Hare Khrishna's prayers at the end [according to wikipedia] so IT IS NOT CHRISTIAN. I think people assumed that because they are Black & the use of the word Lord...

  • @IamAbillionaireNow Have you listened to this version yet?..LOL

  • @MrQuaker62 You are correct about THE CHANTS! Those are in the George Harrison version However @ 2:55 they do include "He's so fine" a line from their secular song talking about a sweetheart not Jesus...Turns out there are other versions out there recorded by other artists who give ALL the glory to God....They still get props for recording it because it has inspired many ppl...ijust hope George Harrison found out that ONLYJesus is Lord before he died...

  • @IamAbillionaireNow OK. George was not a Christian so I guess if God destroys or tortures people who don't accept Jesus as Lord then that's what happened...BUT I think God is Love and George is fine. So Fine.

  • Sung as gospel, which is not how it written..

    It is so fine.

  • @boogieeck Billy Preston also recorded this on Beatles' Apple label, & his version is sung as gospel, too. In fact I thought I read that Preston actually recorded this song before its writer George Harrison did.

  • @tamspeci

That is correct! In fact, Preston and the backup singers he provided all helped write the song. They were all together and Harrison brought up the idea of toying with Black-American Gospel music. He played a melody, and one of the backup singers who, like Preston, grew up on Gospel, started singing, "My sweet Lord," to the tune and the first Gospel Bhajan was born!

  • Cool. I was just thinking about this version and there it is. Thanks!
