4th Gen 69-72. RVN 69-70. My dad "Gunny" was one of the Frozen Chosin, Tarawa,Iwo,Peleliu My Brother a Bronze Star and PH from Chu Lai 65'. Lost Gunny in '88 to an agent orange cancer, my brother 08MAR10 to the same. Now I fight an AO motor disease. We were all proud to serve and as the last one I still am. RIP Dad&Paul.please make sure I'm on the Muster Sheet!! BTW My Son now serves in the US Army and will soon deploy. (EOD) he didn't break the tradition. More like he started his own.
@thepiratebabar Ooorah, your family is a fine example of what service is. Godspeed to your son and being from a family of Devil Dogs, the army shouldn't be a problem.
From these comments, I have read one thing that stands out in my mind, and which is forever true. That is, {Being a Marine is for Life}. I joined the Marine Corp in February 1956. And, I am still, above any other commitment, a Marine. The things you go through to become a Marine never leave you. It's like an indelible tatoo, it just don't come off.
Becoming a Marine is the best thing I ever did for myself, and for the people who have to put up with me. OoooRaaahhh !!!
I joined the Marines to serve my country and to protect and defend whats right and just, and cannot wait to get that very chance. Ship to boot camp 2011.
@xXSupermanXx24 I leave for Boot camp on Jan 18th 2011. I wouldn't mind leaving earlier but with my MOS I don't think there will be any spots open other then Jan.
@Sphereshock Work your ass out...run, run, and run some more. Don't settle for a treadmill either...it's a different thing that being outside on a road. And of course the basics of pullups, situps and pushups are going to be of great importance. But most of all, run.
@omgusernametak3n Nowadays, and many people do not know this, you dont get your GI Bill Post 9/11 (College money) until after you have served a certain amount of time in war duty. As a military brat, my father is an MP (Military Police)and can't use his GI Bill Post 9/11 until he has served his time in the war zone or in a position that benifits the war. he benifits the war by guarding the planes that are used to transport supplies/soldiers to Iraq. So they don't get college benifits for free.
There are two kinds of partiotism: Blind patriotism to a country and it's 'leaders' and real patriotism to human Liberty, not 'democracy.'
How many of these Marines would really uphold their oaths and refuse to kill Americans who are fighting our real 'domestic' enemies? That is the only question that matters.
Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first. Then share and prepare for what will be required of those who claim to love Liberty.
@ Renagade12345y Seach this above: "SAM attack" (no quotes) by EXnihilojimmy. If you don't feel your chest crushing your lungs and your heart in your throat, you're probably too detached from reality to survive as an F-18 pilot. BTW, that sound you hear as the last pilot barely escapes 2 SAMS, is not laughter, its shear terror, and his recovery takes up the rest of the tape. I applaud your desire to be a fighter pilot, but you need to experience this on a visceral level.
@Renegade12345y No, and here is the takeaway lesson. I don't know how old you are so take whatever applies to you. Just because you're in love with the idea doesnt mean you're gonna qualify, make it or even like it. Never go into anything without first spending time with someone with experience in it. Dont assume you know everything and turn a deaf ear to advice. And never, ever, take no for an answer to your dreams, once you've done your homework. See your inbox if you want to continue.
@Renegade12345y They are cool, and Lord knows I would have done it if I had the opportunity but....know going in that you are giving your life, it ain't Top Gun. My brother was a marine aviator, flew jets in 'nam and thats where his life ended, flying close air-ground attack. I'm a pilot, my son is a pilot and he just lost a good friend in an F-16 crash. This is serious business. You gotta be willing to pay the price to ride.
@Renegade12345y Yeah, easy if you're into extreme stress, lol. Check out the link I will drop in a minute to a YT video of a SAM attack on a flight of US fighters somewhere in the world. Then check your drawers for any new deposits. I could only watch it twice! My son isn't in the military, he's a Learjet Captain. He began his career just before 9-11 when military pilots quit leaving and they tightened the vision requirements again. Some of his buds did get in earlier, however.
im joining the marine corps because they are the best plain and simple, im not american im Latino born in south america, even though some people in this country hate me and hate my race i respect the US marines.
Did you take some of the audio from the recruit videos? I member watching them at my recruiters office, and most of this reminded me of those videos :] Good job man
Tevitrosa...who are you trying to convince? You aren't going to change anyones mind. Go back to sipping your latte at Starbucks in Seattle. I saw pussies like you crying to go home in boot camp. Someone who was babied their whole life. And then reality came and smacked them in the face.
I gaurantee you wouldn't go up to a marine and start talking shit because you would get your ass handed to you.
i joined the Corps in the 80's because mostly of a job. After I drilled across that prade deck jan 26, 1986, I will always know what it means when I hear Semper Si or Esprit De Corps. If your not a Marine (no hollywood jokes here guys) you don't know......period. and you'll never know till you give your word to serve, and to try to be a Marine.
@mustangjjz109 wow man, I made that comment 3 months ago and it's top thumb...alright!!!! typo on the Semper Si. WTF was that? thats embarassing. my brother-in-law in Afghanistan now for the third time. Lifer. I wasn't a career Marine but I never left my fraternity. Ours is the best in the world man. I was with 2nd AAV's out at courthouse bay, they jumped us every 8 months from Lejune to Pendelton, to the Rock, and back to Lejune. To this day I still keep up with 4 buddies. SEMPER FI, YAT YAS.
I dig this video alot man. The only thing is that im confuse is that idk which stands out or what should stand out ... what im talkin about is the music or the voice of marines. u feel me man? i would rather put up the volume on the voices of marines n lower the music so we can get a good clear on the voice.
i want to join the marines and serve my country i want to be a recon marine i know its a very long shot but i know i can do it thank you to all those marines that have served may god bless all of you and take care all of you
There are a number of reasons why a young person joins the Corp these days. They see an Organisation that'll give them a job because nobody wants them on civi street, The Corp has no real standards so for those joining up, it's the easy way out. They affiliate the Marine Corp with an Organisation that accept any ol' shit.
I think the most important factor is a sense of being Audie Murphy/John Wayne, you know all those Hollywood films, all those Wars we won on our own. I believe these youngsters have inside of them an intense sense of ignorance...............lol
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
'The Marines run to the sound of the gun...' type into the search engine 'Scared US Marines crying' I think this needs to be changed to 'Marines cower away from the sound of gun fire.'
@tevitarosa i wouldnt judge until u are in there position easy to say while you sit comfortably in a warm house, by a computer iiIii (- -) Feel me man!
And what would a pussy like you know about honor, service and sacrifice to something greater than yourself? why dont you shut the fuck up and go protest somewhere else
@tevitarosa You are just a cynic who claims on to that in order to shield yourself. The fact that you owe everything to men and women that you will never measure up to, are a coward, and obviously an ungreatful fool about how good you have it in the West must be a difficult burden.
Hey everyone, lookey here, we got one of them, you know witchamacallits *snaps fingers* oh a dumbass!
Look buddy, keep thinking what you wanna think, nobody cares really, because it really is nothing more then verbal diarrhea, but if you enjoy spending time bashing people who are doing far more important things with their lives, then by all means go ahead.
Yea i thought the same way but trust me use your GI Bill and at least get an assosiates, it will help you get promoted and if somethin happens you'll have something to fall back on

