  • If anyone knows the actual production process of this film, James Earl Jones is NOT inside the vader suit...hence the actor inside the suit was doing the lines and making the gestures and James Earl Jones did the voice overbdub in the studio....just so you know...yes...it happens sometimes where the sync goes a bit....off...That's Showbiz!!!

  • wow great quality, bro, thanks for putting a camera up to a tv, retar.

  • That was a gang sign. What a badass.

  • AWKWARD! haha

  • The guy that played vader had lines to read but they dubbed in JEJ after cause his voice was better, the actor also blabbed to the media some plot so lucas gave him fake lines for the later films IIRC. Both reasons explain why that wasnt caught also becasue you can barely see vader as its a long shot. Its all fake anyway people, grow up.

  • 4 words:

    Your argument is invalid.

  • It looks like he put up the finger

  • Actually, there's no missing lines. As they added James Earl Jones' voice in after filming, this ended up as one of the few times that the voice was placed in the wrong place

You have to remember, they spent most of their money on the special effects for this, and very little on the actors. Most were from B-movies.

I actually wrote a paper on the Evolution of Special Effects into the digital age that went over alot of what was done between the original star wars movies.

  • just some bad sound editing

  • he was sign languaging just incase a deaf person was watching

  • If you look really closely, you will see he is actually swearing

  • Rubbish.

    A Wizard did it.

  • who cares?....people with nothing better to do with their time....I wasted 1:19 minutes of my life on this crap

  • it was masonic sign

  • WOW. I can't believe George Lucas didn't catch this and changed it.

  • David Prowse was the actor inside the suit. He did all the dialogue whilst acting, but it was voiced over by James Earl Jones. The dialogue probably changed during editing. It hurts me that I know this.

  • @BordelloBabe

    Ur not alone. lol

  • @BordelloBabe the reason Vader's voice was changed from the origanal voice was because David Prowse's voice was echoing arond the Vader helmet....and apperently David Prowes did'nt know his voice was dabbed over untill the movie hit the screens....

  • WESSS SIIIEEED!

  • He had a Scalextrix set on the floor ... whizzed the car too fast , crashed and his hand gesture was a sign of frustration.... I'm with you Darthy m8.

  • Wasn't the entire film looped?

  • There's no way to cut to Cushing's closeup before Prowse's hand movement because Cushing has to stop walking first. Trying to "fix" it with CGI would look fake because everyone would be aware of it.

I guess what happened is Prowse read the line more slowly and later Lucas asked Jones to read it faster and more intense. Maybe they only did one take of this shot, or all the takes were the same.

  • West-side is da best!

  • yeah and really who cares i want that 1.19 of my life back.

  • It looks like he is throwing up "WESTSIDE"

  • i dont see it

  • LOL no he was putting his finger up at turkan as if to say Fuck u old bastard thats my daughter ur talking about

  • Star Wars fan wank (yet again).Boring, they're NOT actually real. There is no "galaxy far far away".

  • @maxwall7755 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @maxwall7755 but there is a galaxy far far away... but nothing lives there.

  • doesnt it look a little fuzzed out? he was pointing his middle finger at that.....idiot. dont u see it? or else his is making a peace sign. little out of character.

  • Tarkin wants The Terminator immediately.

Now princess tell me the location of the rebel base.

    No, no no.

    WRONG! ZAP BANG!

    LOL

  • waste of time!!!!

  • You just NOW noticed this?? I noticed that when I saw this in '77...when I was 6-1/2 years old.

  • @maceek1 : I noticed it then too... but the point is it's still there even though Lucas did all of this work on the "special editions", and spend a lot of money adding new effects, but nobody at Lucasfilm caught this... hard to believe.

  • @evolution1138 Also....there was no YouTube in '77 to point it out. Ahhahha

  • @evolution1138 Just looks like the audio didn't sync well. Cue for sound was too fast.

