Why not just make one and try it for yourself? I just made one at my desk at work with a paperclip and a piece of paper...it works. Now when I try it again I'm going to put a jar over it so to be absolutely sure there are no air currents involved...it's pretty well documented and science hasn't figured out how it works as far as I know.