@Sphereshock Work your ass out...run, run, and run some more. Don't settle for a treadmill either...it's a different thing that being outside on a road. And of course the basics of pullups, situps and pushups are going to be of great importance. But most of all, run.
Thanks for enlisting.

It bothers me that there are some people that join the armed forces only for college benefits
omgusernametak3n 1 year ago

I applaud your desire to be a fighter pilot, but you need to experience this on a visceral level.
thewallpost 1 year ago
@thewallpost holy crap, that was intense. I bet he shit his pants... Thanks for the insight twp. You said you were a pilot, were you military?
Renegade12345y 1 year ago
@Renegade12345y No, and here is the takeaway lesson. I don't know how old you are so take whatever applies to you. Just because you're in love with the idea doesnt mean you're gonna qualify, make it or even like it. Never go into anything without first spending time with someone with experience in it. Dont assume you know everything and turn a deaf ear to advice. And never, ever, take no for an answer to your dreams, once you've done your homework. See your inbox if you want to continue.
thewallpost 1 year ago
I fuckin love the F-18 pilots, that is my dream to be a pilot of one of those beautiful birds......HOORAH!
Renegade12345y 1 year ago
@Renegade12345y They are cool, and Lord knows I would have done it if I had the opportunity but....know going in that you are giving your life, it ain't Top Gun. My brother was a marine aviator, flew jets in 'nam and thats where his life ended, flying close air-ground attack. I'm a pilot, my son is a pilot and he just lost a good friend in an F-16 crash. This is serious business. You gotta be willing to pay the price to ride.
thewallpost 1 year ago
@thewallpost I bet flying one of those is easy when someone is shooting at you. Thanks for the heads up and warning. Where is your son stationed at?
Renegade12345y 1 year ago
@Renegade12345y Yeah, easy if you're into extreme stress, lol. Check out the link I will drop in a minute to a YT video of a SAM attack on a flight of US fighters somewhere in the world. Then check your drawers for any new deposits. I could only watch it twice! My son isn't in the military, he's a Learjet Captain. He began his career just before 9-11 when military pilots quit leaving and they tightened the vision requirements again. Some of his buds did get in earlier, however.

There are a number of reasons why a young person joins the Corp these days. They see an Organisation that'll give them a job because nobody wants them on civi street, The Corp has no real standards so for those joining up, it's the easy way out. They affiliate the Marine Corp with an Organisation that accept any ol' shit.
tevitarosa 1 year ago
I think the most important factor is a sense of being Audie Murphy/John Wayne, you know all those Hollywood films, all those Wars we won on our own. I believe these youngsters have inside of them an intense sense of ignorance...............lol

The idea that service above and beyond self for a Govt that really doesn't give 2 hoots about them is a worthy cause (indoctinated, brainwashed)

InnerDemons268 1 year ago
@tevitarosa You are just a cynic who claims on to that in order to shield yourself. The fact that you owe everything to men and women that you will never measure up to, are a coward, and obviously an ungreatful fool about how good you have it in the West must be a difficult burden.
