One of the SMOOTHEST coasters I ever rode..... @ 1:41 coming down that hill (bat wing) is where the Camera is that takes you picture on the ride so SMILE........lol.

What a fine coaster Vortex is! So well designed, even more so taking into consideration it was built on the footprint of another coaster.

I loved this coaster from the first time I rode it. However, I wouldn't ride it more than five times a day for fear of brain trauma, and I refuse to ride in any seat other than the magic seat-car five, row one.

my favorite looper (or at my favorite that still exists) i love the old 1980s arrow coasters. my favorite of all time was the shockwave. but now i just have memories. :(

This is only my opinion. It might be one of my top 10 favorites when and if I ride it.

It's not the greatest coaster i've ever seen, but maybe thats because i've never rode it. This also maybe because i've rode King Da Ka ( Six flags Great Adventure, Jakson NJ), And the Griffon ( Busch Gardens Europe, Williams Burge Virginia.) But, I definatley would try it. Looks cool. =) My personal favorite is the Griffon, and then King Da Ka, and I also like Nitro, ( same park as King Da Ka), and Alpongiest, and Apolo's Chariot, ( Both same park as Griffon), But, I would ride the Vortex!=)

Once you've ridden the biggest coasters like Intimain Giga/Strata, or hyper/floorless coasters, these seem "not so fun"....These were good back in the day when those didn't exist

I am a coaster enthusiast and have ridden countless ones across the country...giga, hyper, floorless,suspended, inverted, launch, etc...but I still think the classics have a thrill that these newer coasters don't. When I go to KI for example...I hit Vortex first all the time, then it's onto the "next best thing" :)

I've been on the Vortex about 6 times. People say that Diamond back is a lot better because it's so much smoother but you can't compare them because this one goes upside down six times! For a roller coaster with 2 loops, i give it a two thumbs up and will be sure to ride it again. Like the comination of different parts of the ride! Wonderful idea and great video!

What a great coaster...22 and still going strong. Once it gets hold of you...it doesn't let go.You have to ride it to understand how amazing it is.

I've ridden old school, mega, hyper , giga and inverts...but The Vortex will always be my favorite.

Oh no, no, no. Vortex is a classic Arrow Dynamics coaster, and one of the few that is still thrillin people today after 22 yrs of operation. It's obvious that Vortex is still high on the list of great rides at King's Island. The park would've already removed it if it wasn't a top performer.

Ehh, for me it's just the drop that's scary, because even though I know it's structurally safe. The first time going fast on this gets me scared, after that I'm fine because the supports get thicker afterward. (i.e. inversions)

no they didnt tear the vortex down. they already built diamondback and on the web cam you can see vortex so its still there. i love vortex. i think its the best rollercoaster of all time

They are buuilding a water ride in its place(to replace the one they wrecked in early 2001)
