It is over. Huet played like I do in net, our defense sucked, no excuse for they way they played. I think all the Hawks fans have accepted the fact that it's over and are looking forward to the 09-10 campaign and the last thing we want to hear is wings fans rubbing it in.
Well. It will be (as ESPN calls it) "Wings vs. Pens 2.0"
I think Pittsburgh is a much better team, and will prove more of a challenge, but I still have to go with the Wings in 7.
Our injuries haven't hurt us yet, and they're only going to get better. Lidstrom is back for game 1, Datsyuk is probable and Ericsson should be fine and Hossa should be fine for game 1. so there's no reason to not pick the Wings [key word:] based on their injuries.
This really can go either way. Pittsburgh is more refined than last year and has Malkin playing at his best. But as we all know, the wings know what it's like. Pens in 7.
Too true. It can go either way. It's hard to choose against or for the Wings here. It all comes down to the fact that I don't think Pittsburgh can beat Detroit 4 times in this series. I just don't see it happening.
People may talk about all the changes from last year to this year, but still, not enough things have changed for the Pens to dethrone the Wings, although it seems that is what will happen, it just won't happen IMO.
Yeah, the Hawks are a really great team and can mature like the Pens did and make another deep playoff run. Good luck next year, maybe you can snatch up some veterans to mix in, it could really help the Blackhawks out.
Hey, no worries. I expected the series to go to 7 games, I expected this to be a one goal game in favor of Pittsburgh. Detroit will win this series on home ice. Home teams will go 7-0.
No one said it would be easy, but most people said Detroit will come out on top. And they will.
Well, Detroit had their chances. Zetterberg's post, two PPs to potentially tie it, and that scrum at the end. Hopefully no Wings fans are doubting the Wings after this game. We lost by one point. We've outscored Pittsburgh 16-12 in this series. And we WILL win Friday.
So Wings fans, DONT WORRY, Be happy we will clinch it in Hockeytown.
Anyways, I give props to the Pens. They played good hockey tonight. It's a shame they'll lose Friday.
True. Think back to the Anaheim series. Wings have a 3-2 lead, lose in Anaheim, win game 7 at home. I have no doubt we will win game 7, although it will be a nailbiter because really, anything can happen, like you said.
While because of history, it's very hard to pick against the wings(unfortunately for me) in a Game 7 at home. The wings will most likely be hoisting the cup tomorrow. Good luck to both teams
I think, being somewhat neutral (it would be cool to see the west win again) that Game 7 was everything a casual fan could want. Obviously, we're not casual fans, but that game was exciting, and was probably a deep heartbreak for wings fans. I'm excited for next year, and for the first time in a long time, there's gonna be another team in the Central lookin for the division..
No way. The Canucks, of all teams, won't get past the Red Wings. And I'm still undecided on the two series that are 3-2 in the East. The two teams I picked to win are down 3 games to two -_-
And the Blackhawks win their semifinal, so you can count them out.
I'm done filling out a complete bracket at the beginning. I'm gonna do round by round next year..
They are the only team that can. Chicago can't. Because Detriot has good puck handling and they are fast-faster than Chicago. And all chicago is good at is being fast and scoring. Canucks have the best goalie that is left in the playoffs. Canucks can score, and they are tough.
Ahh, but there's still one big problem. They aren't better than the Wings. Neither of the teams from the other Western Semifinal will get past Detroit. If Detroit does manage to pull out of this series, you can pretty much advance them on to the final in your bracket.
The Canucks are a great team, and they will give Detroit a run for their money, but they just won't be able to win 4 games against them, simple as that.
I'm sure game 7 of WSH PIT will be pretty entertaining. So I can't quite match up the overall series to be quite as exciting, but I will say it was a great series, and seeing my Wings win is more exciting than anything.
I went to the game tonight, very nervewrecking. Saw some fights around, one wings fan flipped off a group of hawks fans, but besides that, pretty civil. Great rebound buried from Sharpie, it's not over.
I got Pens in 6 also, which was correct. The two sweeps i predicted manage to go to 7 games. how does that happen? If NJ and WSH win tonight, then I'm 6/8 for teams advancing to the second round. Pretty good, I guess.
I'm glad the Ducks ended yet another SJ season early. All those wings haters (that were sharks fans) probably feel like idiots! it's great!
Good Picks. A few I don't agree with. For instance I think that the Ducks can pull an upset against SJS.
I'm with you on the Wings repeat. I think that the team is good enough and experienced enough to bring another cup home to Detroit. Same with you I'm not just picking the wings because I'm a fan, that's just and added bonus. ;D
I am a Wings fan, but I predicted the Wings to win because of their playoff experience, and as much as people don't want to believe it, they're one of, if not the best teams in the playoff field. If I was a Canadiens fan, I would still pick the wings to win. I really do pick them to win the stanley cup. Just because I'm a fan of one of the best teams in the field and picked them over some other great contenders (bruins, caps, sharks) doesn't mean its only because I "like them".
Im a sharks fan and of course I want the sharks to go all the way, but your right with the wing's experience in the play offs... It would be an intense match up, and if any team were to win it'd be in 7 : P
good

Oh, but it is. Hawks won't win 3 straight and come back from 3-1, will they?
So, I'm pretty sure that everyone in the nation truthfully thinks it will be a rematch of last year's SCF.
Go Wings!