  • @evolution1138

It's because the whole scene is in one take, so he couldn't cut out between lines. Star Wars noob is noob.

  • @evolution1138

That's because they spent a lot of time and money on designing and developing all the special effects used for this. Did you know that they created a special type of system to control the camera for space? It was the industry standard for decades after this movie.

But why would you put NEVER BEFORE SEEN in all caps?

  • @evolution1138 i think they noticed too. They didn't fix it because, how could they fix it? They could not shoot it again and fans would have gone crazy if they had added dialog to make it look right.

  • @johanfer The easiest way would be to cut out everything after Vaders lines until Tarkin says, "Terminate her, immediately!". Adywan's Star Wars Revisited Fan Edit fixes the empty gesture but there's still an odd gap between Vader's and Tarkin's lines. I'm sure there's a way to split screen the shot to isolate Vader and realign the gesture to his voiceover.

  • ower ricorded!

  • I'm starting to see that there are carbon based life forms with internet access that have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on their hands and devote that time to watch movies over n over n over n over n over n over n over n over n over...............................

  • oh yer the missing dialogue is 'i told you she would never conciously betray the rebellion, here touch my hand im using a new skin cream'.

  • He says, "......I told ya TWO TIMES, Moff."

  • These are not the videos you are looking for...

  • @TheEnglishViking1

that line is better than this video :)

  • that was so not funny

  • It's because of a mechanical failure in the suit. That's why he had the Empire build him that chamber he sits in (Empire Strikes Back) to fix problems with his internal electronics to prevent problems like his hand shaking while he is trying to talk to someone.

  • There was an original scottish guy doing darth vaders voice, so they took his voice out and changed the diologe and made most of the lines different then that were in the script.

  • haha maybe he was flipping him off? It's kinda hard to see but he is basically saying "I TOLD you so!" and then he flips him off. Makes sense, no?

  • Maybe he was looking at his watch?

  • You would think with all the reediting that Lucas has done he would just fix that

  • Nah, just the voice over was out of sync

  • Ok, how the hell did you notice that? I'll have to go with hawkogen's suggestion, it seems plausible...lol

  • It kinda looked like he was flipping off tarkin! OMG!!!!

  • he was pleasuring that guys Mom sexualy Across the Galaxy

thats just how BAD he is

  • yeah!! when he pointed at him!!!

  • he's saying.. Gingers have soul!!

  • When they went to dub in the voiceover, they missed a spot

  • huh, i never would have noticed.....

  • ouch ... that ... hurt

  • This clip is a whole minute longer than it needed to be, what a waste of time

  • @davidchecker You need to have respect that he at least put it on there, why would you waste your time puting the comment on there, ass

  • omg...I can't believe I never noticed that before and I've seen this movie hundreds of times.

  • Agreed--it's a gang sign.

I have noticed, however--in Episode IV especially--Darth Vader is somehow able to breath while talking....

  • I have noticed this all my life, been meaning to look into it?

  • Darn, I never noticed that....I've seen all these movies a zillion times...

  • actually he was trying to force choke the guy but unfortunately darth vader cant perform force chokes while needing to use the restroom.. lol i mean look at him lol he looks like he has to use the bathroom all stiff and stuff lol

  • Vader's voice is not the same guy who actually wore the suit

  • There was some dialogue, but it was taken away since they edited the script for vader. and since vader was in a helmet, they just recycled the scene

  • Fake

  • he made the guy that told vader the bad news shit himself outside of our view.

  • i didnt hear any mistakes

  • It wasn't a blooper in the voice acting, it was a blooper in the acting itself.

Dark Vaders voice is just recording and then played over the top of some acting, so the actor has to pretend as though he's talking.

The blooper is that, even though Darth Vader has stopped talking, the actor is still making gestures as though he is still talking.

  • that's 90% right, david prowse had to actually learn vader's lines as well so that he could motion along with what was being said and then the voice was dubbed over later.

