My list is more like "unknown cartoons" but whatever;
"Tanoshii Muumin Ikka" (aka 90's Moomin series) because it is probably the deepest cartoon which you ever could show to a kid, and it has the best OST ever created. Alfred because it teaches kids about racism, drugs and Hitler (no seriously), Nils because it teaches about not being a douche, Coji-Coji because IT'S SO WONDERFULLY WEIRD and Cybersix because the cartoon was fucking awesome. Also Cybersix was made in Japan so it counts, so STFU.
good video i will have to check out el hazard as for my top 5 underrated showes
5:welcome to the nhk
4:brigadoon
3:x 1999
2:tokyo magnitude 8.0
1:kaiji
also can you plz do a review on a anime called kaiji its a really good anime thats why i put it at number 1 on my list i really enjoyed it and i know you would like it to once you start watching it aney ways i really hope you get a chance to check out kaiji and do a review on it
Hmm, interesting choices. I bought the first part of El Hazard when it came out in the UK, but back then I didn't really like it. Saying that, I've thought about it a few times in recent years, and it actually did have quite a lot going for it, so I'll need to give it another shot. I'll need to finish the original Birdy as well, it's a good one. Don't know if I'd say it was underrated, but more people should watch "Sexy Commando" - it's hilarious.
Great video, I might have to check out the Birdy OVA before I see the TV series.
As for my top underrated shows...That's a little hard to answer.
I'd probably say Kino's Journey, Baccano, Black Blood Brothers (maybe), Negima!?, Welcome to the NHK and Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei. (I know it's 6 instead of 5 but I'm just gonna wing it xD)
@Darkmessiah24 I saw a few episodes of Kino's Journey but I kinda find it boring, no offense. I haven't seen Baccano, Black Blood Brothers, Negima!? and Welcome to the NHK but I want to.
@whoisyouranime I love Black Blood brothers and I am SO glad to hear someone else knows about it. Interesting list, heard of El Hazard here and there but never enough to know if its worth checking out or not. Black Blood Brothers is a great underrated anime but some of my underrated anime would be Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Gokudo: Swordsman Extraordinaire, Scrapped princess, Nadia: Secret of blue water, and Gun X Sword.
1. Nadia the Secret of Blue Water - It is a pretty good anime, though watch out for its filler. The series is character driven and sadly, it is overshadowed by its little brother, Evangelion.
2. Magic Users Club - The OVA series was crisp in animation and had characters you can love and root for. The alien creatures became a tremendously brilliant mystery.
3. Princess Tutu - Sadly, it's a hit-or-miss for me, but it is up there because people STILL prefer Sailor Moon.
@unwaveringblindness I have been wanting to see Nadia the Secret of Blue Water. Haven't seen Magic Users Club and I have heard of Princess Tutu. I hope to see them all if I get a chance.
Animu is underrated, no shit. That's because people keep pushing the same few series in people's face with the horrendous love-it-or-suck attitude.
BTW, "underrated" sounds so "bawwy" and overused word nowadays with all the happy nerds and all, so words like "forgotten", "unpopular" or "old" are much more original and more outstanding.
A top list? The majority of top lists are made by people barely over 12 years. On top of what? Just call it a list, we can accept that.
@fingrid Dude, chill. You make it sound like I deserve to be murdered by Jason Voorhees for making this video. You are entitled to opinion but do you have to be so harsh?
@sky11dragoon I have only seen a few episodes of decode. It seems okay but it felt like bubblegum. It has a good taste but it fades away and loses it.
The five animes I've seen and think of as underrated are Texhnolyze, Oruguss 02, Megazone 23, Desert Punk, and Heat Guy J. I hear that The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye, Solty Rei, Pumpkin Scissors, and Phantom~Requiem for the Phantom~ are really good as well.
@puppetmaster1011 I have wanting to watch those animes. Texhnolyze, Megazone 23, Heat Guy J, The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye, Solty Rei and Pumpkin Scissors, I mean.
@whoisyouranime I recommend you do. Texhnolyze is my highest recommendation. Megazone 23 is good and is said to have inspired the Matrix films. Its footage was also used to make the Robotech movie, which I think was cancelled. Heat Guy J is great in the sense that it has great action, animation, music, semi-fun characters, and superb voice acting. I still felt that it was lacking in a few departments. It does try and is worth checking out for those reasons listed.
To be honest I don't really know any Anime I watch (besides "Devil Lady") that I consider underrated. I mean I would bring up "My HiME", but I bet you would consider that more overrated then underrated. So, as a suggestion for the next time you do a "Top 5" you should do a Top 5 Most Overrated animes. Just a thought. Great Video as always.
@sfighter991 I felt "My Hime" was a hit and a miss with me. The "Miss" is that it didn't get interesting until the last few episodes but the "Hit" is that it's like Final Fantasy Summoners kicking ass in high school.
Underrated is rare considering the anime I've watched, but I think some of the most underrated anime are s-CRY-ed, Kumba the Lion, and Overman King Gainer (hope you review these). s-CRY-ed was popular enough in the U.S. when it aired, but I don't think it had a good following in Japan. Sure, it's a Super Robot (but with no giant robots) anime with tons of plot holes, but it still could've merited a second season. Instead, we're getting an OVA.
I didn't like they sex up birdy in remake
