  • My name's Fancy too :) <3

  • @PUrpleFriDayPoison it was 1993

  • BOBY GENTRY DID THIS SONG IN 1970

  • @Kimndes Really? I thought Bobby Gentry just wrote and ORIGINALLY performed it in 1969 and Reba did a cover. I guess I was wrong since you used all caps.

  • DAM gril can sing and preform. GO REBA!!!

  • My daughter and I are going to see Reba at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI on Nov. 10. I can't wait to see her sing "Fancy". I saw her once before when my daughter was just a baby and I was so impressed then. She is one of my daughters favorites now too! I know it will be a night to remember!

  • My Nana got to dance on stage with Tina Turner when she was 80. She passed away 11 years ago. Not a day goes by that I dont think of her. Her passing still hurts. I couldn't even try to imagine what you're going through 1994REDSOXFAN. I do know holidays suck and eventually you do get used to living with the pain.

  • Me, my mother, and daughter saw this video - My mom and I are huge Reba Fans, my mother passed away this past April 27th, 2011 ...This really brings back memories...Me and mama saw 10+ Reba Concerts before her diagnosis of COPD, until she didn't have the strength to no longer see her anylonger, which broke my heart... I LOVE YOU MAMA !!!

  • She says to love her talent not for being just like everyone else but its impossible to not love her for both.....amazing actress singer and person<3 thats why i keep on loving you Reba!

  • when was this..???

  • REBA IS **** AMAIZING

  • Thanks for sharing this version...I did get to see a live performance of Reba in So Cal!

  • Amazing

  • I recently saw Reba in concert and when she had just finished singing turn on your radio she left stage and i though "OH NO SHE DIDN'T SING FANCY!" Then all of a sudden her band started to come back for the encore and fancy began to play and i thought i might cry it was FANTASTIC to say the least XD

  • @95Bloodlust i just saw her and george earlier this year and i did the same thing... i loved that she did it for her encore!!!

  • What did the locket say?

  • @Deamoncat121 'To Thine Own Self be True' :)

  • This has certainly become the authoritative version of this song. Bobbie's rendition has all but faded into obscurity. There are many people who think Reba is the original singer...same thing with The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.

  • Go Reba! My dad used to sing me to sleep with country music when I was a baby nd the first song I ever remember singing was by keny Chesny! I love country music nd I love Reba! :D

  • The infamous "Red Dress" ... LOVE IT !!!!!

  • I like the original version, Bobbie Gentry's. Reba makes it too loud and too long with streching the words out. This performance is nice, with the surprise factor, but I still like Bobbie's better.

  • @MildredEThompson I like that reba stretches it out the words and the music work alot better that way!! Bobbies version she runns everything together and it makes it seem as if shes behind with the music!!! Bobbie Gentry EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!!

  • @tjamesdrag You are ignorant and clueless. Bobbie Gentry is very happy with Reba's success. Bobbie didn't just do a "version" she wrote the music and lyrics and performed them. Secondly without Bobby Gentry, there might not have been a star name Reba. Reba said the Bobby Gentry's Fancy was her favorite song. She had this record and played it everyday, wore it out, wanted to be a singer from the record.

  • @Lockemeister OKAY DUMBASS!!! Reba was discovered at an oklahoma city rodeo by country singer Red Steagall!! She was singing the National Anthem!! She wasnt singing Bobbie's Fancy...Reba remade that song way after she was already famous!!! You damn IDIOT!!! There was a Reba way before there was Reba's version of Fancy!! Damn your stupid!!

  • Comment removed

  • @tjamesdrag

Dear whatever, I clearly said the Reba WANTED to be a singer from listening to the Bobbie Gentry record Fancy. Reba said she "wore out the record" I saw her say all this on an interview many years ago.

I never said Reba was discovered from singing the song Fancy. Are you able to see the differerence? I hope you get help soon.

  • Comment removed

  • @tjamesdrag Maybe this will help your mind get stability. Cowboy poet-singer Red Steagall "discovered" Reba singing the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City in 1974.

The Bobbie Gentry song "Fancy" came out in 1969.