In that particular scene there actually was one more line by vader that they chose to remove from the movie once they dubbed in the voice.

rather than re-shoot they just left that momentary hand gesture in there

  • He was secretly controlling Tarkin. He wanted Tarkin to order the execution so he didn't come off as the heavy. The hand gesture was just him silently exerting the force.

  • @nacoran

Seriously? Vader chokes out mother fuckers all the time. He'd choke out some poor fucking Imperial janitor for not replacing the shit paper roll in his crapper. I'm sure everyone already knows he's an asshole.

  • Shit, I saw that back in the 70's...

What I don't understands is George never fixed it in ANY of the reissues!! It would have been so easy to do.

  • Vader's voice is a voice-over by James Earl Jones.

  • how did i not see that in the movie

  • lol,Maybe he was saying "You should have listened to me,you dumba##",and they just censored him.

  • @kyuketsukisan19 If you look closely he holds up the peace sign! lol!!! YEAAAH!!! STONER VADER!!!!

  • look at it this way we all how vader loves to choke ppl right padme, the guy htat make fun of vader belifes in the confernce room, admeral ozzel, captain needda, yeah when i see his hand go up i think in a way without sayin just let me choke leia vome on just mw the word and let me choke her but god eye though never thought of it tht way

  • That's not suprising, after all he was designed by an 'evil' emperor. His servos are probably buggy as hell, intentionally for the emperors own amusement. Vader walks the corridors just slapping down stormtroopers uncontrollably, heck he probably slaps himself. I'm sure he busts out break'n, pop'n n' lock'n all the time and there ain't a damn thing he can do about it 'cept curse and ride it out. We don't see any of it because the empire controls the media. Many rebels died to bring you this vid

  • If you wanna see a mistake, watch as the stormtroopers enter the room where C-3 and R-2 are hidding at. You can see a stormtrooper nearly knock himself unconsious. Groege Lucus tried to hid this by having jengo fett hit his head on slave I in ep 2 as he escapes from obi on the water planet. He said "I wanted to show that the clones were a bit clusmy and cant seem to see in there helmets" This is strange since the stormtroopers have diffrent voices and hights lol.

  • libertatus...

    pretty funny bro hahahaha

  • He's flashing a gang sign, that's all. Not east side or west side but the Dark Side.

  • this whole "never seen before" shit is straight bullshit. what the fuck? I've noticed this a thousand times. whatever OP you are a loser.

  • i dont see any blooper... hes just turning hes head to that person which is talking...

  • you just need to watch his hand.

  • maybe the actor thought that he was going to strangle the dude standing in front of him, instead of the one that the strangles later on... :)

  • James Earle Jones was the voice of Vader and David Prowse was the suit. They changed the lines Prowse said from what the real lines Jones said to keep the plot hidden as much as possible. As for his breathing while talking, he has a resperator directly attached to his lungs which works all the time.

  • Did he put the fingers up?

  • it's obvious he's giving him a gang sign

  • @ofdiscordia join the DARK SIDE - We've got' Death Star!

  • @LucaTurilli89 No cookies any more? :(..

  • @CorvetteBG Death Star is far better than cookies lol :D ! ;D xD ;p

  • @LucaTurilli89 No cookies, no darkside! >:( xD

  • @ofdiscordia The Dark Si-eede, fool! You betta axe somebody!

  • Because the voice we are hearing is not his it another man voicing him.The man acting as Darth Vader has funny scottish voice.

  • Ummm No he has a Bristolian Accent Dumbass.

  • He was communicating with the force DUH!! lol xD

  • yeah sure the missing thing is

    "now I'm waving, look!"

  • i dont think the guy in the costume is even the voice of vader.... its seperate people

  • The guy who walked around in the suit was David Prowse. I've met him. Years ago. They were gonna use his voice originally but threw in whats his face for the voice. Since you can't see Vaders mouth move anyway.

  • i met him too, very nice guy.

