short sweet to the point demoing pretty much THE synth that defined geds keyboard sound. if by any chance you have to reluctantly sell ur obx ill buy it without skipping a beat! lol
Fantastic! Any chance of sharing some of the details of how you did this? I have the SonicProjects OP-X and would love to duplicate this. Can you post the OB-X settings? Maybe put it in the Info section? Really awesome!
I'd like to this too since I'd like to try to cover this song and am not getting a real OB-X anytime soon sadly.. let me know if you find out somewhere else please.
I got this. if you download the multi track rockband version of this song from Demonoid or something you can get the isolated tracks of all of the songs on the album. this is the "vocal" track
Sounds pretty good. The pic of Rush's stage shows a few rearranged synth keyboard and electronics. That big one in the foreground, is that a Synthex or a Korg Trident? Too big to be the OB-1
The big one is a custom setup. It is an oberheim 8 voice controller (hooked up to the 8 voice on the left hand side) the oberheim polyphonic programmer, an OB-1 below the Oberheim 8 voice, and i minimoog custom fit into the same package as the 8 voice keyboard and the oberheim programmer. The taurus pedals below were cv/gate interfaced with the minimoog, and the 8 voice for triggering, and also used for the bass sound. ( PS, the 8 voice is incorrectly called an OB-8 on the album cover)
Pretty amazing! sounds like the "Camera eye" for sure!! Big Rush fan here! I,think i noticed on "Moving Pictures" Geddy used the same model you have. Looking for that model any suggestions on where i can find one? i'm a keyboard player for a local band here in town.
No FX except the reverb.... ?

Ah, the Camera Eye. Epic song. Epic synthesizer.

man, that brings me back to the 80s in no time. I love that thing.

It sure sounds like there's some reverb.

how did you get the background sound - is it a sequence?

The OB-X S&H LFO (random low frequency oscillator) is modulating the filter throughout the entire track which gives it that sequencing effect.

Nah...I made this with my own hands. Although it's a close approximation it sounds quite different than the original.

I love those fat strings on the Oberheim boards. Prince used to use these boards extensively.

Hey, is this the one Billy Joel uses for the solo in "ALL FOR LEYNA"? It's hard to tell from the glare in the video...

That's OB-1. They are much bigger than they look in pictures.

Is this like a built in patch or something? It sounds so much like the song I thought it actually was the song at first. Anyway, it's awesome!