The song Fancy made such a big impression on Reba, it made her want to be a (professional) singer. It was her favorite record . If you have problems with that statement please take it up with Reba. that's what she said in an interview many years ago.

  • this "little girl" can belt it out !!...go girl !!

  • I'd like to see Glee try this...EPIC FAIL! REBA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

  • wow live she sounds almost exactly like the real song :) i <3 reba shes AMAZING!!! :D

  • I love Reba! With the way that audience was cheering her on, you'd think she OWNED that stage!

  • I was born and raised on country music; Grew up on the lyrics of George Strait, Garth Brooks, John Michael, and Brooks and Dunn. Reba McEntire is and will be, the only woman in country music who gives me chill bumps when she sings with that beautiful voice.

  • She is amazing I love how she wears the big coat, I have tickets to her when she comes to Halifax in sept

  • Grew up this way!!!!!!!!!!!!! (SAD )

  • Her voice alone could have carried this song. She didn't need all the contrivance.

  • I have been a Reba fan since I was 12 years old and now I am 30 and I am still and forever will be a Reba fan!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!! Her singing improves every time and I cannot wait to see/hear what she does next!!!!!!!!!!

  • At 3:48 she is dancing, and she looks very sexy and playful. You can tell she is having fun :) LUV REBA!!!!

  • One of the best storytellers ever!!!!

  • What a great performance! The platform she got on when she revealed her red dress was a nice touch. Very climatic.

  • awesome performance!

  • Reba really took away any edge this song had when she covered it. If Reba's version was a film it would a lame Lifetime Network movie. Shelby Lynne would be a better choice of singer to pulls this song off.

  • The concert is huge!!!

  • Trashy...

  • what concert was this?

  • absolutely awesome performance!! She has got the cutest personality personified by Angelic Characteristics & Voice! "As I Am in Heaven, so Am I upon the Earth"...no doubt Reba came from a Very High Seat! Thank you so much for posting this so we can all enjoy Reba. Very unselfish for you to do this....!! RIGHT ON!

  • Its funny .. in 1994 she looks older than now ..

I love her voice.. and besides being an amazing singer..

    she is my favourite actress

  • @limonenlight I agree Reba is looking so much younger as she ages lol she is so beautiful at 55

  • It's a red dress, not "THE RED DRESS". Search on here for Reba Red Dress. I was watching the awards when she came out singing in it WOW.

  • Comment removed

  • she did a way better job than bobbie gentry!!!!! more emotion in the song and more personality..

  • she is so loyal to her fans. she is petrified of heights yet she's doing this so put on a great* performance for them :) love reba <33

  • Reba, Martina, and Faith are the best female artists ever....forget Keri and Taylor..please! :D

  • Don't forget Dolly!

  • What can you say but WOW! ?...

  • I was at one of the concerts. It's hard to tell which town this vid is filmed. But believe me, it was one of most exciting concert moments ever. Saw this concert in Milwaukee.

  • she still looks like she's ,20 something ?

  • she ain't no Bobbie Gentry,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but Im glad bobbie has 3 or 4 new houses because of it,,,,,,,

  • she ain't no Bobbie Gentry,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • i like song

  • "reba" makes my smile, she's just "too cute",great vid. thanks !

  • where the hell is that? its the hugest fucking stadium I've ever seen

  • It's hard to beat Reba on this song

  • She does shake her shoulders at the very end! The camera draws your attention to her clevage line! That dress sure looked amazing on her:) go reba!

  • megan mullally sings this song better

  • @gpssip haha, nope Reba does!!!!!

  • @rickeydee09 this is on video at reba.com, it was on a concert for tv.

  • Where was this?

  • Bobbie Gentry tells the true story.........bless her heart I understand....dammit

  • @AliceMarr I ADORE Bobbie Genrty's origional too, sooo beautiful. But then Reba Rocks too =)

  • I was force fed country music growing up and really can't stand most of it now. This is one I can't help but like. I guess because the guitar on the studio version is semi-rock flavored.

  • @Gunstar1701 Rock music sux. Long live COUNTRY !