  • yeah, they're two different people: the guy in Vader's suit is David Prowse, some muscular man back in the day, but the voice we all know is from James Earl Jones, major voicing actor

  • yea well there is alot of mistakes in star wars... as he breathing alltime, even when he speaks, ..... so wrongXD

  • All of Vader's lines were ADR (voiceovers) so they could easily manipulate when he would be talking and what exactly he could say. They probably moved his line up for pacing issues and ended up with some extra gestures. In the real take he was likely delivering his line there but oh well.

  • So he waved his hand, doesn't mean there was any missing dialogue.

  • It's sign language. He's signing!

You know, like Abby from NCIS.

  • They didn't tell the guy in the Vader suit that his dialogue wasn't being recorded

  • "Do I have stitches..., in my vent?"

  • i didnt see anything-.-

  • You guys do know that the actor in the costume was not james earl jones, right?

  • No guys have it all wrong, Vader extends his finger takes a breath and James Earl Jones .....THAT HOE!!! But since SW is pg they cut it out

  • could have something to do with the fact that the actor and the voice of vader are two different people.. maybe something got cut when they did the voice-over

  • Lucas shouid add an extra line for vader like "she would give her life for the rebellion" or something like that

  • i thought his tounge was caught onto his mask and he tried to point to it

  • The missing line is "...unless she thought she could destroy us by doing so."

  • yeah i remember noticing that. Those are the kind of things george lucas was supposed to fix, not changing the force ghost in return of the jedi or the addition of jar jar binks at the end.

  • "let's take a closer look" HAHA

  • theres no missing dialogue james earl jones just delivered the line faster that david prouse in post production.

  • clearly a gang sign

  • yeah, after west coast and east coast there is now dark coast...

  • I like that comment

    GANG SIGN

    THAT WAS FUNNY

  • Additionally, I believe the first guy had a real uppity English accent, sounded like a tool :-X

  • Sorry to ruin the fun but James Earl Jones recorded his line after the first dude did the acting inside the suit.

The first guy (name I dont know) thought his voice was going to be used but found out at the movie Premiere that it was actually James'. :-D

  • his name was David Prowse, he was a body builder

  • He had the other guy's lines written on his hand... :)

  • he was telling the guys his line i should know i was there lolol

  • In a word, "gay".

  • did he count to 3 with his fingers?

  • Yeah I think so

    HAHAHAHA

  • too many fucking titles

    just play the damn thing

  • Lol goofiness. They re-dubbed all Vader's dialogue with James Earl Jones obviously in post so probably the original line was a little longer. Minor detail but that;s what makes the '77 star wars so cool it's budget and kinda lo-fi at times but still so insanely awesome!!

  • I think he was giving Peter Cushing the finger...

  • i agrre its hilarious

  • that was my first thought! LOL

  • I can agree with that!

  • The reason for the lack of sync is because the original line was longer.

    The real line goes:

"I told you she would never conciously betray the rebellion, and you didnt listen you candy bitch"

  • lol

  • @hawkogen LMAO

  • @hawkogen That would have been a brilliant line.

  • Originally, they had the actor inside the suit as Darth Vader's voice, but they later replaced it with James Earl Jones' voice.

  • @SlusionProductions

ah, no, they added jones' voice just like you ad the actors voices after the filming is complete. it's not like they released the film and thought "hey this sux, let's redo this with a better voice actor and make this an ultra-rare one-time version". to harm meant but i don''t apreciate when ppl are half-right. check up your source a 150%, or don't say anything at all. you might actually misguide the poor blokes who REALLY doesn't know

  • @Ajoh92 What I meant was that originally the lines were read by David Prowse for continuity, and then later, in POST PRODUCTION, James Earl Jones voiced over the lines . Sorry for the confusion.

  • @Ajoh92 Search "Darth Vaders Voice Before Voice Over."

  • ah ha! I knew I wasn't the only one who noticed it! I am a huge star wars freak and every time I watch that movie and see this part I'm like wtf? was that supposed to be like that? I see you noticed too lol

  • Anyone remember the Storm Trooper too tall to get under the doorway and hit his head knocking himself silly?

