i dont get what is happening. why does everything seem like it lacks cohesiveness? im not disparaging the music i would just like to know whats going on
@copedogg888 People like you why the public thinks jazz is snobbish garbage.
You are not helping anyone and no one thinks you are smarter or cooler for acting like you understand the music better than someone asking a question.
Seriously, someone takes an interest enough to listen to this and goes even further to want to understand it and you, who apparently get it, simply brush him off?
@wtfdudenotcool101 Can you honestly explain this piece with words? Please do. It took me a few listens to really begin to hear the form and feel. As musicians, we need to listen and understand, that's how we develop. It was meant to be a sincere suggestion. I would assume that he asked that question as he was listening to this for the first time. And my answer would be to listen again, and again. I didn't realize the comment police was on duty. No offense was intended, officer.
@copedogg888 SO if someone walked up to at a gig and wanted to understand what you just played you'd say "Keep listening, buddy." and walk away?
No. The only reason you did is to seem elite or smarter or cooler than him. Which is the problem. You can't even admit it.
I know everyone of these players and have played with them, I guarantee they would do their best to give and honest answer that might enlighten as well as be kind and keep the guy coming back to listen...
@wtfdudenotcool101 If someone came up to me in person, I'd do my very best to show them my processes. But from afar, it is our responsibility to figure it out in our own way. Someone told me to keep listening to this tune b/c I didn't initially understand. I didn't take it personally, I just listened again. And I saw then that I ultimately have to make ME understand. As we all do. I can easily admit that I can't explain this tune in words. Perhaps Ambrose can, he wrote it. Just keep listening.