  • @ForeverAnalog I wasn't putting country music down. It's an integral part of American history. I just don't care for it. You go your way, I'll go mine. Oh, and I really hope a female rocker covers "Fancy" some day.

  • Superb production but lacks the passion of Bobbie Gentry's version.

  • one thing I love about Reba is she sounds the exact same live as she does on her albums. She does not toy with her voice.....To many singers toy with there voices when making albums to make themselves sound good and some of them can not even sing at all , off the top of my head Ahsley Simspon can not sing to save her life , if you hear her albums she sounds good but go to see her live and she stinks, her voice sounds nothing like how it is on her album.

  • You have got to see her perform that in concert! It will blow you away! She is the most gifted country singer.

  • yeah besides Tanya Tucker

  • I hope with this new fire in her singing career that she will think about doing the big tours again.

  • had that her controling husband made her cut her hair

  • And then i heard this song because of you ft kelly clarkson (which i had heard before from kelly solo), and wen in heard that i sed "reba sings" i went 2 skul told my friends and they were like- duh we knew that eversince, so i started listen to her songs and they are really gud, and by the way, i watched that bobbie watever's version and she sounds off tune, and cant dance so rock on reba!!!

  • Reba is the only country singer, I like, and I usually listen 2 alternative, rock and pop,t In england where i was born, we didn really hav country music, i only found out about reba wen i moved to Barbados, and people were talkin about this funny sitcom-REBA-. Even my spanish teacher likes reba, in an essay, she had- mi programa favorita es Reba. So i watched it and i got HOOKED!, everyday i got my hw out of d way so i could watch it. It was that funny. And then i heard this song because of you

  • @hakreamriley i feel sorry for you that you have narrow tastes in music. Rock and Pop? Seriously?

  • @ForeverAnalog rock music sucks hah-u mean country music SUCKS.Im sorry,i mean i love reba-shes really popular here-and she has good music, but u see that george strait guy,he sucks, most country music sUcks, lady gaga(pop) and boys like girls(rock) ALL THE WAY

  • @hakreamriley Only if you're mainstream. Most country is good. Rock music, eh. I can take it or leave it. I prefer Alternative Country Music myself. Lady Gaga is a talentless hack.

  • @ForeverAnalog i guess people just have different oppinions,as long as we agree that reba rocks

  • @hakreamriley - everyone's entitled to their opinions right? your entitled to yours, so let foreverAnalog share his. it's not your way or the highway.

  • Huge respect for Reba!!!!

  • My GOD, look at all of those people. o.O Hehe, awesome awesome awesome song!

  • wow i love this song/video (i to love Lucille Ball) if it were not about prostitution i would have had it played on share day in school last week

  • I love her dress, might actually have someone recreate it for me for this song, when i get in drag, such a great look.

  • that RED mane, that Red dress... WOW, lol... I LOVE being a Redhead!

  • i'd love to see her in concert once more...

  • reminds me of gone with the wind

  • REBA IS FRICKEN AWESOME!

  • I've never been a country fan, but this one is an exception. I wish some female rocker would cover it.

  • @MrJetfire59 Well, you could go listen to the original, by the woman who actually wrote it, Bobbie Gentry. It's not rock, but it's not like this sort of mainstream country (which honestly at this point in time is just pop with a twang). Anyway. Done ranting. Check it out - Bobbie Gentry's amazing.

  • love it

  • man i wish i was at that show, she is so good it `s hurt.fancy is a great song ,and Reba sings it so the hair in my neek goes up.luv her

  • I so agree with you lucilleball fan100 Reba sings the hell out this song. She puts so much passion into the performance, and alot of emotion into the lyrics. While Bobie well she was just terrible and those dance moves lol so funny. Simply put Reba owns this song!! And just for the record I think Lucy rocks too I am right there with on that one as well!!!

  • I just saw Bobie Gentry's verstion of this song and I thought it was awful. This may be her song but Reba does a way better job than Bobie did. it seems to me that Bobie was not into the song

I do not have hearing probloms but I had my volume on my computer all the way up and could not hear Bobie at all

Reba barrows a song that is not hers and does an awsome job every time

  • I totally agree. Love Lucille Ball, BTW.

