@abx547 I dont know about the poet for this event. Might be a charity or whatever. But feminists do things internationally. For example, eve ensler in congo, haiti, afganistan, etc... wangari maathai in her native country. They promote democracy, human rights, set up shelters, orphanages etc.
They are concerned for other women basically. They also dont say that men are inherently bad, otherwise theyd hate me as well. They are trying to rid old customs that may hurt or oppress women.

@xsaraspondax I prefer to judge a movement (e.g. feminism) by it's ACTIONS - not it's claims. The dictionary may say what it is MEANT to be, but the actions of it's members speak much louder. When we see endless feminist 'studies' constantly blaming men for everything or absolving women of any responsibility for their wrong-doings, it becomes quite clear that it is about hatred of men.

And typical of feminism, it entirely ignores the other sides of the equation. There is glass cellar, where women refuse to do the 'dirty' jobs like sewer maintenance, electric pylon repair, etc. It also ignores female dominated areas, the lace curtain. And it ignores that women prefer to marry up financially.

There are some matriarchal cultures like Guam, but most in the world are patriarchal. And the highest paying jobs within the last 100 years, and the positions of power back in ancient times, weather it be power in politics, religion, house hold have been taken by men and excluded to women.
Second perhaps not doing the dirty work is a plus. But do you as many men as grade school teachers or nurses or in child care?

@SB13, Look up "The Vote" by Darren Blacksmith for an explanation. Consider also that men have to retire 5yrs after women but live on average 10yrs less than women. That is still ongoing today, not 100yrs ago.
Advances in various technologies have freed both groups up to move away from traditional roles/job areas.
Blaming men for women's choices isn't always the answer.. I'm sorry this upsets you so much.

And yes, I've read a couple of them, most recently one by Harriet Harman who claims men are of no use to a family. How sexist - but typical of a feminist. @sullenboy1o3o Yes, I know.. I was trying to draw a metaphoric comparison on how feminism behaves towards men and boys though, about the constant blaming and claims of superiority (feminism theory claims the Y chromosome is an inferior 'mutation of the X' for example).
Yes, we both agree with the general flow of equality for the sexes - but we see it from two sides of the same coin, it seems. I was very PRO feminist in my youth, but got tired of the endless blaming of men by feminists.
