It's kind of interesting that they are working to get these charging stations, given that the Volt can generate electricity from gasoline. Must be an indication of all electric vehicles down the road.
It is a stop-gap measure until the time when batteries can hold more power and/or be charged very quickly at convenient recharging stations. It would be great if the Volt and others like it didn't have to use small gasoline-powered engines, but rather propane, CNG or alcohol fuel, thereby making the cars even less polluting.
I saw this spy video the other day on you tube of the Ford C-Max. At 1:30 the car is seen pulling a small covered trailer just under two foot tall. Could it be that Ford is working on an EV range extender in the way of trailer full of batteries? Rent the trailer for vacations and extend your range from 100- 400 miles or more.