  • That's Lucy Head to toe

  • I mighta been born plain white trash... I love that!!!! LOVE IT!!!! There is nothing better. She brings such an emtion to this song. I love singing it, I love hearing, and I love seeing it done- just like this. Ms. Gentry was awesome and no one will dispute that, but Reba made it a totally different song and I am glad that she did. Same song, 2 different approaches. I love both, but this is my favorite!

  • I'll agree with routercanon, she's not Bobbie Gentry.. but I'll disagree with him, in the same respect.. Reba McEntire has her own way of doing this song. They're both wonderful versions, regardless. I'm sure Mrs. Roberta Lee Streeter (Bobbie Gentry) is quite proud.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • i love it! such an AMAZING performance.

    i love reba!

  • This was 1994

  • @CGA214 I'm fairly certain it was 1995?

  • @tinbrugs2007 yeah I'm sure it was 95

  • Loved it :D

  • I don't know why, but the song Fancy always brings tears to my eyes. I keep wondering if she ever saw her baby brother or sister again. Just over-thinking the lyrics, I guess

  • o my god!

    what a performer!

    i love reba

    ~*~

  • love this song ty for sharing

  • "You know, I might have been born just plain white trash, but Fancy was my name!" That line rocks!

  • listn to bobbie gentry and see

  • Reba is amazing shes the only one that can sing this song putting emotion into it and really sing it not to mention she looks hot doing it

  • @ILoveReba12345 i so agree i love rrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I heard somewhere (can't remember at the moment) that Reba was scared of heights. I also noticed she kept at least one hand on the bar of the lift she was riding at all times. I wonder if she was scared?

  • i'd be terrified :0

amazing talent to keep on singing so fine and looking out over a crowd.

  • I'd be scared too. I wonder if they told her to hold on though.. for saftey reasons...

  • what is this from and does anyone no if i can get it on VHS or DVD

  • yes u can buy it from amazon i did! Its called the Reba Live she is wearin' a blue dress on the front cover.

  • My Grandmother loved this song as do I, She never met Reba but one day after the song was over she said you know you can't have a Reba concert with Fancy, and I believe it

  • both versions are wonderful

  • woowand tha amazing show , olnly she could do that !!! and that dress soo beautiful!!!! love her !!

  • thanks!! i thought reba said she would wear it again? but its a cute dress so its not like im mad! lol i guess she surprised everyone!!

    *Morgan*

  • reba sings so great and i don't care how old she is she is hot

  • REBAAAA!

    omg, your performances are

    always just breathtaking ♥

  • three words: love that dress!

  • Oh, yes. Anyway, she did look her best and I love this song. Only Reba could sound this great. I mean, look at how many people were in the audience! She sure got so many fans including me.

  • what year was this?

  • 1994 :-)

  • only reba could pull something like this off

  • I have seen her live many times along with Madonna ,Cher and others and I must say Reba use to put on some of the most AMAZING stage shows. This is small compared to some of her others!

  • i was lucky enough to see her perform this live at the fl st fair when i was about 6 yrs old so in about 92 and it was amazing, watching it now still gives me chills!

  • i am redneck i there aint anything wrong with being redneck?!

  • except maybe your english

  • oh and you are perfect wit all yourz..

and dont say you are cause i really doubt that.!

  • Reba is QUEEN of Country, buttface & don't you forget that!!1

  • I remember this show....I saw it 4 times that year at different places across the country.

  • What year was this?

  • Comment removed

  • This isn't the CMA awards - this was part of one of her concerts. But she did wear the same infamous red dress from the CMA awards for this concert. I love that she reused it!

  • it is the CMA!

  • This is a great vid - some wonderful close-ups. Reba is so expressive - not just in her voice but in her face and body. Just the bit where she takes the small hat off her head, pulls the pin out from her hair and uses that to spread her hair out. And of course - the dress reveal is awesome.

  • from one whore to another, life goes on!-kat dancer

  • Maybe you should learn how to spell, before you learn how to dress.

  • Did you know that her dress is backwerds!!
