  • Thank you so much Laura, my partner is Colombian and speaks good English but her family do not.

    I'm due to fly out there in March and can now hold a decent conversation in Spanish with my partner on the phone.

    I'm hoping it's good enough to speak with them aswell.

    Best regards Richie

  • Do you post your scripts on your blog? I'd like to see the spelling of what you're saying, too!

  • @CreativexthinkeR Yes, I do. If you visit my website you will find all of my video lessons in order with free lesson notes so that you can read exactly what is being discussed. Saludos, Laura

    100 = Cien

    1000= Mil

    10.000 = Diez Mil

    100.000 = Cien Mil

    1.000.000 = Un Millón

  • Tengo Quince Años :-)

  • tengo dieciocho anos !!

  • wow! there are lots of filipino words that are similar to spanish.

  • Oh my god, you have a beautiful spanish voice.

  • Hola,

    Thank you very much for your comments!

    In response to the last question, the Spanish letter “C” can be pronounced in two different ways:

    1. When it comes before the vowels “A”, “O” and “U” it has a similar sound to the English "K" or hard “C". For example: “cosa” (“thing”).

    2. If the “C” comes before an “E” or an “I” its pronunciation is slightly different depending on whether the speaker is Spanish or Latin American:

  • 2.1. In most of Latin America, the “C” has an English "S" sound when it comes before an “E” or an “I”.

    2.2. In most of Spain, the “C” before an “E” or an “I” is pronounced like the soft English "TH" in "through" or "think." Contrary to common belief, this is not a lisp, but is simply the way the letter is pronounced.

    Please see Lesson 9 in my Pronunciation Course for full details.

    Saludos,

    Laura

  • hi! i was just refreshing on beginner spanish since it has been some years...i notice you are using the "th" to pronounce "gracias" (grathias) and "cinco" (thinco) and "diez" (dieth)...i'm just wondering if this is the correct pronounciation as my past instructors prounounced them as the "s" sound and i have never heard it this way before...or is either way correct? thanks :-)

  • I always struggle with the numbers.Gracias por tu ayuda!

  • Muchas Gracias, that was really helpful.

  • I have a question, will native speakers of espanol will still be able to understand what i am saying if i do not roll my "R"? I say "Tres" delicate and never stress the "R".

  • I know you weren't specifically asking me, but since I am Colombian I figured I could answer this for you. Most of the time words like "tres" Spanish-speakers can understand you, but when it comes to similar words like "Perro" which is dog, and "Pero", which but, you would have to roll the R sound in Perro to differinciate the two words.

  • oh i see! Mucha Gracias!!! :D

  • hola, una pregunta,

    it's acceptable to pronounce cien without the native "th" sound, no?

    likewise - palabras such as noventa - you say like nobenta when i would pronounce like it is written. is that okay?

    gracias x

  • HI I have been wanting to learn spanish since my grandparents are from Spain I was wondering if I would be able to learn Spanish just from videos

  • Hola, my video lessons and the free activities on my blog will give you a good start, but if you are really serious about learning the language you should also consider investing in some live online lessons with me as well.

  • Full details regarding live online lessons are available on my blog. In these lessons you can practice real conversation and delve much deeper into the language.

  • very nice lessons. was wondering are the "c" spanish at times sounding similar to the english "th"?

  • Hola,

    The letter C has two pronunciations depending on the vowel that follows it. When it is followed by A, O or U you pronounce it as a K. When it is followed by E or I you pronounce it as TH, however in some places such as South America and the South of Spain people pronounce this as an S. I hope this helps!!

    Laura