Yeah, bad grammar, but it was the part when they were chasing Han Solo if I recall. 4-5 of them running through a hatchway and one slams his head into the top frame.

Also, in DUNE (the original), one of the guys escorting the Guild Navigator into the Emperors day room slips and falls.

  • I rekon they just dubbed the sound in later on, and got the timing slightly wrong. After all, they did do that in Return of the Jedi as well.

  • ummmmmmm ummmmmmmm weeeeeelllllll that looks like a old part but then they must have

    edited it

  • I read somewhere the line was "I told you she would never consciously betray the Rebellion, unless she thought she could destroy us in the process." or something very similar. It was just cut for some reason.

  • that's an old issue. you just finding this? remember ALL of James Earl Jones' stuff was added later. So, maybe there was more. Maybe it was worded different. Or maybe they just mis-timed it.

  • it's not an old issue. I have the 2004 dvd set, and it's still the same.

  • This is an old issue. I have Star Wars on VHS and the scene is the same with the moving hand, gesturing - but no words spoken. There is either a piece of dialog missing or they moved Vader's dialog

  • ok. THIS particular clip the guy posted may be from an old issue, but I it shows the exact same thing on the dvds from 04. Look, take it from a girl who's watched them probably over 300 times and so much her father hid the tapes from her when she was younger. I also have the old tapes myself, and this scene is exactly the same.

  • lol, my parents took the tapes away from me too, when i was younger

  • lol

  • Yeah I noticed that too!!

I'm glad I wasnt the only one though haha

  • I think they edited Star Wars really quickly, too, so these little things get by, like this and the stormtrooper hitting his head, and I always wondered, where does the laser blast come from that scares threepio into the escape pod?

  • I've seen this movie a zillion times and I always thought he was just making a gesture for emphasis after speaking.

  • I've noticed that for a loooooong time. I had either thought there was a missing line or as someone else has said here, that the delivered line was put in before Prowse actually had said the line on set

  • That's not exactly a blooper. It was just a video editing integrity problem.

  • ha ha! you gotta love these old star wars bloopers! makes it even more worth while to watch. XD

  • he forget to turn hes speaker on

  • Those were gang signs! Vader, you gangsta you!

  • When they were filming the first scenes of star wars, the voice for Darth Vader had not been determined, so the exact wording was not determined at that point. The guy who did the physical acting, David Prowse, spoke the lines he was given, but may not have said them the same way or speed that the later dubbed voice of James Earl Jones said them, thus the first Star Wars film, particularly near the beginning has a few moments like this. By the second movie they knew more what they were doing.

  • lol! I never saw that before. The muted Darth Vader!

  • always wondered about that but i thought it was some gesture to like use the force or something crazy

  • WHAT ARE THESE WORDS IWILL NOT BE ABLE TO SLEEP UNLESS I KNOW!!!!!!!!! *snore snore snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*HUH WAT WAT HAPPENED OH WELLL GOOD VID!!!!!!!!!

  • Only the actor who played Vader and which voice was originally taped prior to James Earl's voice overs, can tell us what was said there which was omitted.

James Earl called it bad editing and that there was no missing lines...which really means that the text he was presented with was a cut version.

  • Probably was something very short and concise, such as "you should've listened", which would also explain the hand gesture.

  • Green jacket, gold jacket........

    WHO GIVES A SHIT!?!?!?!?!?!?

there is 1:18 i will never get back

  • hahahaha

    sooo funny!!!!

    NO

    you loser

go get a life even if u hav to get it out of the trash

  • funny and get a life, like me, xD, hahahahhaaha (its a joke, xD)

  • hahaha. NO! go and chew your throat. you cunt

  • I've always noticed that. Just bad editing. There's actually much more glaring bloopers than this in Star Wars.

  • You all should see->
