How To: Restore the Nook Color Back to Stock

PLEASE RESPOND!!! Whenever I click on the link for III. Flash the Stock Firmware it takes me to a webpage that just says Erreur 404 Le document demandé n'existe pas! And it won't download! I was just wondering if someone can just send me the file or something?

If i just take out my sd card then run the nook it boots normally then i format the whole card

This is pretty cool...however I noticed after that I had gone back to the Nook OS my free space went from 1GB to nothing storage wise...and because of that My computer cant find it when I plug it into the usb port.....is that normal?

After I load the update using the .zip file, I reboot my nook color only to get a screen that says gives me an "install failed" error and I have no option but to power off. Help!!!

Will this process work on Nook E Ink Series 1000 too? It's stuck in factory fallback reset loop, on nook start up page. Battery is good, charged. Had it checked out by B&N. They advised me to buy a new unit!

Except the SD flash. I used a 16GB card, and downloaded the 16gb file.. it said there was not enough room.... ON A BLANK SD.??? so I went with the 8GB file. then it worked..

If you already have ROM Manager on your NC, you can skip making the card, download the stock zip (not sure about the old one in this video, see my comment below for a current one) to your NC, move it to /sdcard with your file manager, then in ROM Manager "Install ROM from SD Card."

If you want a restore file with the current B&N firmware (v1.3), it's under "Other Resources" in my dual boot thread on XDA. Google "taosaur dual boot nook color" and it should top the page.

@MrLuckyCharmz23 OK I figured it out, IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A FROZEN BARNES AND NOBLE ANIMATED SCREEN: just make sure the sd card is out, and press the volume up key, the power key, and the home key at the same time and hold them down for a few seconds. You will get a screen that pops up that takes you through resetting to factory defaults.

@bowlofcerealnet OMG you are my hero. I never thought I would find my answer in the comments section. Just did it and it worked. You have to hold down those buttons for like 10 seconds til the reset screen pops up. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH

so all you have to do if you get an error on formatting data, just continue on, then when you take out the sd card turn it on and do a Factory Reset, it should work after that, did for me :D

When I'm in CWM, I get an error message when I try to 'format data'.  What do you suppose is happening?

IT DOES WORK! :-)

If you see nothing on your card after the WinImage "img" , take your card out and put it back .

Also, according to the written instructions, you have to use WinImage to move the zip. You can just drag it directly through Windows Explorer, and that works.

Also, be ready to pull your SD right after your reset as your Nook may restart on it's own. If you don't get it out in time and see the skulls again, still pull it out and reset again. Then it should work.

i think it might be because the complete restore is ver 1.0.1 and when i got my nook it was running 1.1.0 but who knows for now im just using CM7 :)
