I'm still partial to the album version with Harrington's awesome wah-pedal solo...
Too bad he and Goss never saw eye-to-eye after the first album... the original lineup was their best incarnation... but I'm biased... I used sneak into the local club in Syracuse when I was highschool to watch these guys shred live well before they got signed and the first album came out... I remember they opened for the Smithereens and blew them off the freaking stage...
Awesome! I just wish there were backing vocals on the "OOOOH OH ooooh oooooh" part like Josh Homme's on Flak 'n Flight. Sounds hollow without 'em. Although I really enjoy the bass guitar in this performance so it's a toss up for me.
Wow! Loved it! Everytime I watch this I keep a close eye on that dude with the SG. Is he having fun or what? He looks like a fan who knew the song, got up on the stage and jammed with the band! Incredible! It's good to see musicians smile when they play...
rabbits. the transition in this song is incredible. It's been a sad time. so many copies after this. when I first heard this song, I winced - thinking of another song that gave me the heebie jeebies: Safe European Home. Put that in your pipe.
@FromBeyond99 it is. damn these guys deserve better. or maybe this is all they want. either way, kudos to googes rugrat for throwin out some stuff recorded before the first album came out.
i still want to see the little hidden track from the first album put up on the tube. its a little ditty on guitar and banjo. the tune is when the saints go marching in, but all mastered up. it is NOT 'the anchor" and it DOES exist.
love these guys...one of the "lucky" cd purchases back in the day --- plenty of not so great ones...was sure these guys (Goss) were going to be superstars...oh well...the music is great either way
@foleystephen abso-fucking-lutely! no offense to zeppelin, cream, sabbath (!) or anyone else, but the first one is so damn good it makes my teeth hurt. i found their first album by mistake at a goodwill store (nice irony) it was a hand labeled cassette case thta said master of reality. i was pissed for about 10 seconds. then i felt like i had been given a gift. wore it out in about a month. 2 years went by before i found another, and it was sunrise. this was pre internet.
@edslides thats funny... thats exactly how i came apon them. except it was i box of cassettes next to the register at some convenience store, i thought the cover art looked cool and its was $4. one of the best $4 purchases i ever made.

wow that guy is airhumping the shit out of this bitch, beanie and a smoke and all. Even fred durst would think this guy was a douche bag...then again it was 99
Awesome!!! But who is that other guitarist? That dude was having a lot of fun!! He is always smiling and jamin! That's the way I would look if I were up there having fun. Anyone know who he is?
when goss starts the vocals its like god's hand decending down to show that honest to god rock and roll is still very electrfying and still can be done right.
Studio version definitely does not have it. I like both versions though. This version is way harder and intense but the studio version is more dynamic
I only have it because there is internet. Don't have a copy of it. I also don't think it's still in print same as the debutrecord from qotsa that's only available on ebay for like $100 or more.
Goss is a big fat bad ass! If he had tits I'd do him, oh wait....
Seriously, one of the best bands ever with a live show that just burned heaven to the ground. Knowing Chris is still kicking it as heavy heavy as ever just made my day.
One question: what's with the other guitar player? looks like it's his first time on a big stage and he's grinning at his gramma through the whole thing.
